The optical quality and performance of this glass is outstanding. I own the previous EF version as well and this is simply a better lens -- and that one is no slouch. Unlike its larger-aperture cousin its light and small enough to not be ridiculous when carrying it around on the camera; yes, the (much) more expensive version does have one more stop of light-gathering, but at commensurate cost in both money and mass. If you need it then you do, but for non-moving subjects, unless you want the bokeah of the larger-aperture the IS (which does an excellent job of compensating for "you" shake but cannot do anything to stop the motion of the subject) means you probably don't. What i liked most about this lens was the high quality of the images it produces at any focal leng, great files using it with our canon R3 and R5, also is one of the canon lens that has incredible focus speed and accuracy. The stabilizer is so good and more if it is combined with canon IBIS.

    • Beautiful lens for the Canon R5
Looking forward to using this more but so far it has worked just fine with my Canon EOS R5. The lens was in brand-new condition as far as I can see and there have been no problems connecting with the R5. A minor point, but I find the sleek outer design more attractive than my old 24-105 mm lens.

I have the kit lens, also a 24 to 105, and this lens is far superior. Image quality is awesome. I would recommend this upgrade to everyone.

Finally got my new camera, EOS R5 and went to try this refurbished lens that I ordered previously only to find the lens its gets into the shot at 24mm and slowly clears up as you increase the focal length. It's disappointing because I can use the lens as intended in any given situation. It's the only Canon RF zoom lens that I own...See the edges of the photo and the lens malfunction that creates terrible vignetting. ... show more

All I can say is wow there is no comparison between this awesome lens and the kit lens that came with my R8. It says renewed, but you can absolutely not tell this lens from brand new Also, a savings of $274 over new and literally no compromise. Fear not purchase this lens!
