  • Do NOT purchase these C by GE/Cync by Savant bulbs
We recently purchased C by GE lights for our bedroom, only a few weeks to the app being replaced with the new Cync app, by GE/Savant. The new Cync app has rendered our bulbs practically useless. Initially, the bulbs worked great for us and we were thrilled with them, so we placed an order for additional bulbs for other bedrooms and throughout our living room. This was an unplanned expense, but we had scheduled a trip away and the option to be able to turn our lights on and off while across the country was worth it to us. Our home is in a neighborhood close to a downtown with the occasional vandalism or larceny, so being able to turn our lights on and off while away seemed like a great additional deterrent to any suspicious activity at our home. Additionally, we had a few folks coming into our home while we were away, and the C by GE lights and app allowed us to turn the lights on for them before they arrived. The lights worked so well, with such simplicity in the app, I even suggested them to my aging parents, who I felt could use them with ease. Big mistake. Then, the app was replaced with Cync, and there hasn’t been one day that these lights haven’t been a problem for us. They are disconnected from WiFi, for no apparent reason, more each day than they are connected. Want to turn your lights on or off while away from home? Good luck, that’s not happening, because these lights are NOT working even if you’re at home. The wifi has never been the issue. Yet, diligently, I have repeatedly reset the internet, reset my phone, reset the app, removed and re-downloaded the app, factory reset the bulbs, etc etc more times than I can count and these bulbs, with their inefficient new app, still DO NOT WORK. The “help” suggestions on GE’s websites are worthless, now, just like the many bulbs I recently purchased. My advice to those looking to get smart bulbs or other smart home products: Check out the Cync app reviews, believe them, and do NOT purchase these C by GE products until GE/Savant can get their mess of hardware+Cync app+firmware nonsense straight. The app developers are struggling to keep up with the endless furious reviews from customers that are being blamed for what’s clearly a developer-end issue. Seriously, GE, whatever racket you’re trying to pull with attempting to push everyone into your integrated “smart home” option with Amazon and Google, only to render the product useless for so many customers is infuriating. My review and comments are going up wherever I purchased these bulbs, as well, because, man, I’m angry with you rendering costly, perfectly good smart bulbs completely useless immediately after I upgraded my regular bulbs and recommended them to my poor, unsuspecting parents and friends. ... show more

  • Terrible and outdated firmware. DOES NOT WORK
Regardless what the say, These will NOT work with google home. I have nothing but trouble with them not working. I have generics over a year and never had a problem with them. I am ditching the non working GE crap. Old outdated firmware.... bought 4 packs of these and nothing but problems with google assistant. Trashing them and buying another brand.. even now their app can not connect to my lights to update firmware. Pathetic I should of sent these back for a refund. They are CRAP, the generic ones I bought are better. STAY AWAY FROM THESE. ... show more

  • Simple Outside Porchlight
I just needed a bulb to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. The wiring is pulled from an outlet (no switch) so I figured a wifi bulb would be best. I used to have a Belkin Wemo system, but after moving a few times (and struggling with receivers) I decided to look for a bulb that could work on its own. This GE version works perfectly, app is simple, scheduling is simple, and bright enough to illuminate the driveway. Obviously its not a flood lamp, so don't expect it to be too exciting. Also chose GE since its a name brand based in the US and I can bother tech support/get refund if needed. All around happy with the purchase. ****Update 2/7/2021**** Ok the GE app is weak but syncing it with Google Home means I can avoid using. Would recommend doing the same (can turn on/off, set up routines in google home app) ... show more

  • They randomly dosconnect
These were fun while they lasted. Everything was a breeze to set up initially and worked smoothly for about two months, but then a couple of the lights randomly disconnected from my Google home. So then I just started to use to app to control the lights, and now even that has stopped working. I bought six bulbs and they all still turn on, but now one of them isn’t even readable. In an effort to fix it, I removed the light from my home app and went to re-add it, and I’m standing right in front of it and the app says it can’t locate any new device. I would suggest never “updating” when it prompts you to do so because I’m guessing those have something to do with it. Everything was working fine until I started updating. ... show more

  • Work great with remote
Update: GE has updated their app! As of May(ish?) 2021 it's now called "Cync". I haven't used it too much yet, but I did set it all up and played with it some to check everything. I was able to work everything ok. And I'm now able to add my lights to my Google Home- finally! From my test run it all worked great, Google Home included. The app has really bad reviews tho, so I'm not sure if I just got lucky. I'll still continue using with my remote, since I just have the one lamp (with 3 GE bulbs) so I still feel like that's usually easier than asking Google. Original review: I paired these bulbs with the GE remote so that I didn't have to go through the whole process of unlocking my phone, pulling up an app, and then finding the place in the app to adjust the bulbs- all just to dim/brighten/turn on/off the light. These two together work fantastic for me. No noise at all from the bulbs, and they dim/brighten perfectly with a plethora of settings between the brightest and lowest lighting. I saw a ton of complaints about the app, and had some kinks installing multiple bulbs but thankfully the app got it sorted out quickly. I've been using these for about a month now so after getting past the install part, using these with the remote has been perfect. ... show more

  • You need a hub. Will not work with aleax without it
Using with alexa and but it was hell trying to set it up. There is a lag between the alexa skill and the app so it may not look like it's been detected. I recommend waiting a little bit after adding all the lights you have than install the skill. Also will not work with alexa alone. You need a hub. I ended up buying a wall plug that was also a hub. I included it in the photos so you know what it looks like. Very disappointed in that. ... show more
