Steel Tank Air Compressor The CALIFORNIA AIR TOOLS 20020 Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor is designed to be one of the quietest 2. 0 Hp air compressors in the industry having only 70 decibels of sound. The Powerful 2. 0 HP motor operates at only 1680 RPM creating less noise and less wear. The SP Series of Ultra Quiet Air Compressor Motors have been designed to increase duty cycle and allow for longer continuous run times. The Oil-Free Dual Piston Pump System is engineered for high performance and durability. The CAT-20020 Air Compressor has an Oil-Free Dual Piston pump designed to have a life cycle before wear of 3000 Plus hours compared to other comparable air compressors with life cycles of 500 hours or less. The Oil-Free pump allows for use in a variety of temperatures (cold starts) and uneven terrains (no oil in the pump). The Easy Start Valve feature allows for a easier start up using less starting amps. The Easy Start Valve releases a small amount of air from the pump at start up to produce a no-load condition allowing the motor to spin freely. This no-load start up requires less amps for a easier start up in cold temperatures. The large 20 Gallon Steel Air Tank is designed to store more air for higher demand air tools such as spray guns and sanders. Prefect for the shop or garage. I purchased this compressor a year back to replace the noisy Porter-Cable 6-gallon pancake compressor. I wanted something that can deliver a lot of air before the motor kicks in, but I also wanted something compact to fit in my small shop. This 20-gallon compressor fits the bill. It is quite compact at 20"L x 20"W x 45"H. I mainly use it for woodworking (pneumatic nailers, blow gun, die grinder, etc.). It works very well for those applications. In the future I plan to use it with an HVLP spray gun and I'm not expecting any issue with that. This compressor is very quiet (it's what California Tools is known for). Support is also excellent. My compressor had a small air leak in the manifold and they promptly sent out a replacement. So far I've been very happy with it. Highly recommended. ... show more

I purchased this to replace an extremely noisy Hussy compressor. It is indeed quiet as advertised and fills to pressure quickly. I am disapointed with the quality control of the applied control panel label. It looks like it is worn from years of use already.
