Well here I am 2.5 years later after purchasing this camera, and I cannot say enough how satisfied I am with it. I am now looking to get the next model up to upgrade, as over the years my lens has gotten a couple scuffs. That is totally understandable as I have taken this camera along on countless camping and hiking trips, up and down mountains, stuffed it in backpacks and pockets and pouches, and dropped it i don't even know how many times. And yet, after all that this, the camera still works perfectly minus the scuffs. I think 2.5 years of heavy use and thousands upon thousands of photos and videos is pretty awesome! As for the picture quality, I find it to be great! The pictures are large and clear, especially in natural daylight, and that makes for easier editing and cropping. It is pretty easy to get this camera out, turn it on, and snap a photo quickly while still usually getting a good focus. This camera has gotten me many photos from my trips that people have complimented and recommended I enter into contests. The video is what you would expect from a 720 recording. As with many cameras of this style it's low light performance is a bit lacking, but still better than most I have seen (plus being able to manually adjust ISO and use long exposure for shots is a HUGE help!). I highly recommend the Canon PowerShot line as a go-to 'point and shoot' style camera for any level photographer, with it's ease of use, durability, and quality. ... show more

I really like this camera. The shipping was fast, it wasn't a bad price, and it takes a decent photo. The battery does take a good amount of time to charge and keep in mind it does not come with a memory card. But, it really is a good camera. However, if you are a professional photographer, I don't recommend this camera. It's great for kicks and a few spontaneous photos and videos, but not for a professional camera. It's a good fit for someone who isn't crazy about taking photos/videos but likes to have a good one when they need to snap a few on vacation and such. Overall, not a bad product at all. Great little camera! We bought this specifically for a vacation we recently took to the Caribbean. While we both have gotten used to using our great cameras on our smart phones, we weren't planning on carrying them everywhere with us, and figured this would be a good fill in. If you've been just using a smart phone for all your pictures, you're missing out. I forgot how nice it is to have a real camera, especially a point and shoot that works so well. This camera takes great pictures, the auto focus / image setting works very well if you give it the 1/2 a second it needs to adjust, if you're needing a quick shot, the reaction time from pushing the button to the picture being taken is instantaneous. Pros: Great picture quality Very compact size, smaller than a deck of cards Battery easily lasts a full day or more. Quality video. Fast, turns on quick, takes pictures quickly Zoom gets you in for a better shot Cons: Couldn't find a waterproof bag that listed this camera in it's compatibility list. But we did, manage to get one to work. Great camera, highly recommend it. It's not a super high end camera, but it takes better shots than my Galaxy 4S and I was really happy with those pics until I saw these. ... show more

This camera is horrendous for anything other than bright sunny days outdoors. I admit, my "real" camera is a full frame is DSLR that I use entirely on manual. But for trips into the city, or day-trips to the beach, sometimes I don't want to deal with the big camera AND kids, AND stuff. I just want a camera, better than my phone, to toss in my bag and be able to capture a few memories when they happen. I knew that chances were good that I was not going to be entirely happy with a point-and-shoot (that's why I have a DSLR!), but I didn't expect it to be this bad. There's no "sports" (action/kids, whatever you want to call it) mode. The specs say it will shoot up to 1/2000 sec, but I couldn't force it to go above 1/40 indoors. If I'm shooting a 28mm lens on my real camera, at 1/40, I'm grabbing a tripod. Heck, I'm putting it on a tripod for anything less than 1/100. Forget about using the zoom indoors (zoom magnifies camera/hand shake). I was braced against the wall, elbows propped up a desk and I still couldn't get a clear image. Turning on the flash helps a little bit, but the colors end up washed out, and there's no way to control the brightness of the flash, in camera (I've put a tissue over the flash before when using a point-and-shoot, which helps, but on Day 1 with this camera i was not in the mood for workarounds.) I used the "Program" mode to try increase the ISO, thinking that will encourage a faster shutter speed, but no luck. I just got a very noisy image. (Color and luminance noise were equally horrible). The lowlight setting seems to just employ in-camera smoothing that results in a loss of detail. I had an Elph five or so years ago, prior to getting my DSLR, and I was happy with it, but I remember it having many more features. Time to go research other cameras. ... show more

First digital camera, I wanted something inexpensive and easy to use that would take quality pictures. This has been a delight to use. Was trying to take a picture of something very close up for the first time yesterday and it was coming out blurry--found the close-up setting in the menu, set it to auto, and it came out perfect. The little memory card holds tons of pictures and is easy to swap out, as is the battery for charging. I also got an accessory kit that comes with a spare battery, screen protector, case, AC/DC charger and a tiny tripod I thought was a joke but works perfectly. UPDATE: Still working perfectly after five years. I'm basing this review on this camera as compared with the earlier Canon Powershot ELPH 110, which I assumed was a comparable model. I've had my little 110 for a few years now and it's delivered amazingly high-quality images for the cheap little point-and-shoot it is, which is why I always take it with me where ever I go and have used it as my only camera for extended travel. Unfortunately a friend dropped it and now the aperture has to be set manually, which is why I decided to replace it with what seemed to be the analogous model from the current line. As soon as I opened the box I was dismayed with the plastic casing, which makes the camera seem extremely flimsy and cheaply made. I even had trouble shutting the door to the battery compartment and was afraid I would break it. I'm pretty sure this camera would be toast after being dropped even once, whereas the 110 was actually dropped three times, and still basically works. The real deal breaker though was the lack of a manual mode, which allows you to adjust the exposure and choose from a few different flash settings (basic and slow-synchro). It seems like it would be worth the extra money to buy the 150, though I haven't done enough research on that model to know if these issues are addressed. In conclusion, this is probably a great camera for someone who just wants to take snapshots of their family etc. (not that there's anything wrong with that!), but it's not appropriate for anyone who's even remotely serious about creating artistic, quality images. ... show more

Replaced another camera that I lost, so I thought price was economical. At the time I placed the order I did not know that I had to order a separate UBS to transfer photos to my computer for printing. Also, if you need to take photos in the spur of the moment; you need to wait until battery is charged. You will need to anticipate when you will need the camera or rely on your phone. Otherwise takes decent photographs although camera has been discontinued by manufacture. ... show more
