Any dust is external, bought refurbished and it came in perfect condition. The lens is plenty fast on focus for my camera. Honestly don’t think this is entirely worth the money since the 1.4 is plenty good for most applications but I wanted just that extra bump that this lens provides and for that it’s worth it to me. I just received the lens yesterday. I haven’t used it in portrait photography yet but I did take a few random test shots to make sure the lens worked. Honestly I was a little apprehensive ordering a used lens online; normally I buy new. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the lens. If I didn’t know it was used I would think it was brand new. Didn’t come in a Canon box but did come in a pouch and with a lens hood, so that’s a plus. Looking forward to using it next weekend at which time I may edit my review to speak to the quality of the photos but from what I’ve seen so far I’m pleased with the purchase. ... show more

I was really skeptical about buying refurbished after reading a couple of reviews saying that their lenses weren’t in good shape upon delivery but was pleasantly surprised to receive mine in immaculate condition! I’ve attached the first photo I took using this lens below. I love it!

This is the lens I have been searching for! I do portrait photography and I have a 80D body and I already had the Canon 50mm 1.8, so as my business started growing, I purchased the 35mm 1.4 last year, and while the photos were sharp, it just wasn't the right look I was going for. super beat up. looks like it was a rental item that was refurbed. I would have paid $500 for this abused ite. the glass looks good but who knows if its actaull canon galss. More than likely will return.
