  • Very nice printer, copier, & scanning. It handles 11x17 paper also!
Style: Old Model
It is a great printer, so far, but have only had it about a month. Very easy to setup, no issues, very fast printing, copying, scanning. I like it well!

  • Good printer for 11 x 17 printing, scanning and copying.
Style: Old Model
This is a good printer for the price that prints, copy's, scans and faxes sheets up to 11" x 17". I use it for Cad drawings and the print quality is good in both black and color. It prints pretty fast. It was easy to install on my wireless network and the app is easy to use.

  • Great printer
Style: Old Model
After using several HP printers, I switched to Brother and don't regret it. My HP printers were slower at printing than this one. They always seemed to have issues with software that delayed transferring documents to the printer. This Brother printer prints immediately. My HP tank printer was always pausing to clean its print heads for no good reason. It used a lot of ink during cleaning, taking a half minute or more, while the Brother does a quick 1 sec cleaning and then continues printing. Software loaded on my Windows 10 computer without trouble. My Andriod phone's software loaded okay. I do need to change its wifi connection from my internet modem to a direct connection to the printer when I want to print. I was hoping my phone would just connect through my home network like my computer does, but I have not been able to figure out a way to do it. Scanning works well. It uses much less ink than my HP, at least the print cartridges last much, much longer. The initial printer cost is higher but you'll make it up on ink costs. I am very satisfied with the printer's operation. ... show more

  • Very bad printer.
Style: Old Model
I have loved Brother laser printers forever. I thought I’d try this printer because I need to print tabloid size quite a bit. The negatives for this printer are numerous. I’ll only mention a few of the most irritating. FYI I use Mac system and Windows. 1. It does not print color all that well. Faded, and portions not printing at all. I have tried everything their support site says to do. Not much improvement. Have cleaned nozzles and heads 3 times. Same issues 2. It’s always going off line. Have tried new drivers, etc. still drops out and I have to turn off and then turn on. It does not awake when in this mode or awake from sleep mode, either. 3. Clumsy software. This printer is really made for Windows users. Exasperating. 4. Will not copy or send directly from panel to my Mac. Have to use their limited software 5. Even though I have set the main tray to tabloid size on the machine, I have to get up and press the Resume button on the menu since it will not retain the tabloid size selection. This is a terrible machine. Not worth the money. I will try and sell it and purchase an HP Update July 2925: printed a PDF document to this Brother printer and to an Epson Ecotank printer. Both printers are right next to each other. Computer is 15 feet away. Epson printed the document in under 2 minutes. The Brother printer took 20 minutes. I also have another Brother printer and an HP printer that are in different rooms. No problems or lengthy print times. In addition, color print quality is not good. Have tried everything to improve but no luck. This is a junk printer. Do not buy. My mistake was in not returning it for a refund. ... show more

  • A lot of bang for your buck.
Style: Old Model
The media could not be loaded. This printer is a work horse. It brings a lot of value for the money. I received this printer just over on month ago and it is running great. Many people ask about ink longevity. I will say this desktop inkjet has more ink in the starter packs then I've see in any previous desktop inkjet. I've not use the other competitors high capacity inkjets, so I cannot tell you how this compares to those. However, I can give real numbers. At the time I replaced the first starter tank (black) I had 3,010 prints through the machine. 2,871 were b&w. Most of these had an average of about 10% ink coverage. A lot of space was left for notes on the prints. I was not expecting the starter black tank to last that long. Currently at just past a month of use, the machine has 5,759 prints through it. 217 of those were color. So I've not yet replaced the color starter tanks. Pros Fairly fast for an inkjet. Even on double sided. I've included a video. The video shows prints in the normal mode, not draft. High modes slows it down a good bit. Prints are dry, don't smudge. Can even handle some water contact. Large print and scan ability. Up to 11" x 17". Great touchscreen. Very responsive. Prints are decent. Not laser quality. Being inkjet your limited in stock options. I've got production laser machines to cover both of those issues. Great web interface to setup presets for scans and retrieve usage data. The usage reports the average ink coverage per color. The machine has an internal sub-tank with it's own level indicated. I've not tried swapping tanks while running, but that is what my production machines can do. I'm hoping for the same here. Estimated ink levels can report the page count based on industry standard ISO coverage or previous usage. The previous usage should be much more accurate. We'll see. Bypass tray works well. Cons Scanner only does single sided. The next model up comes with a scanner that will handle double sided scans. Smaller paper tray. With the ink capacity and speed. I think a larger tray would have been better. Something that would hold a standard ream (500 sheets) would have been good. The next model up has two trays of this capacity. The printer driver has limited paper stock options. I've only used the default driver thus far. I'll got back and look for a better driver to yield more options. Other settings seem to be adequate. Especially for a home printer. I've not had a jam, but an internal jam could be difficult to remove. All in all a great printer for the money. For those who said the prints were washed out, this has not been an issue for me. i do load better stock than most. Though on some shipping labels stock, the ink was a little muted. This was resolved with some adjustments to the print settings and saving those settings as profile for those labels. I would recommend this printer. ... show more

  • Best Home Color Printer
Style: Old Model
This is my third Brother printer, the first color printer. It’s the best home color printer I’ve ever owned. The ink lasts forever. The cartridges are simple to install and easy to track. As a teacher, I often need to print color photos. This printer is fast and photo-quality. My wife was skeptical at first about this model. But after using it herself, she’s a believer. I see this baby as a fine instrument! ... show more
