  • I'm really liking this wheel set
Size: One Size
I like these wheels a lot! They look better with my fat tire ebike and they seem to track well although the stock road wheels track just fine. I haven't noticed much of a difference between the two in terms of tracking but I use it on country roads strictly pretty much. It does seem to feel a bit softer on my rides when hitting holes and bumps. I haven't had any issues whatsoever with wobble like some have mentioned here and they seem to fit just as tight as the road wheels did. These wheels are expensive! Too expensive for what they are and they should come stock from Burley quite frankly without customers having to pay a small fortune to get them extra. They've already paid a premium for the trailer itself. Come on Burley! Don't be greedy like that! I can see where these wheels might do better on top of snow compared to the road wheels and they may hold up better in an off road environment but they should track the same off road as the road tires would. It's being pulled behind your bike and is gonna go where you go regardless of the wheel set although it would ride over branches and rocks a bit softer I'd imagine. If you buy these wheels, you won't like the looks of the road tires anymore so I suspect they'll be stored long term in case you need them as an emergency backup. Other than that the stock road wheels will be in your rear view mirror of bike parts forever. Anyway, if money isn't an issue and you have a fat bike and an Burley trailer model thats compatible then you may want these wheels because they look so much better than stock. If you're on a tight budget then be satisfied with your stock road wheels because they work just fine. This was a special treat type of purchase for me, otherwise I wouldn't have spent the cash because again they're too expensive just like everything else but I'm glad I have them. All the best with whichever you choose! ... show more

  • Lower's your clearance and wobbly.
Size: One Size
The fat tire wheelset (16x3.0) has a diameter about 2 inches less than the standard wheelset (20x1.75) that came with my trailer. That lowers the clearance of the trailer about 1". The fat wheelset wobbles more than I'd like. The tires look fully seated in the rims so I'm guessing the rims aren't true. I haven't had a chance to verify that. I haven't had a chance to test them in the snow yet. I'll update my review when I do. ... show more

  • Pricey, But Work Really Well on Snow and on Dirt/Sandy/Muddy Trails
Size: One Size
Unlike other reviews, I fortunately have not experienced any problems with this wheelset and have been really satisfied with their performance. I’ve been using them on a Burley Minnow trailer for a few weeks now to take my 5-year old on winter trail rides and for trips around town in the snow, including on icy pavement, and I haven’t had any issues with the wheels wobbling or any other problems. My son says they help make the ride on bumpy roads and trails feel less, well, bumpy - a big plus on those days when I like to do a longer ride and get in more mileage. The tires also make the trailer stable at speed but there is a slight noticeable increase in weight and a small decrease in rolling speed from these tires compared to the narrower and lighter tires that came stock on the trailer, which is what I expected. I have a fat bike with 27.5 x 4” tires, so pulling the trailer and my son using these wheels isn’t usually difficult as long as the snow is on the firmer side. Snow-wise, these wheels work best on trails where the snow is already groomed or just somewhat packed and not too slushy, loose, or deep, and, adjusting the tire pressure according to the conditions is important if you’re new to biking on snow with wide tires. On pavement with ice and fresh snow (less than 5 inches) these wheels work well too. I haven’t tried the wheels on dirt or sandy trails yet, but I expect they’ll work just fine if not better than on snow. The only con so far is that they’re pricy, and time will tell on the durability front, but, so far these wheels seem well built, and, it’s been worth the expense being able to be outdoors more with my little one and have some memorable family adventures. Update 2/22/2020: I’ve now also used this wheelset on sandy, dirt, and muddy trails, and they’ve performed great. Because goat head thorns are very common in my area on dirt trails, I’ve added Slime to both tubes in each wheel to help with reducing flat tires. After about 250 miles total on the wheelset, no durability issues or any problems. ... show more

  • Must Have for Beach Sand
Size: One Size
NOTE: This is a review of the 16+ wheels mounted on a Burley Nomad Cargo Trailer. I absolutely love these larger sized wheels since I primarily use the trailer to move photography equipment across beach sane. I read the comments about how much the wheel wobble, but I do not notice this at all. I did compare how much the wheels (original vs 16+) moved. The original have 1/2" of play vs the 16+ have just a 1/4" of additional play. This could be because the 16+ wheels are almost 2" taller (original 15 5/8", 16+ 17 3/8"). In addition, the 16+ wheels are twice as wide as the original. These larger wheels make moving equipment across the sand considerably easier. In addition, the added height prevents the undercarriage from dragging along the sand when I pull it, by hand, through the sand. These wheels and cargo trailer will live a tough life with constant exposer to sand, salt, humidity, moisture and carrying heavy photography equipment. The only thing that I questioned is that anything you place inside of the cargo hold is held by the fabric/canvass material. There is only one aluminum bar going across. I suspect the first thing to go will be the floor from constant weight. If this occurs, I'll reach out to Nomad to see if they'll sell me the canvass as opposed to replacing the entire trailer. I am very disappointed that there is no option to order the cargo trailer with these wheels. I now have a set of wheels that I believe I will never use. ... show more
