It hits the sweet spot for wildlife photography and I suspect will do the same for volcano shots as well. :) One feature that I've not seen mentioned that's a true joy for me is the placement of the focus ring. When shooting handheld, it's right under my left thumb, making it extremely easy to adjust focus on the fly. Absolutely love this lense! The clarity of the photos is amazing! The auto focus is VERY fast and relatively quiet. Image stabakzier works very well! The only down side is the lense weighs quite a bit but then again, it is massive. Came with a lense case and a strap for the case, I do wish it came with an instruction manual. If you're looking for a lense to get very crisp and clear pictures of hard to approach wildlife, this is your guy! ... show more
