To start, this item is shipped in 4 boxes three of which is heavy weighing more than 50 lbs each, except for the box that contains the rack. If you live in a 4th floor walk up like I do, bring a box cutter and just tote the dumbbells two at a time. Trust me that process alone gave me a work out. Phew chile...lol. Secondly, everyone is right, the smell is horrendous (think of burnt tar and gasoline). I got rid of the smell by wiping down each dumbbell and spraying them with fabreeze...twice. No stench after 24hrs. These weights are solid and built nicely. Word of advice, decide your placement of the rack BEFORE you put the weights on it because it will be very difficult to move it. 150 lbs is nothing to sneeze at. I love this investment.

Just what I needed! I favor one of my arms little too much in my exercises and this is helping me stay balanced... The rubber smell that people have complained about is nasty for a few days, but dissipated pretty quick... I've already started adding on heavier weights to this.Overall a good purchase

These are great! The only downfall is that the rubber guards on one side of the stand were missing. When I reached out to CAP customer service to see if they could send me the rubber guards, I never received a response. Bummer, because I want to ensure the nice finish on the dumbbells doesn't get scratched from the rack.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, we bought this set for 1 reason: the 25s. You could’ve bought the set with 5s-20s for $50 cheaper but you DIDNT. Because even when you’ve paid for a gym membership, what’s the one thing that’s eluded you? Sole access to the 25lb dumbbells. Every gym for some reason only has 1 set and they’re always in use. So yeah, this set of weights alone is worth it just for the 25s. Oh and the little weight tree it comes with - absolute tank. Cute little thing and makes it look like more fun to go over and pick up the heaviest ones on the rack! (25s I’m looking at you again). Cost effective set and hey, my arm muscles don’t know the difference between these and the $300 set. Be aware when you purchase these they will send them fresh and still steaming from the molds of Mount Olympus - so they will smell like rubber for a few weeks. Store them in your garage during that time and get over it. If you are on the fence, suck it up and buy it. Have fun with them, put little Xmas lights on it. Cheers.

These weights are incredibly stinky and oily. When they arrived the boxes weren't even fully sealed from transport. There are clear defects in some weights. The defects aren't an issue since the weights are at a price where you won't lose money on them reselling. The problem is they are so incredibly stinky that I can't even use them inside. I put them outside to air out and it stinks super bad even on the back porch. It's been almost a week outside and they still stink. I don't believe this material would be harmful but it sure is nasty I even washed them with soap and water before I put them outside. I suppose going to a store and verifying the smell and paying a premium might be worth it. For the value and since I can always sell this for what I bought it for it's a solid price for these weights but you will have to deal with the smell or find ways to get rid of it. Updated to one star: After over a week outside, this product still has an overwhelming, unpleasant smell, even in open air. The support process is equally frustrating. Clicking on "product support" leads to an overseas phone number, and filling out their form requires excessive information for a simple query. I've tried soaking and scrubbing the items in soapy water, left them outside to air out, and yet the smell remains unbearable.
