After having back issues, I finally broke down and purchased a (very expensive) Tempurpedic mattress a year ago which started out fairly firm, but softened up quite a bit after about 6 or 7 months. Looking at reviews online for firm mattresses, this Brooklyn Bedding Plank mattress seemed to always be at the top of every list. The price was quite reasonable and so I thought I'd give it a try, and I am so glad that I did. I have had it for one month now, and it is perfect. This is one dang firm mattress! And it feels so good. It might be too firm for some, but for me it is just right. It actually has two firmness levels depending on which side you use. There is firm side and a ultra firm side. The firm side wasn't quite firm enough for me, but the ultra firm side does the trick and my back feels so much better now! I am really very grateful for this mattress!! ... show more

Finally a mattress that’s as stiff as they say it is. I’ve only had it for a short time so I didn’t give it 5 stars but I’m impressed so far as I have lower back issues and need the support. I’ll come back in a year (If I remember) and give an update.

I bought this mattress for my dad, who is 82 w/sciatica and other back & health issues. He loves this bed and says it's helped him! He says it's very comfortable & was worth the money. If you don't have health issues though there's beds on amazon for less than $200 delivered (fine for me).

We are two 82 y/o's with a 150 lb. mattress package left at our garage door. The delivery came about a week ago earlier than expected. We were finally able to get someone to bring it into the dinning room. we made room to open it up and it has been growing over the last 24 hour span. The product description read 13 inches; after 24 hours so far it is 12 inches high. Hopefully it will continue to grown another inch. We bought it because it was advertised as" very firm". Very firm is extremely important as my husband has onset of very severe back pain. will keep you informed as to its appeal with height and firmness. ... show more

I never leave reviews, but after going through mattresses like the princess and the pea, I had to share this one. It’s honestly awesome. It’s actually firm and cooling, which feels impossible to find. My husband loves a firm bed (he could sleep on the floor), and I’m a side sleeper, so we’re usually hard to please. I’ve had this mattress for about 18 months now and it’s sagging a whole lot on both sides, regardless of which side you have on top. I purchased this due to it (supposedly) having 2 different firm sides. Both sides have absolutely no support. Regardless of the fact it states it can be for “larger” people, that is laughable.
