  • A must have if you are crazy for watches
Color: White
If you are crazy for watches as me, this is an exceptional timepiece that combines historical significance with modern precision. Its high‑performance quartz movement (262 kHz) delivers outstanding accuracy, and the sapphire crystal provides excellent scratch resistance. The 45mm stainless‑steel case and black dial give it a bold, professional look, while the luminous hands and markers ensure great visibility in low light. The chronograph functions are smooth and reliable, and the watch feels solid and well‑crafted on the wrist. ... show more

  • Great quality, value and performance
Color: White
I am very pleased with my purchase. This is my fourth Bulova watch using the ultra-high frequency quartz movement used in their Precisionist line. This model is better constructed than any of the other Bulovas that I have had. The quality of the case and band are excellent. Some have complained that the band and case have slightly different finishes (case is stain, band is slightly brushed) but I really could not tell much of a difference. The band is comfortable and drapes nicely around the wrist. It has a butterfly closure that I prefer bu ist hard to find in "sports" watches that normally use a tri-fold closure with a clasp. With the butterfly closure, there is no outer clasp to become scratched. The watch is listed at 45 mm diameter, which is accurate. However, it has a slightly stepped construction in that the diameter of the face of watch is about 41 mm. Therefore, this watch wears smaller than 45 mm. Because of this, I think it is better proportioned than many large chronographs. The best thing about this watch and the reason it was chosen by one astronaut as a backup watch is the legibility of the dial. (FYI: the Omega Speedmaster was the original NASA purchased watch but the Bulova was used as the backup watch by at least one astronaut on the moon mission. In that case, his Omega stopped working and the Bulova had to be used). Being able to see the time at a glance is excellent due to the design of the hands, the dial, and the fact that the sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating. You should be aware that the center sweep seconds hand is for chronograph seconds and will move only when activated by the top pusher. Continuous seconds is shown in the lower subdial where the hand will tick 2 times per second. Subdial on the right is for 1/10 seconds, and the subdial on the left is for lapsed minutes up to 60 minutes. The subdials could have been slightly larger and the 60 minute counter should have been reduced to 30 minutes as on many chronographs. The shape of the pushers are unique to this model and have been widely praised. I like them myself and they work great. In case you are wondering about the battery life due to the higher energy consumption of the movement, it far exceeds Bulova's estimate of 2 years. My oldest Bulova Precisionist is more than 3 years old and I have never had to replace the battery even with a continuous sweeping center second hand going continuously for 3 1/2 years. This battery life seems common based on the discussion on many watch forums. I think that this purchase is money well spent. ... show more

  • Finely Crafted Time Piece Finely Crafted Time Piece
Color: White
This historical, finely crafted and bold time piece is a must have for a watch collection. The large face and solid weight let you know you're wearing a quality time piece. I suggest purchasing one if you're contemplating a possible acquisition.

  • The moon watch that almost nailed it.
Color: White
There is so much to love about the Lunar Pilot. The dial is gorgeous, the history is amazing, and it has incredible wrist presence. It’s a big, heavy watch, but it still manages to wear comfortably on the wrist. My main issues are with the hardware. If you have a larger wrist, getting a proper fit on the bracelet is going to be a struggle. I really wish they used a standard clasp instead of a butterfly clasp. Additionally, the lume fades way too fast after an initial bright burst. It’s a beautiful piece, but it fell just a bit short for me. At the end of the day it's still a keeper for me, I just had to pair it with a sailcloth strap. ... show more

  • Stunning watch with great provenance!
Color: White
Stunning watch with a really neat bit of history. It's quite large compared to most of my other watches, but it wears relatively small for its size. My wrist is just a hair under 7" and I'd say I'm right at the cusp of it fitting. If you have a smaller wrist, I'd recommend going with the 43mm version. It's an incredible watch with a good bit of heft and looks much nicer than the price suggests. Probably my favorite watch in my collection! ... show more

  • Quality exceeds price; faithful hommage with improvements.
Color: White
Bulova Men's Lunar Pilot Chronograph Watch 96B258 This watch is a fine hommage to the 'original'. In fact it's probably better/more refined in many ways. I'm pleased with the 318L stainless case (and, I presume, band) and the sapphire crystal. Many midprice chronos don't have these features. The dial is not overwrought "boy-tech-racer' like so many in the sub-$500 range [avg retail vs "MSRP"]. Lots of run of the mill Japanese chronos are made with softer steel for quicker machine tooling time. I was surprised & pleased at the stainless band/bracelet quality - esp given "Band made in China". Solld lniks, not stamped/pressed sheetmetal like many Seikos, etc. [Another version has a fabric/carbon fiber band - but that model cannot accept a factory metal band due to pin position difference, I've learned.] And while the photo of the witch shows something a la a mix of "Jubilee"/"bullet"-style stainless bracelet design, that's the result of the photo's depth effect: Up close it really looks more like a "Sub" band with "slightly less tall" link, and is straight-sided throughout its extent (i,e.,, not contoured wider when nearing bottom of watch case). Fit & finish is top notch. The actual finish of the case & band are a dull nonreflective effect - ultralight bead blasted (as distinguished from "crusty" heavy bead blasting). Appears the 50m water resistance is a static value derived from pressure chamber (and not necessarily reality). So I'd not at all dive with this, or even swim with this, but it'll stand a rainstorm and a shower and maybe some hottubbing. I'd like to see a screw-down crown but I'll take what I can get. Any perceived 'negatives' or peculiarities are generally because of the duplication of the original "moon watch". TBD: just got it, haven't checked the lume in darkness. Also, a bit too loose on my (large) wrists so going to corner jeweler for band adjustment tomorrow. I'd LOVE to see a variant of this watch..... - same new 262kHz quartz movement - same face/overall design; - same overall case size/formfactor; - wider, tapered "sub" style band - regular Rolex-style clasp - sapphire crystal is edge-protected with a bezel ring - slightly recessed screw-down crown; - magnetic chrono pusher switches to maintain seal, or screw-down pushers - a useful swimming/diving water resistance. ... show more

  • Outstanding...
Color: White
Foremost, I have been a fan of space exploration for years before the first moon landing and watched that event live on television. I am an avowed Swiss automatic movement watch owner, whether these are high-end well known brand names or micro brands. Regardless, they are all Swiss made. I also have a few high end Seiko automatics as well. So, this is my first venture into a quartz powered watch. This watch is outstanding. The fit and finish of the case and bracelet is flawless. One selling point for me was the high frequency quartz movement that allows a sweep second had in stop watch mode (although in this watch, the running seconds hand is in half second increments). The face is beautiful with its sandwich style, sun burst sub dials appearance and is extremely easy to read. It is large at 45mm but I have a 7 5/8 inch wrist, so the size isn’t a problem for me and actually appears to wear smaller than its 45mm size. I had contemplated getting the O…. Speedmaster Pro but was never quite sold on it. When I saw the announcement for this watch and realized that a similar Bulova (although with automatic movement) had been worn by Cmdr Scott on the Apollo 15 Moon mission, its historic significance was cemented and I was convinced to get this watch (and an even easier decision at 1/10 the cost of the O…. Speedmaster). The only concern I have (although yet unrealized) is the high domed sapphire crystal with its exposed, unprotected edge. Even though I’m careful when wearing a watch, nicks could occur by hitting a door edge, etc. Otherwise, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase! ... show more
