  • Perfect smaller lens
Perfect lens for my rebel EOS. I wanted a smaller lens to carry and this is is exactly what I needed

  • I’m in love, it’s amazing
I’m in love with this lens! It has a great price, is lightweight and has a 2.8 aperture that really makes low light photography possible. I’m honestly stunned with how well it performs. It’s a great companion for my 18-55 kit lens and 55-250 lens. And honestly sometimes I just take the lens solo when I know I can zoom with my feet. However, pay attention to how it mounts on. The first one I received was defective and was too tight on the mount (felt like it would break to put it on and nearly impossible to take it off). So I returned it, got a replacement and now it works great. ... show more

  • Solidly Built, Clear Photos, Excellent Wide Angle Lens
I use it primarily for shooting the stars at night. The lens is simple (24mm fixed focal length), fast (f/2.8), and images are very precise, which is needed to capture the subtle variations of the stars. Although I don't use auto focus at night, the auto focus came out very clear in tests I did during daylight hours, too. The first two photos I included are without any post-processing. Post-processing would remove some of the speckling between the stars in the night shot. The speckling is caused by noise in the camera from the long (2 second) exposure and high ISO (12,800) setting. The day shot is with auto focus and other automatic settings enabled. The third shot includes post processing, but you can't get a good final product unless you start with good images to begin with. Now, all of that said, I also performed some very precise tests of this lens with the lens set wide open, at f/2.8. The tests used a field of very small white dots against a black background. What I found is that there is a very slight chromatic aberration for all dots, and a combination of coma and astigmatism around the edges of the image. In other words, I wouldn't use this lens for making poster-sized images with lots of fine detail around the edges. Not a huge surprise for such a simple lens design, but you get what you pay for. In summary, no lens is perfect and this one has its quirks like any other. But the field was flat, distortions were low, and (IMHO) for the price it was excellent. ... show more

  • Met my need for indoor photography
I was looking for a lens with a wider aperture for indoor photography and this one surprised me on how well it performed. The depth of field at the 2.5 f-stop really made subjects stand out. Very satisfied and looking forward to exploring this further.

I find this lens good for landscape or background photos. I'm not an expert with photography.
