In fact, my husband already sharpened some of the knives, and in his professional opinion, the steel is of good quality. We love to keep our knives in the drawer, so having that bamboo storage was one of the deal-breakers for us. I love the chef's and santoku knives - they are my favorite tools for food prep. They are balanced and fit nicely in the hand. Be careful with the carving knife - it has a very sharp point because of its curved shape, so one should be mindful of that. The media could not be loaded. Very sharp knives. To keep them this way you must hand wash, but they are able to be put in the dishwasher. I had the same problem with the drawer not being able to close, however I was able to remove the spacers on the side closest to the door and it fits perfectly. I bought these on sale when I moved into my first “big girl” apartment. I hated using cheap, flimsy and dull knives. I wanted a set that looked pretty, were substantial in terms of weight and material and would make my cooking prep efficient without breaking the bank. They were pricey in comparison to knife sets you can get at the grocery store or at Walmart, but these are in another caliber of quality! The in-drawer feature is amazing as someone who hates clutter on the kitchen counter, and I love the look of it when I open the drawer. These knives make me feel bougie. You must care for these the way you would expensive knives- hand wash only and I have noticed slight rusting between the blade and the base if I let them sit after washing without drying. Honestly, if I’m not slicing raw meat, I will just rinse the blade with hot water and immediately dry. This method has preserved the look of my knives. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and plan to make these last for years if I can! ... show more
