Since 2020 I began to migrate more and more to working from home, and being a professional executive I had the position and ability to do so. I finally decided to invest in a whole new home office, and despite my wife’s proclivity for IKEA I dismissed it for Bush, and am I ever glad I did! The quality of this furniture is so superior to the blue-and-yellow; the panels are all are very thick and heavy, and unlike IKEA there were zero manufacturing defects I had to jerry rig to put it together, despite the number of pieces I ordered all at once (full L desk, hutch and a lateral filing cabinet). The only “glitch” was actually a packing error: on the lateral file the package contained two lefts sides and no right side. They were even labeled correctly, so someone didn’t pay attention and added two “C” panels and no “B.” One quick call to Bush’s tollfree number and the super-friendly agent took care of it and had a brand new “B” on the way, which arrived much earlier than his estimate. Other than that small item, everything was in great shape and went together smoothly. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and there was no confusion or issue identifying parts. One step I skipped was the hutch came with a panel to fill in the gap between it and the desk, and as you can see, I skipped that entirely. I prefer the more open feel it has this way, and as part of my office upgrade I painted the entire room too and love the color, so would rather see it in that spot. Probably the only other thing I can come up with that isn’t gushing praise would be that I wish Bush would review the packing foam they use. I guess it works well since nothing was damaged, but it’s that lightweight foam that breaks apart easily and is very staticky, so it leaves little bits everywhere that you had to wipe off every piece and vacuum like crazy afterwards. ... show more

This piece is made exceptionally well. I say this because I've purchased other pieces for my studio and I am disappointed with how the drawers open and close. THIS LATERAL FILE has sliders for the drawers, which come out and close easily. What a difference from the less expensive furniture. I received this cabinet and it came in good condition (sometimes online orders get jostled in delivery). This was good. It looks awesome. My only complaint is that several pages of the instructions were missing. Overall, good value. It works perfectly in my home office.

    • Beautiful Addition to the Bush Desk

I purchased this to help increase my desk storage and also desk length. I was looking for a sit to stand desk and it was shorter than my previous desk with less storage, so this has helped accomplish both of the items I was looking for. It is a beautiful color (chose light gray), the hardware is solid and nice looking, and it is the same height as the desk. The quality is that of my previous Bush desk which has lasted 8 years of fully remote work, and has survived two moves, and 3 instances of being taken apart and rebuilt. Assembly time was about 40 minutes. Drawers came a small bit of struggle but glide smoothly and are even. The bottom rod helps make it sturdy and able to accommodate many papers and files. It has turned out just perfect. It took me 3 hours to assemble by myself. Read the other reviews for tips on assembly. Follow each step of the directions before moving on to the next step. Give yourself a lot of space to build it. When the time comes to put the drawers in, yes, you will push HARD, but carefully. Remember the button you pushed to undo the drawer slides - you are pushing that back into place, and then still pushing harder. I used a powered screwdriver for most of the screws, except for the cams and the drawer support. I did not put the legs on, and instead used felt pads on the bottom because it's going onto a hard floor and I wanted no scratching. When you put the bottom on, remember to put the finished side towards the unit.....I had to re-do mine!!!! The pre-drilled holes do line up, so find and follow them. The hardware is all in separate bags with the part number printed on the bag. Be sure to follow those. The file extrusions (i.e. files rails) are really hard to put on. For the long ones, I used a tiny flathead screwdriver as a wedge and tapped the top with a mallet. I started at one end and worked my way down. The shorter ones fit into my microwave, and 25 seconds was good to warm them enough so I could fit them into place. I thought the instructions were adequate. They are not stellar, but they're fine. They included 2 file bars and I wish they'd included 4. I need two file bars per drawer to have my files go from to back, and not sideways. ... show more

If the drawer locking capability worked like it is supposed to. this cabinet would be totally fine. The drawers are a nice big size, with both legal and regular size file folders. It looks nice in my office. I followed the instructions minutely when I set it up, including those that dealt with the protective locking mechanism. At first it seemed to work okay, but over the several months that I've had it, the bottom drawer has started opening up randomly, as though a Filing Cabinet Poltergeist was messing with me. Twice when I've been getting files from the top drawer, the bottom drawer slid silently open and the whole heavy cabinet fell onto me. I got pinched fingers and bruised shins, and items I'd on top of the cabinet (printer, some papers) fell off. Sadly, I think it's just not well designed, and unfortunately the part that's badly designed is kind of critical for the health and wellbeing of my limbs. And also my printer. Would not recommend, not even for somebody I didn't like very much. ... show more
