[+] THE OTHER HALF OF THE STORY This is a great product, but it only tells half the story. People take this product to boost mental and physical performance. I'm only focused on the mental performance, and this is why everyone is telling you half the story about that. The boost to mental performance revolves around boosting the ActylCholine neurotransmitter. The neurotransmitter is made up of two molecules: ActylCholine neurotransmitter = Actyl group + Choline group. This product, Acetyl L-Carnitine is made up of an Acetyl group bonded to the L-Carnitine amino acid. When digested, the two components detach thus freeing up the Actyl group to bond to a Choline group and also freeing up the L-Carnitine amino acid to be metabolized. The L-Carnitine amino acid is what boosts physical performance. The Actyl group is what I am most interested in for mental performance. Remember what I said about the Actyl group bonding to a Choline group? But what if there is no Choline group to bond with? Well, then you don't magically get the ActylCholine neurotranmitter with just the Actyl group alone. There needs to be Choline and you might not be getting enough Choline from dietary intake alone. That's why, for increased mental performance, it is just as important to take a Choline supplement to make sure there is the second half of that equation available to manufacture the neurotransmitter. And, that's the other half of the story everyone else is missing. If you learned something from this, then throw me a helpful vote. [+] THE REVIEW This product has saved my life and my pocket book. I use this product in combination with Bulksupplements Choline L-Bitartrate Powder (250 grams) in a 2:1 ratio respectively. This combination works very effectively at maintaining mental acuity over longer periods of time. At first I used NOW Alpha GPC 300 mg,60 Veg Capsules, but popping those every day became very expensive. So, I searched for a cheaper alternative. Fortunately, I found this combination, which works as well if not better. This product, along with the Choline supplement, has given me my mind back (i'm in my 50's). The Acetyl group is needed to combine with choline to make Acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. I take about 1/2 teaspoon daily (with 1/4 teaspoon Choline) to keep my mind sharp. If your just starting this product, I recommend taking less to start out with. Maybe take 1/4 teaspoon every other day and increase from there. The reason is because when your body can produce more neurotransmitters, it does so everywhere, not just in your mind. Neurotransmitters are also used to control your gut, muscles, etc. Taking too much too fast could result in gitters or an active GI. If that happens, just stop taking until symptoms go away and then start up again. The symptoms are not telling you something bad is happening; it is telling you something good is happening. Don't take my word for it. There are books written about this subject by people who have much more knowledge than I do. Don't let your mind wilt away with age. ps. I read about this supplement in Dr. Nicholas Perricone's books, and decided to try it myself. It is good for the brain and the skin, according to his books, so it sounds like a win-win to me. This is for the long-term and the benefits will become more apparent over time, but I did notice more pep immediately with this one. I went with Bulk Supplements because as usual, it's a pure product without filler crap I don't need in it, I can control the dosage, and a little goes a long way because of the purity. I find this to be an energizing supplement so I follow the advice to only use it before 3pm, and in fact I take it upon rising so this isn't an issue. I also take DLPA and Now True Focus in the mornings, and this stacks onto their effects of added alertness and focus. I have always been good at paying attention to detail and being able to stick with boring, thankless tasks, and these supplements definitely help with that plus they help me to remain calmer and feel less stressed throughout the day. If I go more than a few days without them, I notice the difference, and now I make sure I never run out. Bulk Supplements sometimes offers free trials, but I paid for this one. Making up my own capsules from bulk powder is a good economic value for me, and allows me to afford the growing list of supplements I take. I figure this way is cheap insurance against degenerative disease and general decrepitude, and I am grateful that there are companies out there like BulkSupplements providing good quality raw materials I need to improve my health. ... show more

Hands down one of the best deals you can find. High quality product delivered quickly and exactly as shown. Love it! I had previously been buying the ALC capsules from a local chain store because I was looking for something that could potentially give my brain a bit of a boost. Truth be told, I had spent too many years overly-interested in the bottle and it was having a noticeable effect on my cognitive function. While I've never had a great memory, the last couple of years it seemed to be taking me an extended amount of time to remember and recall information. I felt foggy too often... and despite being a fairly intelligent person, I was feeling a tad "ditzy" at times. I did a little bit of research and became interested in ALC. It had two essential benefits that I found appealing: it can help rejuvenate the brain AND (to a lesser, secondary extent) can potentially help convert fat into energy. Although I've always been a slim person, I regularly go to the gym to maintain and improve my overall health and build lean muscle. A supplement that can aid in helping both my head and body? Yes, please! I started taking 500mg in the AM everyday. I noticed that if I took twice that in one sitting, it made me feel really aloof. So a lesser dosage was fine enough for me. Within a couple of weeks, it felt like the cloudy fog had just floated away. I was no longer beating myself up for forgetting things on a regular basis and I felt more "on the ball." My wit returned and concentration seemed to be easier. Unfortunately, as far working out, I can't honestly say that I've noticed any huge results that I can directly attribute to ALC...but what I CAN say is that working out feels better. Whether that is mental or physical (perhaps both!), I am happy with it! People interested more in the workout-aid aspect may have better results with L-Carnitine instead (Acetyl L-Carnitine is basically just a processed version of L-Carnitine that can easily pass the blood-brain barrier). In addition as of late, I have also been taking Green Tea extract, thiamine (B-1) and fish oil along with my regular multi and I feel the best I have in many years. I feel like my regular self again. My head is finally back on straight! It's worth a shot! BULKSUPPLEMENTS is the only place I'll buy my products from now on if I can help it. Fantastic products and values! Thank you! ... show more
