  • Cheap Construction for Expensive Price
Water and ice dispenses slowly and the ice melts/freezes into a block because of the poor seal between the dispenser and ice. The produce drawer doesn't close properly due because it wasn't built to narrow enough tolerances. There are a handful of these minor issues that I'd expect to see in a fridge that is half the cost of this one. It does look great, but I'm concerned about how long it will actually last since things have started breaking 2 years in. ... show more

  • A Christmas gift that fits and won’t be hidden lol
Our son loves it, it’s a perfect fit Christmas gift, how often can you say that? We can woohoo!! We don’t usually spend this much on Christmas gifts but his fridge went out and he’s always been a big help to us whenever we need him. He has even taken his vacation time to help his father on getting our house ready to sell. He loves the look and the interior space of the fridge. It’s a gorgeous interior with the back lighting and grey sides with glass shelves you have a better view of what you have. The beeping when the door is left open is wonderful at keeping from accidentally leaving it open just a smidgen when going to bed. The middle drawer works perfectly for drinks and keeping the main refrigerator closed when running back and forth with friends getting an ice cold brew out of the drawer. With a different temperature setting it’s the perfect almost ice level when the sun is hot as a desert 🏜 and a cold one is needed!! The freezer is on the smaller side but with special drawers and door cubbies it well organized. He loves it and we have one ourselves (where do you think he saw it first). It arrived exactly when it said which was a remarkable 2 weeks from day ordered while most people we know were in a waiting hell (2+months some as long as 6 months) the black cafe refrigerator is absolutely gorgeous and unless you have white appliances the black one goes with stainless steel (and the many other silver to black colors out there) or black it pretty much goes with all the metals, silvers and blacks out there. It’s a gorgeous well rounded fridge. I recommend. The one con for some would be those who need a lot of ice you might need a separate ice maker it makes enough for us but not enough to fill a cooler or to supply a party that needs a lot of ice for drinks. ... show more

  • "Requires" genuine water filter cartridges.
Absolute scam they've got going where the water dispenser and ice maker shut off if you use 3rd party water filters. Luckily you can just transfer the RFID chip between filters to save $80 per year. But this is seriously off putting and I'd have bought a different brand had I known this upfront.

  • This will cost you more than money...
In October of 2022 I purchased an entire kitchen line from this manufacturer. It is currently 04/29/2023 and I continue to wait on delivery of 2 of their CONTRACTED 4 (stove C2S900P3MD1, microwave CVM517P3RD1, dishwasher CDT845P3ND1 and refrigerator CXE22DP4PW2 ) items. Of the 2 delivered (oven and microwave) only ONE (microwave) is functioning properly. The local vendor has attempted to deliver the dishwasher now twice but upon unboxing has been found to be damaged. To be clear these are not just showing up with a slight cosmetic defect. We're talking catastrophic damage to the door panels to the point where the doors are caved in and not even able to be opened (which also means the appliance chassis itself is likely also damaged). It's not even about the door's appearance (which could easily be replaced) it's about the type of impact it would take to cause the damage inflicted. To put it clearly the delivery team stated "it looks like someone backed into it with a truck" ...literally. And I would have to agree. It takes a fair amount of energy to crease metal and whatever caused it transferred that energy (enough to fold the metal from edge to edge across the front of the entire door leaving a dent approximately 2-3cm at its deepest point and spanning the entire width of the door and approximately 50% of its surface area) directly to an appliance which was likely not engineered with tolerances to sustain direct impact of that magnitude vehicular or otherwise. I'm pretty sure that is NOT a part of the design parameters. Point being that if it's THAT damaged outside, there's no knowing what happened to the internals. Likely I would not know until the thing failed while in use or maybe flooded my entire house while running a cycle in my absence. NO THANK YOU CAFE! Now the troubling part about this is that the boxes (in both cases now) are arriving completely flawless and the packaging inside has been completely intact with the packing Styrofoam undamaged. This means that some dolt at the factory has utterly failed in their inspection process. Maybe not all the time, but as least badly enough to affect 2 separate deliveries which were months apart. This most definitely is a supplier side issue and I cannot hold this against the vendor. CAFE is responsible for the product until it leaves their warehouse so either some person saw the damage and said "meh" OR someone is asleep behind the wheel. Either way it speaks volumes to the quality of their corporate practices. Sad...really sad. Now onto the oven. The oven has a fan that clicks on once the internal temperature reaches a certain point and when that occurs the fan is making a metal-on-metal sound that like a fan blade hitting metal. Not healthy and again though it does not incapacitate the device it will eventually lead to failure as I'm pretty sure fans are not designed to continue to operate whilst physically obstructed. No I am not an engineer but the distinction of a rhythmic clicking when a fan activates is either way caused by something contacting another something that it is not intended to unless your design is just piss poor and on that I am willing to extend the benefit of doubt. But this remains a failure to deliver on expectation and these are NOT supposed to be entry level appliances, are they?!? So, 0 for 2 CAFE. Now let's talk about the fridge... well I would love to except is haven't seen it yet. It was supposed to be here in December. Then it was supposed to be here in March. Currently its "expected" by May 30 but given this entity's past performance let's just say I'm not holding my proverbial breath. These deadlines are coming from the manufacturer's own website and not from the local vendor and given that I was aware of the 3 month delay when purchasing I was prepared to wait the nearly 3mos. initially and to be safe I had even psychologically prepared myself for DOUBLE that and told myself that I'd be happy if I all was well and I had these things up and running in SIX months...but again disappointed. We are passed that point as of mid-March. So overall this has been an extremely disappointing consumer experience. I purchased the entire suite spending just under FIFTEEN THOUSAND BECAUSE I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and now CAFE it seems would be the exception and NOT to the consumers benefit. I believe this product line to be grossly overpriced and can't help but think that I would have been better off purchasing cheaper products (as they would be more readily available and hence easier to replace). So here we are... six and a half months later. I have a microwave and a countertop air fryer (also purchased but from a retailer) and consequently the dietary intake of my college days except I’m in my fifties. PATHETIC performance CAFE. F-minus. This performance is arguably even worse than that of your "lesser" GE branded models but as a consumer I would never even consider that move as the apple tends not to fall far from the tree. Oh, and before you bother deleting this review or simply censoring it, just know that I will be reposting on several sites that you do NOT control ... gotta love the ol' cut and paste. ... show more

  • Lasted 1 year 10 months
This refrigerator lasted 1 year and 10 months before it lost all its R600A refrigerant and burned up the compressor. Repair parts were not available in a timely manner (meaning more than 60 days) and thus was deemed "not repairable". All food in the refrigerator was a loss. While we had it, we liked it; however it made ice very slowly and dispensed water very slowly. If you plan on seriously using the ice and water in the door features better look to a different refrigerator. The stainless steel was easily damaged and difficult to keep clean. This was just my take on it, your mileage may vary. ... show more
