    • Game changer!
I have had this machine for 3 1/2 years. I know it is difficult to find this model now but I can highly recommend it. The newer machines, based on the videos I have watched, are a bit more tricky to use. This is as basic as it gets. It does not have an automatic blade but who needs one. Unless you cut a huge variety of materials, you seldom need to change the setting and a quick test cut can show you if you have the right depth. I am absolutely amazed with this machine’s capabilities. I am a miniaturist and cut super tiny designs and labels with unbelievable accuracy. I have also cut designs such as stamped butterflies less than 1/2 inch wide, and it has cut the antennae perfectly. Likewise, I have cut rubber stamped dogs and cats and had it cut the whiskers- an incredible achievement. If you prefer, it can add a border to match your specifications. If you need a design cut both inside and outside of a line, it can do that as well. I also don’t need the wi-fi capability. I either put my designs on a thumb drive and transfer them by plugging the thumb drive in the machine or more often, I print or stamp my design and cut it directly. It can even cut designs out of wrapping paper or other commercially printed designs. One of the most valuable capabilities is the way it can scan in a background piece of paper, etc. then you can scan in your design and place it directly on top of the desired background piece. In a design where you want the various pieces to be different colors, this can save an enormous amount of time. The only thing you have to remember is not to leave open space in a design if you want the outline followed. All you have to do, if this is an issue, is to join a broken line with a pencil and erase it after the machine finishes cutting. I also love how you can resize, multiply, or join designs. The only thing I would improve are the mats. They do lose their tackiness very quickly. You can restick them but I have learned to deal with this by either a quick spray of removable spray glue if the design is very detailed or masking tape to hold less complex designs. I honestly see no reason to upgrade to a newer model and would definitely recommend this model as simple to use and maintain. I’ve never had a problem with it in over 3 years. ... show more

    • BUY IT! It's awesome!
It was a tough decision for me to buy this machine since I already have the cricut expression and many other cricut products. I was just fed up with the constant cricut upgrades rendering my products obsolete. I have to say I LOVE THIS MACHINE. Bye Bye cricut. This machine does everything and SO easy to use. I watched a couple of videos before my purchase, so when I received the scan n cut, I took it out of the box and used it immediately. WOOOOHOOOO. I am a card maker and love making my own die cuts. This machine is PERfect for that use. I can scan in anything and cut it out. Seriously people, buy it! You will not be disappointed. I have had this for 4 days and I think I cut more things out with this machine than I did with my cricut in 2 years. The intricate detail in the cuts amazes me. I haven't used the scan n cut canvas site yet, but I will. I plan on using this for other crafts too. Did I say this machine is awesome? Haha. It is.     • Nice machine but strictly a hobby machine.
A nice machine. I design extensively in Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint, and then print the designs. The ScanNCut works well for me because I can scan the printed designs directly and cut them out without any registration problems. There is extensive help for new users on Facebook and YouTube, and I found startup to be extremely understandable and easy. That being said, I do come from a design background and I am aware of people who fear the machine. Although I design all of my own work, I understand that there is an extensive amount of artist created cutting files that can be purchased for this machine by those who are more into making craft projects than their own art. It's fun to use. I would have given it five stars except the cutting mats are kind of a hassle. I really should have bought a professional machine instead of a hobby machine, but I could not resist the low price of this one to get my feet wet into paper and vinly cutting. ... show more

    • Game changing machine for card makers
I must say - this was the biggest game changer for my card making hobby. This machine is amazing and so easy to use. I know it has tons of advanced options that I didn't get to yet. I primarily use it to cut out stamped imaged instead of metal dies. I can now cut out any stamp and image I wish to. I like to stamp whole page of images, color them in and then run through and cut out. The only down fall are mats - too sticky and tear paper on the beginning and then quickly become not sticky at all. I've got this ivory colored painters tape and tape down my card stock with images to the mat. Being ivory/beige tape does not come up on the scan and is not affecting cutting process. ... show more

    • Perfect for cutting stamped images!
We bought this machine solely for cutting out stamped images that we didn't have dies for, and it completely excels at that! Since we own a Silhouette Cameo for paper crafting, we use that for everything else, but using Pixscan to cut out stamps was a real pain. It's DEFINITELY worth getting this machine if cutting stamps is all you want to do. However, you can do so much more with it. Vinyl lettering for walls, car decals, Heat transfer vinyl for t-shirts, canvas, pillows, or so much in paper crafting! The beauty of this is you don't really need a computer to use it since you can do a lot right from the screen. However, connecting to a computer and using the Canvas software gives you so much flexibility! ... show more
