Thought I'd write some words about this, since I was a little unsure, but wanted to try a few things out for my backpack. I just got them, so this is mostly a material and design perspective, rather than a proper evaluation after hard use. Overall, for the price, it's decent. Good enough, but not great. Overall, the plastic used is a nice, hard, durable plastic. A on the plastic material (baring extensive abuse tests, since I just got them). The big D clips don't align so you can't just squeeze them shut; you have to lift the D loop over the latch, since the slope on the latch isn't low enough to push it down.. the loop hits the flat below the angle. Pretty sloppy alignment of parts, so that anyone trying to close it would realize it's not right. I'd give these a D. They work, but man is it bad. The rotating D ring things seem pretty good, a bit thin at the hinge and pretty loose tolerance, but without taking out and trying to break it, it seems decent. They snap to 45 degree rotations, which works well. It seems like a good plastic, but this is one of the few areas where it really has to be top notch because it's the load and shock point, and I don't think it's enough. Probably a B or C grade. Feels like a B, but my gut tells me the hinge is a bit weak for much load or shock, so C. The elastic parts all seem pretty good, the hooks and loops, elastic isn't lose or weak. I'd give these an A. Strap clips (for lack of a better term?) that hinge closed to sort of stick two molle strap bags together without other slides or something seem pretty good. A bit loose on the hinge from the wide tolerance, but this time the clip portion lines up well, you can just squeeze them shut, and the release works well. But, not quite as satisfying when you actually have nylon straps in them; they feel mushy and hard to tell if it latched, so B. The A rings on a small velcro loop: The clip snaps good and the plastic is rigid, but this has got to be the worst velcro I've ever seen. I didn't even know velcro could be this bad without being clogged full of dog hair or mud or something. Fortunately, the way they work the velcro isn't load bearing.. so it would probably be okay. But holy cow. Not an F, just because it is still functional, but I can't imagine how anyone is proud of this. So, I'll give it a D. Overall, a third are nice, a third are acceptable to decent, and a third are trash. For $20? Probably get your money's worth unless you were really counting on the big D clips that you have to use two hands to wiggle closed being easy to use. ... show more
