A Smarter Camera Means Better Photos and VideosSmart AUTOGetting that great shot is as simple as pressing the shutter button on the PowerShot ELPH 135 camera. Smart AUTO automatically detects scenes by assessing various factors in both the background and the subject and analyzes them using 32 predefined shooting situations. The camera then makes optimal settings to ensure the best possible image capture, whether you're shooting stills or video. With Smart AUTO, all you have to do is frame your shot and capture away.Shooting Modes Smart AUTO The camera automatically selects the best shooting settings for optimal quality based on subjects and environmental factors to provide point-and-shoot simplicity. Program The camera automatically and intelligently selects the aperture/shutter speed combination based on the shooting conditions. Live View Control Enables Brightness, Color, and Tone adjustments to your images using easy-to- understand controls. Digital IS The camera digitally corrects image blur by analyzing the subject prior to choosing the best correction method. Portrait Brings the subject into focus while beautifully blurring the background. Low Light For high quality image capture in an amazing range of dimly lit situations. Fisheye Effect Now you can get the fisheye effect – a classic photographic distortion – without a fisheye lens. Miniature Effect Give images a miniature look with an effect that emphasizes perspective by blurring the top and bottom of the image. Toy Camera Effect Simulates photos taken with "toy" or pinhole cameras, darkening the image at the edges to create a vignette effect. Monochrome Choose from three single-tone effects: Black-and- White, Sepia, or Blue. Super Vivid Super Vivid intensifies existing hues, saturating the scene with bright colors. Poster Effect Poster Effect combines several similar shades into one color, turning subtle gradations into eye- catching, scene-popping contrasts. Snow Shoot clear snow scenes without darkened subjects or an unnatural bluish tint. Fireworks Create brilliant images of skyrocketing fireworks. Long Shutter Use to blur moving subjects for artistic effect, ideal for urban night photography. Movie Record video; unwanted scenes can be deleted in playback mode. Actual results may vary from examples shown above. Final image may vary depending on picture composition.Say Goodbye to BlurDigital ISDigital IS beats the blur that mars many shots by recognizing the main subject, then automatically applying the camera shake correction that best suits the situation. If the subject is a person, blur reduction processing is performed. For landscapes, cityscapes and other still scenes, the camera takes 3 quick successive shots and composes them into a single clear image. If the subject is moving, the camera takes 3 successive shots and then automatically saves the clearest image.More Ways to Get CreativeCreative Shooting ModesThe PowerShot ELPH 135 provides shooting modes that easily give your shots a distinctly artistic feel without the need for any extra lenses and filters. Super Vivid heightens and saturates colors for eye-popping intensity. Poster Effect eliminates gradations between colors for an illustrative feel. Miniature Effect enhances perspective in a scene, blurring the top and bottom to make it look as if it were created with miniature models. You can also make a quirky portrait using the Fisheye Effect or add a beautiful single-tone effect with Monochrome. Toy Camera Effect simulates a vintage look as if capturing the photo using a "toy" or pinhole camera.A Charge that Lasts as Long as a MemoryECO ModeThe PowerShot ELPH 135 features ECO Mode to provide more shots per single charge through LCD monitor and camera power management. The mode can be activated via a dedicated button for easy power preservation when you are out for the day or the moment is too important to put the camera down. ECO Mode quickly wakes the camera from sleep when a button is pressed so you won't miss the moment.Help You Won't Need Help to FindHelp ButtonThe PowerShot ELPH 135 camera is designed to be fun and easy to use, even for beginners. A Help Button on the camera's exterior brings up the help menu any time you need it, right on the LCD screen. From here, you can scroll through a variety of topics that answer your questions with clear explanations, offer helpful shooting advice, and show you diagrams highlighting the position of any buttons you'll need.

  • Left in mud, rain and snow for a week. Still work great
Color: Purple Style: Base
This is solid state. It takes fine pics and works as billed. Pics and video upload easily. This is my 4th Canon Elph over the past decade. (I dropped on in a Lake, One was stolen, One was damaged by sand at the Ocean beach) -The 4 year old one I dropped in the lake I found 20 minutes later. The card was still good. The stolen one was returned 2 weeks later, found in bushes half a mile from our house. It had been rained on several times. The lens would not close, it was blurry. I let it dry out, took it apart, blew it out with compressed air, and blew hot hair dryer on it. It isn't perfect but it works. The one damaged at the beach - Canon fixed for free. This camera ELPH135 -I dropped in a muddy yard in NY. After it was rained on, frozen into the ground, and snowed on -my sister found it when the snow melted. She had to war to get it out of the ice. She let it sit for a week, then used it to film her daughters concert and mailed it to me . It works perfectly. ... show more

  • For outdoor use only
Color: Red Style: Base
This camera is horrendous for anything other than bright sunny days outdoors. I admit, my "real" camera is a full frame is DSLR that I use entirely on manual. But for trips into the city, or day-trips to the beach, sometimes I don't want to deal with the big camera AND kids, AND stuff. I just want a camera, better than my phone, to toss in my bag and be able to capture a few memories when they happen. I knew that chances were good that I was not going to be entirely happy with a point-and-shoot (that's why I have a DSLR!), but I didn't expect it to be this bad. There's no "sports" (action/kids, whatever you want to call it) mode. The specs say it will shoot up to 1/2000 sec, but I couldn't force it to go above 1/40 indoors. If I'm shooting a 28mm lens on my real camera, at 1/40, I'm grabbing a tripod. Heck, I'm putting it on a tripod for anything less than 1/100. Forget about using the zoom indoors (zoom magnifies camera/hand shake). I was braced against the wall, elbows propped up a desk and I still couldn't get a clear image. Turning on the flash helps a little bit, but the colors end up washed out, and there's no way to control the brightness of the flash, in camera (I've put a tissue over the flash before when using a point-and-shoot, which helps, but on Day 1 with this camera i was not in the mood for workarounds.) I used the "Program" mode to try increase the ISO, thinking that will encourage a faster shutter speed, but no luck. I just got a very noisy image. (Color and luminance noise were equally horrible). The lowlight setting seems to just employ in-camera smoothing that results in a loss of detail. I had an Elph five or so years ago, prior to getting my DSLR, and I was happy with it, but I remember it having many more features. Time to go research other cameras. ... show more

  • Good camera
Color: Purple Style: Base
Great camera! Technology has come a long way from the little instant cameras you had to wait and process the film. I'm not a high techie kind of person, so this camera works really well for us. I turn it on, point and shoot and look to see if it's good enough or if I have to take another. I'm sure we don't even use it to it's full potential. But is fine for us and didn't even have to spend a lot for it. I've seen other people who ding the stars just because it didn't do all of that magic hocus pocus tech stuff. If that's what you want, you need to spend the money and buy that kind of camera. But if you just want something to take pictures of the family, vacations, etc. then you can't go wrong with this one. I'm updating my review because someone wanted to know how close you could before it got blurry. This picture was taken within an inch of my lilacs. It is beautiful. I left it on auto and put the camera up next to the bloom. Then I backed away and zoomed in, that photo turned out a little blurry and focused in on the background flowers. ... show more

  • So disappointed
Color: Purple Style: Base
I really liked the look, size and feel of this camera. It fit in my jeans pocket! I was excited to find a camera that small and lightweight for travel and the price was great. I wanted to like this camera. And then I started taking pictures and they were very grainy. We tried troubleshooting with the manual and trying different settings, lighting conditions and so forth. I really wanted to like this camera. Despite our efforts to improve quality, it remained unacceptable. (One good feature is that we found this camera and manual to be pretty easy to navigate.) The quality issue was present even when pictures were viewed on a computer monitor. For comparison, the pictures were well below the quality that I take with my iphone 4S. If the picture quality had been even comparable to my iphone, I would have kept this camera for travel as keeping the iphone charged while sightseeing all day can be challenging, especially when using it for multiple purposes. I am not a camera snob so when quality is below my acceptable standards, beware. The result is that I am returning this camera. My old Canon Powershot A570IS with only 7.1 megapixels takes much better quality pictures, but is at least twice the size. I'm hoping this old camera will last through one more trip so we have more time to research small travel cameras. ... show more

  • Small and easy on auto mode
Color: Purple Style: Base
Small and easy on auto mode. I like to have great pics with ease. It takes a bit of a learning curve as there are lots of settings if you want to haave different choices. Like the forced flash has to be set on LIVE mode, I use my camera on Auto and go. Night time pics and flash fill always take a bit of work to get to. Great for quick pics to capture memories. ... show more
