This 52.5 lb single dumbbell setup is without a doubt one of the best deals I’ve ever found on Amazon. While most iron free-weights sell for around $2/pound (as of the fall of 2022), this set is much more affordable, The price for it does seem to vary wildly day by day. I paid $77 in October 2022 and see that a month later, it is selling for $65. But I’m not complaining since it’s a steal at either price. I bought 2 sets so I’d have a pair of dumbbells. The dumbbell bars and threaded, star-shaped end nuts are nicely made. The chrome coating seems thick and durable. And because the threaded nuts have black rubber washers on the side that makes contact with the weight plates, they tighten securely and stay firmly in place when in use. Other sets I’ve used did not have the rubber washer and as a result, would loosen up while doing reps. That’s both annoying and dangerous The rubber washers do tend to fall off when removing the nuts from the dumbbell, but that is easily rectified by putting a few drops of superglue in the groove in the nut into which the rubber washer sits. The weight plates themselves are a little less precisely made. For instance, I weighed my 5 lb plates on a postal scale and discovered they range anywhere from 4.75 lbs to 5.25 lbs. That’s not a big deal most of the time but you can definitely notice an imbalance if you inadvertently end up with 8 of the heavier 5 lb plates on one hand and 8 of the lighter plates on the other. To avoid that from happening, I used a silver Sharpie to mark the plate that are over 5 lbs and keep them in a separate pile so I can distribute the weight more evenly into the bars. Also, while the clear-coat on the plates seems heavy duty enough, you do need to check for rough edges. That goes for the dumbbell bars too. I had to file down a couple of spots to avoid getting metal splinters in my hands. Last but not least, the dumbbells I received have a diameter of 1.18 inches (or 30mm) and the weight plates have holes that size. This means any plates you may already have with 1 inch (25mm) holes will not fit onto these bars. Likewise, while the plates from this set will easily go onto a 1 inch bar, they can flop around a bit. In practice the latter is not a problem as long as you can tighten down the bar-end clamps. I use my 30mm plates on a 25mm curl bar without issue. In short, while there may be some compromises involved, at these prices, this dumbbell set is one of the best deals out there. Follow up note written on April 11, 2023: I’ve been using my weight set several times a week for about 6 months now and all parts are holding up great!

I purchased the single 52.5 lb dumbell set. At the time of purchase, it was more affordable to buy two of the single sets over the 105 lb two dumbell set. I saw other reviews describing poor packaging, but that was not my experience. In fact each dumbell came very well packed. The dumbell set comes tightly packed in a box. Each of the pieces have their own plastic shroud/bag. The box was well taped and then wrapped with heavy duty shipping plastic. That's placed into another tight fitting box and taped very well again. Finally, that box was placed in another tight fitting box for shipping and came very well taped. As far as the dumbell set, I received eight 5 lb plates, two 2.5 lb plates, and two 1.25 lb plates. All plates feel like solid iron with a heavy glossy paint. The weights were not padded so there is minimal paint chipping at where some of the plates contacted each other. In some instances this created some sharp edges, but they don't seem that bad. The dumbell bar and knuckles are solid metal and the knurled grip feels good in my hands. With each of my single dumbell sets, they did not come in a case or bag. I separately purchased a weight rack for my plates which I highly recommend. I bought the CAP barbell 1-inch plate tree and these plates fit it just fine. These are the start of my simple home gym and look forward to working out with them.

I bought the 50# set for my home gym, overall I love them and get the job done. The screw caps at first I thought were inconvenient, but if I need to change weight in between sets, its really not bad because I would just be standing around doing nothing in between sets anyway- gives you something to do. Also, I dont really experience the screw locks coming undone while working out like other people say. As long as you focus on your muscle group and what your doing, not swinging them around, you don't have that issue. The only real time I experience this is when Im using them for modified exercises because I dont have a machine (like leg extensions)- with heavier weights and me swinging my legs, they do get loose, but not enough to fall off. An inconvenience, but not a deal breaker, is the loading posts. When I received them, I wish I had bought the 100# set to have more weight , however those handles are 3" longer than the 50#ers. Since Im a short girl, when I do things like dumbbell presses, I cant bring my arms in close enough together if they are perfectly parallel because the long bars hit each other, so I have to stagger them to get the full range of motion in. This isnt a huge issue for me though, adapt and overcome. Also, I assumed these were standard 1" handles and plates, however, the handles are slightly larger than 1", so my other CAP brand standard 1" plates do NOT fit on these handles like I had hoped, but again, inconvenient but not a dealbreaker for a home gym. At least I can use the plates that came with them on my other standard sized bars. Overall, for wide range of use and amount of weight you get, its a great investment and you get out of them what you put in. They get the job done and they save money and space by not having 50 different dumbbell sets laying around.

I looked at other adjustable dumbbells from Bowflex and PowerBlock, but the plastic parts they include reportedly make them fragile, which is a characteristic I'd like to avoid in free weight equipment. Ironmaster equipment looks great, but it's much more expensive and, it appears it's only available on the used market at even higher prices, or from Ironmaster via lottery. These dumbbells (I ordered two) came on time, double-packed and plastic-wrapped in two 52.5lb boxes, and with all of the parts and pieces included and intact. They look very solidly constructed. The retention collars are easy to spin off and on. They can loosen during use, but so far a simple check and twist before each set looks like it will keep them safe. Some of the plates had rough spots, but the finish looks tough and appears to adhere well to the underlying iron, and I'm unconcerned with their aesthetics. The knurled handles are consistent with equipment I've used in most gyms, and a pair of gloves would address any discomfort that some folks may experience. I've only used these a few times so far, but they're exactly what I wanted, they look like they'll last for years, they're reasonably priced, and I don't have to worry that a broken piece of plastic will leave them unusable or make them unsafe.

Good, sturdy set. It's as easy to adjust as any adjustable weight. I like the size of the plates for everything except big muscles like legs and back. The value for the price is good. The only complaint I have is that the paint where the plate meets the bar rubs off and gets on your skin or floor. Theres thankfully not much of that paint, so it's not a huge problem, but is a little annoying

Product ok but the packaging needs major improvements to help keep box stable. I’m surprised the weights were not damaged as flimsy as the box was with no padding around weights to keep them from breaking.

These CAP Adjustable dumbbells are great for your money. The good : Knurling : Good enough to be noticeable but not deep enough to cause discomfort. I do wish they were deeper. Accuracy: I’ve weighed out most of the plates and their all precise to the tenth of a pound. The bad: Some of the edges of the handles and spin lock could be filed down. Not too big a deal. Overall you get what you pay for. Of course it’s slow to change weights but you know that already. A tip I heard from a YouTuber was to buy extra pairs of handles and doing locks to have different weights on hand for smaller muscle groups or drops sets. I’m pretty happy to have some weight to throw around in my room.

these are great for me (smaller female). I love the gym for barbell workouts, but the dumbbells there (anything over 10-12lbs) jump up in 5lb increments, forcing me to go for either an excessive amount of reps or full on power lifting sets. these are great. functional not fancy, they let me get the weight I need on any given day. purchased 2 of the 52.5lbers and have been having a lot of fun being able to get in a solid workout at home.
