The EOS R5 builds off of the powerful legacy of Canon’s full frame cameras offering next generation refinements in image quality, performance and reliability. The EOS R5 can capture fast moving subjects in high speed burst. At up to 12fps with mechanical shutter and up to 20fps with silent shutter, the EOS R5 can capture the split-second details between a subject’s movement. Especially helpful for wildlife photography, journalism and situations where photographers need to remain discrete, the EOS R5 camera features a selectable electronic (silent) shutter mode, and can capture images at up to 20 fps. Subject detection adopted from the Live View AF tracking system in the EOS-1D X Mark III brings Face, Head and even Eye tracking when People detection is set, providing ease and accuracy when capturing stills or video. Detection of Animals will also be possible for the first time in a Canon camera, effectively tracking the whole body, face, or eye of cats, dogs, or birds for speed and precision. Canon’s first camera to incorporate 5-axis IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization), the EOS R5 will not only enhance the ability to shoot still images at slower shutter speeds but it will also help reduce camera shake when shooting movies. Additionally, the EOS R5’s IBIS will work in combination with Optical Image Stabilization found in many Canon RF and EF lenses. Focus tracking is also available, for footage that looks so good you’d think it was shot on a Hollywood budget. As well as delivering life-like image quality, 8K resolution allows editors to crop-in on footage and still output a 4K final cut. There are plenty of options for shooting in 8K on the EOS R5: With a choice of DCI or UHD aspect ratios, ALL-I, IPB and low bit rate IPB compression methods and Canon Log 1 and 3 or HDR PQ options. Frame rates of 23.98p, 24p, 25p or 29.97p are available, helping you achieve the look and feel you want. 8K can even be recorded to high speed SD (v90) cards when using IPB compression options. 8K RAW provides the highest level of image quality and flexibility: capture four times as much resolution as 4K, and change parameters such as white balance after footage has been shot, using Canon Cinema RAW Development software or your favorite non-linear editing application.* 8K RAW is available in a standard or compressed for small video files still with RAW flexibility.
