This jacket is far more than I expected for the price...very warm, windproof and water resistant. Was very surprised when this really small light package arrived, thinking I got ripped off, but opened package and jacket was very nicely folded up in a cloth zippered "pod" bag (a plus) examined zippers, seams etc. everything looked good. So since our temps were dropping down to below zero with highs only going up to 8-10 for the next 2 weeks I figured what the heck give it a go...well what a wonderful surprise to find that even though this jacket appears light-weight I was wonderfully warm with just a sweater on underneath. This 3 way jacket will be a fabulous addition to my outside gear...the weight is perfect to carry backpacking because of the versatility-the shell is water resistant (snow and light rain ran right off havent tested in heavy rain yet) very wind proof, length is perfect, pockets on outside are huge and zipper shut, inside pockets are very deep as well, the hood is perfect with a little drip bill and has nice pulls for snugging it around ears. The fleece liner again appears light duty but combined with the windproof shell was perfect and will work as a separate layer when backpacking again sturdy zipper and nice pockets. I used this for a photography venture out on a morning that the air temp was -5f degrees with a steady wind with gusts causing a windchill factor of -20 to -30 degrees. I wore this with a medium weight sweater and thermal shirt and was very toasty for the hour I was out (hands just couldn't handle any longer with taking gloves off and on). The fit of this jacket for me was perfect...5'2" about 135lbs purchased a size up to allow for sweater or sweatshirt and still allow for freedom of movement for photography and it was a perfect fit! It is stylish and flattering not bulky looking. Tried to refold and pack down the way it came and it very easily folded up into the "pod" bag with room to spare for my hat and gloves, making this a perfect addition not only for my everyday use but for my wilderness backpack! ... show more

I will start with the only negative: Being that this is 2 jackets in one, with the inner jacket being fleece, the sleeves will catch on every single shirt sleeve every single time you try to put it on. Also, the fleece jacket sleeves were constantly trying to come out past the outer jacket sleeve at the wrist. These are not dealbreakers, they’re just annoying when you’re trying to get the jacket on and off quickly or having to get all your layers adjusted every time you put the jacket on. I found myself wishing I had gotten the jacket that was just a ski jacket with slick/smooth inner sleeves, not a winter coat system. Also the sleeves in general are quite long. I may get them shortened in an attempt to make wearing this jacket less irritating. Now for all of the positives! There are many. This jacket is waterproof. I wore it in Iceland in 40°F weather with sideways rain and my top half stayed dry. It is very well designed and I find attaching the fleece jacket inside the outer shell to be a very satisfying experience. The zippers, the snap loops, it’s all perfect and sturdy. The pocketssss! If you wear both jackets as one you will have 5 pockets- two side/hip pockets that zip, two large inside open pockets, and a chest pocket that zips. The hood is detachable, but stays firmly attached with a zipper at the nape of the neck and velcro in the collar of the jacket. The hood also has just a little bit of a flap/brim which helps if you get drizzled or rained on. The brim/flap looks much more pronounced in my photo than it is in real life. I didn’t know I wanted that, but it was much appreciated in all the rainy weather we found ourselves in. The hood is a bit big, but it is adjustable and it has room to wear a hat/beanie under it. For all my complaints about the inner fleece being annoying, I am looking forward to using only the outer jacket on a trip to the windy and cool California coast. I think it will be just right. This fits exactly as described. I got my regular size. I’m generally between a L-XL and I usually lean toward an XL bc I like to have a little room in my clothes. This XL fit nicely with enough room for layers underneath but it wasn’t a tent. This jacket held up extremely well on her maiden voyage, it does not look like it has had any wear at all. I live a warm subtropical climate so winter is rather abstract to me, and a shock to my system when I get into cold weather. I can’t say this jacket kept me entirely warm, but I wasn’t freezing cold. This coat is a great deal. It's a good price and I love all of the features. I love the detachable fleece liner, I love the color, and it really is waterproof (coming from someone in the PNW). I bought a Columbia jacket at first because I don't really need a heavy winter coat and I was afraid of buying a brand I didn't recognize. This one is so much better than the thin, expensive Columbia one. It's warm for the few wintery days I experience where I live and I can remove the liner and wear either just the fleece or just the outer jacket depending on the rain situation. So I was looking around for a new ski jacket and didn't want to spend a few hundred dollars. I ski maybe once or twice a year so I don't need anything super high end but it was super important that it was warm, waterproof, and comfortable. If you are considering this jacket, JUST BUY IT. Seriously, the quality and what you get for the price is amazing. It comes with a detachable inner fleece layer that is so comfortable and such a nice perk. The outer shell is waterproof, fits well, and is very comfortable and lightweight. I am 5'3" and the jacket hits right below my butt, I like that it's a little longer for me. It does not feel like a bulky jacket and I am so happy with this purchase. There are pockets with zippers which was a must so that nothing falls out, and there are also additional pockets on the front (chest) and inside. It also came packaged extremely well.
