Before purshasing I did a crazy amount of research on all the Canon, Brother and HP models. Got this as a home printer at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, which the main printing being letter but also a fair amount of large format 11x17 (ledger) spreadsheets. Have also printed photos to frame in 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10. Print quality and functionality is excellent across the board. This thing is not small and takes up a fair amount of desk space, but that comes with the territory if you want large format printing. It does eat ink at a decent clip, but I just order off-brand cartridges at a fraction of the cost and have had no issues to date. There is only one tray, so the best approach is to keep one size in the tray and one in the rear load. I keep letter in the tray, ledger in the rear and for the few times I need legal I just swap out the rear load. Duplex works great and scanning is also pretty good - has options to save to file, load into an email, ectetera. I've had no problems at all printing from WIFI as some reviews claimed - wifi sync has been flawless from computers and phones. the unit wakes up from a sleep and prints when I hit print - you just have to keep the panel open. Bottom line if you want something compact or the cheapest ink option this isn't for you, but if your priority is maximum flexibility, features and solid performance this is your machine. ... show more

    • Excellent option for home printers.
All I can say is "WOW!" I had a Pixma MP800 that i had to replace as there were no updated drivers for Windows 10 and printing photos or color made me think the print head was bad (it wasn't). Did a lot of shopping and feature comparison and was pleased to find that my best option was once again a Canon. This printer has amazing color, prints beautiful photos, has easy to use software for digital scanning and photo manipulation. And it prints 11x17! Do wish it automatically placed a short cut on the desktop during install, but that's no big. Don't understand the quality complaints - while this printer does not seem as sturdy as my last Canon, it is still better quality than my HP all-in-one that it (also) replaced. The flip up front control panel does worry me regarding durability, however, I don't beat up my electronics and only worry about my cat using it as a launch pad. Love my Canon Pixmas! Worth every penny, without as many pennies I thought I would have to spend! Unless Canon turns to crap, I will probably never buy another manufacturer printer again! ... show more

This is a great printer for your home office. I use it for printing package labels, presentations and documents. The ink last a decent amount of time as well. Haven’t had any printer issues. Cons: - Wireless connectivity can be spotty. Printing from your phone sometimes doesn’t work. - I wish the paper tray was bigger to hold more paper. - Canon printer ink is pretty expensive I would recommend this print for medium printing use. ... show more

I bought this to replace a older Canon IP4500 that had been a good printer over the years. Over 15 years old. What I liked usb and wireless connection Auto document reeder ADF Ability to print on CD’s & DVD’s Print speed & quality What I didn’t like Space needed behind printer to use rear paper tray Larger size, not a big issue for me, but something to consider for desk space I did have some issues getting the printer to print from my Android phone, and my iPad, but I did eventually get it to work. I have printed photos, a CD, and some documents, and they look great, I have also scanned some documents and I am very pleased with the results, I hope this lasts as long as my last Canon printer did ... show more

I was a bit concerned about buying this printer because the reviews were so mixed. But I have owned two previous Canon printers...one I still own and it still works great. I was more than satisfied with both. But I needed a printer that could print on 11x17 paper so I ordered this one. The day it arrived I attempted to set it up but kept getting error messages saying that there was something blocking the print head movement. It seemed obvious to me that the head could not move all the way over to the right but there was nothing I could remove to make it work. I called Amazon who wanted to transfer me to Canon but it was Saturday....they were closed. I was impressed with the format Apple used to handle the problem and the follow up they scheduled, but it was clear I needed to call Canon for assistance.Apple did set up a follow up scenario to make sure that Canon provided the correct assistance. I called Canon today, explained what I thought the issue was and they were very helpful. They arranged to ship a new unit to me at once ( got the confirmation this afternoon) once I sent them the documentation of the purchase etc. oOnce the new unit is received, I am to return the defective unit. I am hoping the second printer is fine. My previous experience with Canon printers has been great. So I will give this a 5 star review for both Amazon’s and Canon’s response. Sometimes you need to judge a company on how they respond to a problem not just on the product itself. If the second unit fails to satisfy, I will update this. Update....I was away for a week but Canon sent my replacement right on schedule. The replacement unit worked great. Connecting to WIFI (with the help of a google search ) took 10 minutes. Bottom line: Happy with Amazon's support (they followed up twice) Happy with Canon's support. Happy with the printer. Update 2/2021. There are no words to express how much I hate this printer. I constantly get a n=message saying oy=ut of paper and the a QCR that it wants me to read to figure out how to fix it. I'm done. This is my last Canon after 20+ years ... show more

    • Don’t waste your time.
I purchased this printer about a year ago, and ever since I’ve had issues with it, you might as well spend more money and buy a better printer or just buy a different brand altogether. The printer is nice for basic things, but when it comes to anything besides computer paper expect to wait 5 to 10 minutes for a single sheet to print out, I purchased this printer to make prints of my artwork, when I scan them it takes up to two minutes, after that like I said it can take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes for the machine itself to read your work and then print it. I can’t even begin to tell you how many error codes, all the little things that this printer will do to stop itself from printing, I have lived in three separate places with this printer and it still can’t work with the Wi-Fi more than half the time. Majority of the time it will stop printing halfway through and spit you out an error code or tell you that it can’t connect to Wi-Fi, and good luck using your phone with this it doesn’t wanna link up only when it wants to. The printer prints out mediocre Prints, it may take 20 minutes but the majority of the color that you want to be there won’t be there I should’ve bought the Epson printer. Overall when I spent $500 on this piece of junk a year ago, I did not know what I was getting myself into, canon itself can’t provide an accurate description so I had to get on QVC and watch two middle-age women present it to me. Don’t waste your time with this printer. Unless you enjoy waiting an hour or two to print five pages, not to mention the feed slot on the back only excepts one piece of paper, have fun. ... show more

    • Disappointed but at least it's working
Nice printer, but it arrived with no cords. Box looks like its been drug around a lot, and also taped shut a few times. The styrofoam packing was broken up. Honesty in selling is the best policy, or should be. Fortunately, I have a cord from another Canon printer that fits.

    • A Perfect Card Crafter Printer
I love this printer as it has a back tray that will print up to 12x12 cardstock paper. Due to MY fault, I had to replace my old TS9520 printer with a new one. This printer is hard to find. The setup was easy and even though it comes with a dvd to download the software do not frett. My PC does not have a cd player in it and I was able to download the software directly from the Canon website. Since I live in Florida, humidity with paper took a toll on my older printer. With my new printer, I will now load paper from the back tray when I am ready to print documents. Also I will not leave paper in the cassette tray until I am ready to print due to the humidity. It accepts 3rd party ink cartridges in the printer if you want to save $$ on cartridges but still recommends using Canon cartridges. I have had NO issues using 3rd party cartridges. I have Xfinity internet and had no issues with connecting via Wifi. This has no fax so I do a lot of print and scan documents only. ... show more
