  • Great camera for the money. Canon is quality.
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
I hemmed and hawed between this Canon and the Sony ZV E10. I must’ve had both in my cart for a week and did a ton of research. In the end I went with Canon because I’m more familiar with their cameras and menus than I am Sony and this is a newer model so hopefully a bit more future proofed than the Sony (8/21). Maybe that’s irrational but 3 years is a lifetime in technology and this is as much a tech tool as it is a camera. Coming from the full frame and features of the R5 is kind of painful but that’s the difference between a $500 body and a $2k body. The crop is slightly annoying but I can’t deduct a star since it’s just what’s available at this price point and there aren’t any full frames for this price. Comparisons to the R5 aside this is a great camera and shoots beautiful footage. I mostly use it for video and it performs exceptionally well. No problem hooking up any accessories to it. Had no issues with wireless lav mics or shotgun mic. Streaming is a breeze with it and it makes for a hell of a webcam if you do any type of vlog or podcast. Was able to get a lens adapter so I can use some EFS lens with it and no issues there. The lens adapter also reduces the crop so that’s a plus. Only wish it was fully supported by the firmware on my DJI RS3 mini but I think this is more a DJI issue than a canon one. You can control the shutter but that’s about it. Hopefully the DJI gods will send us an update soon. All in all no regrets. It’s no R5 but it gets the job done and I was able to get nice mics, lights, gimbal and a ton of accessories for less than the R5’s body. *I mostly use it for content creation which is a semi hobby / freelance. ... show more

  • Great quality
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
I love this camera I originally bought this for its size since I was taking it to Europe and didn’t want a bulky expensive camera . This did the work. Sharp pictures as well as videos. Great quality.

  • Amazing beginner camera! (Mode dial issues are possible..)
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
Very good beginner camera for people who want to get into take pictures. Can attach a variety of decent lenses for the camera as well. I love this thing and it works very well. Only thing is that the wheel part that turns the camera on and changes the modes can apparently be faulty with this model and can become stiff or break off. Mine was working for about a year and it broke off sudenly from just turning it normally. Good news is that this is a known issue with cannon with this model. So if you call them, they should be able to fix it for free if you have the serial number. But hopefully you dont run into that issue.. ... show more

  • Great starter camera
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
This was my starter camera for my photography business. It’s a perfect budget friendly option for those just starting out.

  • I use it as a webcam, and for videos.
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
The R50 is intuitive. It's designed in a way that doesn't intimidate beginners, offering a gentle learning curve. What genuinely stands out for me is its performance as a webcam for streaming. The quality difference between this and a standard webcam is significant. The setup was simple, and it instantly elevated the production value of my streams. The auto mode proves especially useful, automatically adjusting focus and lighting to ensure I always look my best on camera without needing to tweak settings constantly. It's compact, making it easy to integrate into my existing setup without clutter. For its price point, considering the substantial improvement in stream quality, the Canon EOS R50 has been an excellent investment. It's a top recommendation for those looking to upgrade their streaming visuals without getting bogged down by overly complex equipment. ... show more

  • Terrible. A T3 from 2011 can beat this thing? Sreioisly?
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
So far this thing is terrible. I can't make a decent photo toy save my life. I can pull out my old beginner camera. An old T3 beginner camera and smoke this thing all day long. My T3 takes amazing photos. This camera doesn't.

  • Great deal on this camera
Style: Camera w/RF-S18-45mm Lens
Although sold as 'renewed, excellent condition', the unit I received appeared to be unopened and unused. The box was in excellent shape, and everything inside was still wrapped in factory packaging. The lens even had an unbroken Canon tape seal on the bag. I previously purchased a Canon 2000D (Rebel T7) that was the same way - sold as renewed, but new and unused in factory packaging. YMMV, but I've had really good experiences with 'renewed' cameras so far. Shipping was fast. A UPS label had been created within a couple of hours of me placing the order, and I had the camera in two days, as promised. I'm still familiarizing myself with the R50, but having used Canon for years, it's very similar. It's much smaller and lighter than my 2000D or T2i, and even a little smaller than my old PowerShot SX20 IS. The feature set, however, is far beyond my older cameras, and I love having a touchscreen for control. I got an EF to RF adapter so I can use my older lenses, and they work perfectly with the R50. If you want a flash other than the built-in, however, you're pretty much stuck buying a Speedlite EL-5 or EL-10. Canon does make a hot shoe adapter, but it appears to be unobtanium. So far I'm quite happy with the R50, and very happy to have saved $150 by buying 'renewed'. ... show more
