For the price these are great quality. I spent some time to resolve issues. Reviews mention 3 main issues: 1) Oily 2) Smelly 3) Screechy when putting on bar. I asked ChatGPT what to do. It recommended: Degrease: Use a degreaser like Simple Green, WD-40 Degreaser, or dish soap with warm water. Wipe down thoroughly with a rag. Rinse well and dry immediately to prevent rust. Use Isopropyl Alcohol (optional): After degreasing, wipe with rubbing alcohol to remove residue and help evaporate moisture. For Smelly Rubber Plates: Ventilate: Let them air out in a garage, balcony, or other well-ventilated area for a few days to weeks. Wipe Down: Clean with a solution of water + white vinegar (1:1 ratio) or use baking soda paste. Let sit for a few minutes before wiping off. After I did exactly these things I felt for minor burrs on the inner ring. I used very fine steel wool "0000" and gently removed them. I then used Flitz polish on the inner ring. This fills in minor surface imperfections and protects the metal. Now they go on the bar silky smooth! Yeah it seems like a lot of work but I'll be using these for many years.

If you’re building out a home gym and don’t care about flashy branding or fancy finishes, these CAP Barbell plates are hands-down the best bang for your buck. I’ve loaded up on a bunch of 10s so I can scale weight gradually, and it’s been the perfect setup for progressive overload without blowing my budget. They’re exactly what you want in a plate: durable, accurate in weight, and built to last. No wobble, no weird coating smells, no cosmetic nonsense—just solid iron that does the job. The center holes fit snugly on a standard Olympic bar, and they’ve held up great through all kinds of workouts—everything from deadlifts to rows to landmine work. I like having more 10s because it gives me flexibility in loading, especially for accessory work or when I’m working with clients who need smaller jumps. I picked up a set of CAP bumper plates for my starter home gym, and overall, they’ve been a great choice—especially if you’re on a budget. These are probably the cheapest decent plates I could find that aren’t the "Signature Fitness" brand, which was a big selling point for me as I’m just getting my setup off the ground. For the price, they deliver everything I need to kickstart my home gym routine. Out of the box, I’ll be honest—they arrived pretty greasy and oily, which might turn some people off. It seems like they’re coated with some kind of protective film from the factory, and while it’s a bit of a hassle to wipe down, it didn’t bother me too much. A quick scrub with a rag and some elbow grease got them ready to go, and once that was done, they’ve been perfectly functional. I also noticed some of the plates had minor damage—like small nicks or scuffs—but nothing significant enough to warrant a return. You get what you pay for, and at this price point, a few cosmetic imperfections aren’t a dealbreaker for me. For a beginner like me, these plates are spot-on. They’re durable enough for standard lifts and drops (I’ve got them on horse stall mat setup), and the rubber coating keeps the noise and floor damage to a minimum. They’re not fancy or high-end, but they don’t need to be—at this price, you’re getting solid, no-frills bumper plates that work for deadlifts, squats, or whatever else you’re throwing at them. I like how much thinner these are than my other plates. They are easier to grab and hold than thicker plates, and the rubber is more comfortable than metal plates. Very easy to put on and off, or hold for squats. They did stink for about a month before the smell finally started to fade, but even now I can still somewhat smell them.

Great product for the money! Need weights cybersecurity are a cost effective solution. They look good they a great quality! Downside the are all the same diameter which is not a big deal, they don’t have handles nor a lip to grab them from but again not a huge deal. Yes they come from the manufacturer with oil and a smell but again not a big deal when ur paying less than a dollar per pound for new weights. I will purchase more again soon!
