I bought this water heater to replace one of the first tankless models made by Bosch that had served us well for 15+ years. When we built our laundry room, it was much easier to get a small supplemental water heater than run hot water lines about 60 feet from our main water heater. So we only use it for a washing machine and a large sink. The Camplux has slightly more volumetric flow than the old Bosch, but 4.22 GPM is still too small for most domestic situations. It keeps up fine with the laundry and sink running hot at the same time. The Camplux only ignites when it is heating water and there is no pilot flame. But that comes with the tradeoff that you need to have a dedicated electrical outlet near where you install it. It also means that if the power goes out, no hot water. I would actually prefer to have a regular pilot, but I can live with the automatic igniter. At least this means the thermocouple won't go bad and extinguish the pilot as I have had happen in the past with other water heaters. It gets hot after a very short delay while it fires up. The delay is only slightly longer (maybe 5 seconds) than the delay our Bosch had, but our water heater is right next to our washing machine. The instruction manual was better than the majority of the water heaters I looked at, but it was still nearly useless and would be difficult for someone without any experience with water heaters to follow. At least it was in English. The way it hangs on the wall is also kind of stupid, so I used an alternate method. Since my situation requires the vent to penetrate the wall behind the water heater instead of toward the side, I couldn't mount it per their instructions. They have the hanger holes directly below the vent pipe, so how are you supposed to screw into a stud if you need the vent there? I just went to Home Depot and picked up a strip of aluminum, screwed the aluminum to two studs, and then screwed the water heater to the aluminum strip between the studs. Problem solved and it is practically invisible. Venting might be an issue if you need new a new vent. I went ahead and purchased a new vent pipe, but I must say that the new vent systems seem a lot less protective from fire than my old double-wall vent pipe. The new requirements seem like yet another building code scam to me. how is going from a 4-inch double-wall pipe to a 3-inch single-wall pipe safer and less likely to cause a fire? The only portion of the new pipes that are double-walled are where they go through the exterior wall. You are supposed to install a $60-$80 "wall thimble" where it penetrates to the exterior, so be prepared to pay a lot for a stainless steel piping system. (cheap galvanized sheet metal is more fire-prone than expensive stainless steel?) Look around and you can find a vent system cheaper than the $300-$400 Camplux and Rheem are charging for their pipes. I only paid $350 for the water heater, which is another reason these venting standards seem like a scam. Kind of like catalytic converters and Covid precautions. Sure they probably make some kind of difference, but not enough to make it worth the expense IMO. It's working great so far, but it has only been a week. I will update if something goes south.

Replaced old standing tank. Wait time for hot water is about what you'd expect for an upstairs shower (about 1min per 30ft distance from heater) Cut my gas bill in half because it only runs when I need hot water, and costs less than a new bulky heater tank. No issue with temp. Relies on system pressure, so no real concern about overpressured pipes, but you can install a tank if you want. (Contracted plumbers are required to install one because insurance) I had to run new end connections because the house is old, but so far no leaks and relatively easy to install

I live off grid and previously had a tankless water heater that sprung a leak. I expected this one to be easy to install. The product specs listed 1/2” water connects. If you are plumbed with 1/2” pex, you will need a 3/4” to 1/2” reducer. I had to make a 30 mile round trip back into town for these fittings. Once installed it runs beautifully with great constant water temps. Another note, if you are using a pump of any sort, the heater does need a constant pressure feeding it or it will shut off and water temps will fluctuate in the shower. Off grid is a little trickier than municipal water. The fan and baffles in the exhaust area are great features as well. Very happy so far with the performance of this water heater.

Bought one of these to replace a 30 gallon electric in my cabin. I live in southern Ohio where my tap water is in the low to mid 60s when it hits the water heater according to all of the water heater sizing charts. I measured my sink and shower at 2 gpm each and another sink at .5 gpm. That adds up to a maximum of 4.5 gpm through a 5.2 gpm heater. Installation was easy with the exception of having to fit it into a cramped area. I fired it up for it's test run and observed the following: Kitchen sink is about 6 feet away and at full flow the water temp rose from 48 to 118 degrees F. Put my wife in the shower which is about 10 feet of piping away and she reported that the temp was about the same as the 120 degree electric. I opened the kitchen sink fully and she reported some minor temp drop but not enough to have to adjust the shower. I opened the final bathroom sink and she reported the same results. Temperature wise it performed better than I expected BUT.... The shower and sink combination resulted in a noticeable drop in pressure and flow. There is and adjustment on the cold water inlet but the manual provides no information on what it does. The manual states that the temp is adjustable up to149 but the adjustment instructions will not achieve a setting above 120. The manual also states that when in use the display indicates the outlet temp but it only seems to show the set pressure. The vent piping reached about 145 degrees during operation. It is a little noisy but personally I won't be trying to sleep while it is running. It gets 4 stars due to the loss of pressure and lack of temp adjustment above 120 but otherwise it should save us about 10 kwh per day in electric costs...I have a smart meter installed that allows me to measure how much it used. The only thing left to figure out is how much propane it uses....

This is the third camplux product I have purchased. They have all worked as expected and lasted longer then expected under hard use. Solving problems that few companies are trying to solve. How a company handles a dispute is almost as important to me as the product itself, but even if I had a poor customer service experience. The products are good and unique, so I probably would have come back the next time I needed something they offered even if the customer service was poor. So when I had an issue that was mostly my fault they went the extra distance to help me out even when they didn't have to. Not a common experience these days but it's a surefire way to make a lifelong customer and makes their products easy to recommend.

Was replacing another camplux hot water heater that froze the new one I purchased did not come with the vent tube like the first one did and it is a bigger size so I could not reuse, so I looked up there vent kit and it cost more than the heater does bummer camplux! And when you install these heaters make sure you install a drain to winterize, compressed air will not get all the water out of it. This unit works better than the other unit I replaced, the temp can be selected and holds the temperature very well. I installed this unit in my camper and couldn’t be happier with its performance, unit is very quiet. My old unit had a 2.25 vent pipe this unit has a 3 inch vent pipe so I had to adapt from 3 inch to the smaller diameter to keep from having to buy another wall thimble and enlarging the hole. I’m very pleased with the performance!

Previously we purchased a cheaper alternative for an on-demand heater and we're sorry we made the choice. This one is wonderful! We simply need it for a shower that had no heat source away from the house. This one is undercover so we don't have to worry about it getting splashed by rain, and that way it also vents outside. But the quality of this one versus the one we had is considerably different Because this one is digital, we find it much easier to dial in a consistent temperature. Then the one we had previously that simply had a dial on the outside. As well, we have a well pump which makes the water pressure fluctuate and with this device, the water stays much more consistent to the temperature. We've requested. The temp fluctuates ever so slightly but not enough to complain for sure. For our purposes, this was exactly what we were looking for and it works well.
