  • Does not heat up quick as promised
The System does not heat up water that quick. It starts around 80 and it takes minutes to get to 100.

  • This has saved us so much time not boiling water.
I got this instant hot water heater for our cabin. We absolutely love it and couldn't be happier than I got it. I wish I'd couldn't it long ago. We used to have to boil water so that we could take spongebob at the cabin now as long as we have the generator going we can have hot water instantly. We can wash dishes with it or take showers with it; it doesn't matter. The water is a hot in a flash. Life is so much easier with this. The only reason for the four stars instead of five is because it was a little difficult in the beginning to install it. ... show more

  • You Do Need to Understand One Thing in Advance
This is a good investment. But that depends on what you need hot water for, and how quickly you need it. More on that in just a second. First off, it's a great way to get hot water in areas where you simply don't have a hot water heater. Or it's not practical to have one installed. It's definitely smaller than what I expected, which is both a plus, and something of a catch. The plus is that you can install it just about anywhere relative to the sink. The catch is that due to the size of the water heater, the temp of the water that comes out depends entirely on how slow or fast you run the water. Here's what I mean.... We have this installed at a steel structure that's near one of the well water pumps on our land. At the time of hooking the tankless heater up, the "inlet" water coming in was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. How much warmer or hotter do I need the water? That will totally depend on the flow rate that I choose. Say you have an empty one-gallon container (average size of a large plastic jug of milk). If my incoming water is 50 degrees, and I completely fill that one-gallon jug in 60 seconds, the water in the judge will be about 73 degrees (so 23 degrees warmer than the regular temperature). If you run the water fast enough so that you could fill TWO one-gallon jugs with water in one minute (just 60 seconds), the water would be about 60 degrees (so only 10 degrees warmer). But if I let it run slower, say enough to fill 40% of that jug over one minute, the end result is water closer to 110 degrees. 60 degrees hotter than what it was coming in. Long story short, you pick the target temperature you want for the water. But how fast that water comes out, will depend entirely on how hot you need it. And also where you live in the country will play a big factor in that. It will obviously take longer to produce 120 degree water for washing dishes in a hunting camp in Alaska in winter, than it would at a beach house in Southern Florida in July. So it does work well. You just really need to keep in mind that the flow rate will be impacted by how warm or hot you need the water. If you only need to rinse something off for 30 seconds at a moderate flow, you're golden. If you need 15 gallons of hot water in a sink to wash a full load of dishes with, it could take some time. All I'm saying is, make sure you understand what you need the tankless water heater for in advance. How much warm or hot water you'll need, how quickly you need it, how hot you need it to get. And that should help you decide whether it's suitable to get this smaller unit, or something considerably larger (if not a traditional hot water heater). So far so good on our end, though. ... show more

  • Very Compact. 40 Amp Circuit. 10AWG Wire Required
This tankless water heater is very compact. The design is very modern and clean. Installation is easy as long as your wiring and circuit are adequate. The MINIMUM requirement for this 120V water heater is a dedicated circuit breaker rated at 40 amps and 10AWG (gauge) wire, and it must be hard-wired. It is against all North American codes to put a plug on this setup. That said, once you have the proper wiring and circuit in place, installation is basically three steps. #1 mount the water heater to the wall using screws. #2 hook up water lines, paying close attention to the water inlet and outlet (don't reverse them). #3 wire directly to the installed dedicated electrical box near the water heater. The control can set the temperature on the front of the unit, but please be aware that two other factors also determine the water temperature. #1, the temperature of the supply water. And #2, how fast (Gallons Per Minute) the water moves through the heater. This unit will give approximately 40°F temperature rise at a .5 GPM flow rate. For instance, currently, our supply water temperature is 63°F, and at about .5 GPM, the hot water temperature is 105°F. We like it to be 120°F, so we have to slow the flow just a little. We have it installed in our laundry room. Thankfully that's about ten feet from the breaker panel. This is best used when you have a sink far away from your hot water storage tank. If we wanted hot water for the washing machine, we had to run water in the mop sink (at the end of the line) until we had hot water coming out. It usually takes 2 gallons before we get hot water to the mop sink in the winter. That's a lot of wasted water and electricity. In conclusion, this is an excellent point-of-use water heater. It does what it's supposed to do. For no more than we use it, it's perfect for our needs. I wish it were 240V because it would be less expensive to operate, but the unit cost would be higher. It is a bargain for less than one-hundred-thirty dollars unless you need to hire an electrician to run new wires and install a new circuit, which most people will have to do. Then it's less of a deal, and I would opt for a 240V model instead. However, I'm judging this for my situation, and I see no reason to give it less than five stars. ... show more

  • Great money saver!
This can be used in a variety of ways. We found that if we installed this by the kitchen sink, it would allow us to turn off the hot water heater during the day, saving energy throughout the day, and yet never run out of hot water to do the dishes and wash hands, or anything else we may need hot water for. My husband is a bit of a handyman so he is able to install these kinds of things fairly easily. An important thing to note is that this tankless water heater isn’t going to pump out hot water at the same rate and temperature as a regular water heater would, but for the kitchen sink, it does well. ... show more
