Bought this tripod but the legs don’t stay in a fixed position and move around and wobble. It does come with some sort of wrench, but I am not sure how I am supposed to tighten the legs when this tripod is hot over the charcoal fire. I think it’s a poor manufacturing design and the legs must lock. Safety hazard to say the least…. ... show more

I love that these fold up easily and can fit a 10.25 iron skillet. I do feel like the legs wobble a bit-they stay but wobble. I could see with use the bolts loosening. I haven’t used these over an open fire, just yet, but they already have a little paint chipping off. The ad says “heat resistant coating. It did come with replacement bolts for each leg. I think for as much as I’m going to use it, it will do fine…if you’re going to use this tripod Frequently, I would find something that is a little more sturdy. ... show more

This firepit cooking stand is a great addition to our camping and cooking gear. Light weight enough to pack with you, but heavy enough to be stable and, with some maintenance, last for a number of years. Each one comes as a set of legs and a ring you place in notches on the legs and that holds the thing together. To take it apart, just lift the ring off and the legs just drop to the ground. The stand is steel, not cast iron (that's why it's not 12lbs. just 4). That means that being in the fire, heated in the corrosive gases of the fire, it will rust! Badly! If you don't want it to rust away, you need to wire brush it and then oil it before you store it. If you want to be able cook with a soup/stew/fry pan on a fire, without trying to balance it on a rock, this pair of stands will take care of you, if you take care of them! ... show more

I got this tripod for alternative cooking methods to use on my fire pit in emergency situations and for our family summer nights. I will also take it on every picnic & camping trip. It folds up for easy packing & even came with two wrenches, four bolts & nuts. I love how it’s sold as a two-pack as I can slow cook on one side of the fire while cooking a second item on the other side. It’s heavy duty and will support my cast iron pots. I am disappointed that it only has three legs and that the bolts come loose every time it’s used. It could become a safety issue if not closely watched.
