  • A Reliable Solution for Floor Gaps with Some Minor Drawbacks
Style: Vinyl & LVT Repair
I recently had the opportunity to use a floor gap filling kit to address the noticeable gaps between the boards in my recently installed flooring. Overall, the product proved to be a reliable solution, but there were a few aspects that left room for improvement. One of the standout features of the kit was its ability to seamlessly match the floor, effectively concealing the gaps between the boards. The included color chart was a valuable tool in this process, providing clear instructions on how to create the perfect color blend. Following the chart's guidelines resulted in a finish that seamlessly blended with the existing floor, enhancing its overall appearance. However, a notable downside was the quantity of the mixture when following the color chart. I found that the amount was insufficient to fill in the larger gaps between the floorboards adequately. This necessitated multiple rounds of mixing the color and putty, which, unfortunately, extended the overall application process. If I had been aware of this limitation beforehand, I would have opted to prepare a larger batch initially to streamline the application process. Despite this drawback, the effectiveness of the product in filling the gaps and the accuracy of the color matching process ultimately won me over. The kit's inclusion of a comprehensive color chart demonstrated a commitment to user-friendliness, making the entire process relatively straightforward. In conclusion, while the floor gap filling kit delivered on its promise of seamlessly concealing gaps and matching floor colors, the need for additional mixing and the possibility of underestimating the quantity required were slight inconveniences. With a bit of foresight and an understanding of the product's limitations, users can achieve satisfying results with this floor gap filling solution. ... show more

  • Very good product
Style: Vinyl & LVT Repair
I've used this twice, to fill and color small nicks in my kitchen vinyl floor. It works really well. The instructions have a color chart that you can hold on your floor to figure out which color best matches your floor. Then the instructions tell you exactly how to mix the different colors to get the color you need, and you mix it up and dab it into the chip. It holds up very well, and once it's in, you can't tell where the patch is because it matches very effectively. ... show more

  • Works but not easy
Style: Vinyl & LVT Repair
We had a split in an older solid vinyl floor. First we lifted the edges of the cut with a hair dryer and a putty knife to clean it out a bit. Then we glued with construction adhesive and weighted it for 24 hours. Then we started the coloring process with this kit. Matching colors was very difficult but some trial and error and a lot of patience later it is not perfect but better than a new $6000 floor. One tip. I found mixing colors using a little of their putty and regular acrylic craft paint was easier than the little drops of color in the kit. Also for the mottled look I used a very stiff flat top brush dipped in the paint and wiped almost clean then just dabbed on. ... show more

  • It actually seems to work pretty well!
Style: Vinyl & LVT Repair
As other reviewers have noted, you DO need to be at least reasonably comfortable working with your hands. But I'm neither particularly "handy" nor am I "artistic" and I could use this product to path Congoleum vinyl tiles pretty well. True, matching your color is tricky and the guide they provide probably won't get the job done for you. The trick is to get as close as you can, mixing colors and putty, as suggested and then try it out in a corner. Probably won't be quite right, so you have to go back and adjust your mix. But once you have it down, the product applies pretty well and dries nicely. Have no idea what the long-terms longevity or durability will be, but it's definitely better than all the divots in our (rather disappointing) Congoleum tiles. ... show more

  • How I got it to work
Style: Vinyl & LVT Repair
This stuff really kicks butt! You can blend it into your floor easily. If the repair is missing a lot of material it might be noticeable but barely if you blend it right. To get this to work and avoid many of the complaints here is what I did: 1. RTFM. Seriously, read the instructions. If you actually follow them, they work. 2. You will need more q-tips and make yourself some blend sticks. They don't have to be popsicle sticks, use whatever will work, but you still need quite a few. They get sticky. 3. I found its better to let it dry then clean it up with mineral spirits or paint thinner for the finer work (cleaning right around the area you just fixed). The reason for this is if any of the cleaner gets on the area it will change colors or ruin the adhesion. 4. PREP PREP PREP. This is the most important part. The area must be clean, including the floor underneath you need to stick to. Clean it all up according to the instructions, and then right before you apply your mixture, clean the area with alcohol and let the alcohol dry. This will remove any residue from the cleaners you used and make sure that it will stick. 5. Remember every once in a while it *might* dry a half shade darker. I've only had this happen once on a dark color, but it can happen. 6. Add texture or coloring lines AFTER it's all dried and good to go. I had to do this on a faux mosaic vinyl and doing it once it was dry it blended perfect. 7. If you had to fix a large area and have to do intricate lines or the like afterward, I put a tiny bit of clear coat over it to make sure it didn't get rubbed off by a mop or the like. I sprayed the clear coat on a gloved hand and poured just a bit on the area and spread it out with a foam brush. This helped protect it and I could control the shine by removing as much as I wanted while leaving enough protectant behind to be sure it stayed in good shape. I hope you found this helpful! ... show more
