The written instruction mostly pertains to other models that have different features. If you have experience with handheld calculators, you can mostly figure out the functions of keys on this product. It has a 2-line display, with the top line showing the input calculations. It is both battery and photo-cell-powered.

I was having problems with my current calculator not registering the number when I pressed the button. It was frustrating having to put so much effort into getting the buttons to work. I got this calculator as a replacement. I have had no such problems with this one. The buttons are easy to press and large enough that I rarely miss my mark. Of course, bigger buttons mean a bulkier calculator on my already cluttered desktop, but at least I'm getting better results with this one. It works not only with 1 AAA battery, but solar power as well. This means it can also be charged by indoor lighting. Of course, mine sits in a dark room when not in use, so I'm always in need of battery power. So I thought it was a great idea that the battery compartment was designed to store an extra battery. My only complaint is the manual provides minimal instruction on using the calculator. Although simple to use overall, it has a tax key function that I never could figure out how to use. Based on my understanding of the instructions, I should be able to store a tax rate that could be recalled when needed. This would come in handy for calculations that I tend to do on a regular basis. Unfortunately, I was never able to figure out from the instructions how to store the rate. But since I didn't order this calculator based on that function, I am satisfied with its overall performance.
