As others have mentioned, these are shipped in three boxes of weights at 50# each, and one narrow box that holds the stand. In my case, while extremely heavy duty boxes were used, and well taped, one of the boxes was sliced open and minor damage to rubber ends of DBs in that box occurred. Looks like it was slid over something which cut it through. In any event, 2x5, 2x10, 2x15, 2x20, 2x25# DBs are included, making this an excellent "base" set. Handles are knurled and as expected in diameter and abrasiveness. No gloves required, but your mileage may vary. Is there a smell? seems to be the burning question. Of course they have a smell. They were just born of chemicals. They smell like what they are: rubber. So if you have ever had a new bike tire in your house, that is the smell, multiplied by a few pairs. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I was able to start using right away. I cannot relate at all to folks who seemed like they were going to swoon after opening the boxes. NOTE: I "washed" these with dish soap and water before using because they are covered in manufacturing residual dust etc. and will make your hands filthy otherwise. Mine did *not* have any kind of oily residues, as others have mentioned; again, just new tire smell, which for me is not obnoxious. But hey- some people think cilantro tastes terrible, so there is no accounting for taste. NOTE #2: Unlike the way Amazon's own brand and some other DBs I have purchased are wrapped, these were just loose in the box. No Styrofoam, no placement in a baggie, nada. Just in the box. So they are not going to be 100% brand new and flawless looking when you take them out. Get over it. They're dumbbells. They'll look like that in a couple months of workouts anyway. Also, because there is no protection, be judicious in opening the boxes. Just slice around the tape so you are not gouging a chunk out of your new best friends. I got these for basically a buck a pound, which is what weights were before Covid, and what they should be anyway, and held off on buying them until I hit the sale amount. Having said that, they would still be worth it for the $200 amount too, of course, just slightly less of a bargain. As has been mentioned by other reviewers, the A-frame is easy to put together, but will take your fingers off if you are not watching what you are doing when replacing the weights onto the rack, something which was also true at many gyms I have used and is a bug and not a feature of this style of rack. Definitely recommend, and would purchase again. Plan on augmenting with additional weights and eventually using a horizontal rack for all of them, but this was a steal-- and delivered on top of it. I am keeping the boxes. These are some of the heaviest duty boxes I have had sent to me. You should keep them until your return date is over anyway, in the event something untoward happens and they need to go back. ... show more

TL;DR You can't go wrong with this weight set for the money. I got them on a flash sale for under $180. The good: Easy to assemble, sturdy stand, nice grips on the weights. Company will send free replacements if anything is wrong in the shipment. The not-so-good: Rubber smell upon opening, will need some time to dissipate, so I'd plan on leaving them sit in a well ventilated area for a week before seriously using them. Also, the ends would appear to be dipped to rubberize them, and some of the material splashed onto the chrome handles. Absolutely no big deal and can be cleaned off, but something to be aware of. I would also suspect this material would wear off and expose the metal if abused (particularly if it got dropped on the corner of something). I have no idea how they make money on these as they came to me in 4 separate boxes via UPS. I did have one weight that had some shipping damage to the end (pictured), but it's not the end of the world. ... show more

For the price you really can’t beat it! I saw a lot of complaints about the top screws on the stand being where people could not tighten them, but they must have changed the design because everything was super easy to assemble on mine!! I did have to file a few burrs off the grips but other than that there are no complaints! The stand is sturdy, the weights are nice, the shipping was fast and nothing was missing, and most of all it was very affordable!!! ... show more

Great quality for the price! The dumbbells seem to be holding up well. An odd smell when first opened, but with continued use the smell dissipates. Great addition to a home gym. Setup only requires an Allen wrench, which is also great!

The weights themselves shipped in three separate boxes, each of which weighed fifty pounds (25 lbs x2 in one, 20 lbs x2 + 5 lbs x2 in the second, and 10 lbs x2 + 15 lbs x2 in the third). Came in great shape and they seem pretty durable. The stand is a nightmare to put together. You could technically do it on your own, but it's far easier if you get a second person to hold the pieces in place while you screw all the pieces together. Some of the pieces are also a very tight fit. The stand quality is mostly fine. Lightweight, yet durable. My only complaint (the reason I dropped this from five stars to four) is that mine came with a pretty big dent at the end of one of the pieces. I was still able to put it together after a bit of work, but it definitely made my job harder since the metal is too thick to rebend it back to normal. ... show more

It took a month for the entire set to arrive as they come in 4 separate boxes. You have to put the stand together but nothing complex. The weights are very nice. They are similar to the ones in a public gym. Some dumbbells were scratched at the handle but nothing major and over they’re still nicer than those in a public gym. The knurling on the handles comes in handy and they won’t slip out of your hand. The stand is sturdy and very nicely made. I am very happy with the purchase. If you find them on sale get them!! I really like these dumbbells. They are exactly what I was looking for but always too expensive. These are at a great price. The rubber coating is excellent and the chrome handles feel great. The only issue I had was with the rack. The feet take four long bolts to fasten together. I got three bolts of sufficient length but the fourth was shorter and I could not use it. Its still holding sturdy so I'm not worried about it. ... show more
