My kids love to build things. I got this for my son’s 10th bday. He loved building it. The instructions were just right. After building it, he’s been driving it all over. Up ramps and over things. I’m surprised because just regular remote control cars don’t do as well. Every once in a while he does have to adjust the gears, but he just loves it. Hours of fun.

Our house building expert dug into this set with great gusto - because come on - it looks awesome. The build as I said is very ambitious and nuanced. Unfortunately it’s not so easy to assemble, due to some unclear instructions. We are pretty good with these sorts of things, my son especially. He even said the instructions were not very good and lacked the “put this here” clarity to which he is accustomed. The parts this comes with are good for secondary projects and that is what your young building expert will enjoy about this set. No missing parts, it’s all there, it’s just a little unclear on how to get it all together.

This is a well-designed building kit with some challenging control schemes. There's much to learn to use all the controls, but all three models can be built and run with one or two control means. It might be a good idea to let your child play with this for a week or two, then put it a way for 6 months or so. Of course, it's not compatable with the big brand of building bricks. If you know a child interested in robotics, programming, or remote control this would make a solid gift. I think a child who is ready can learn a lot from this and still have another learning experience in a year.
