After having back issues, I finally broke down and purchased a (very expensive) Tempurpedic mattress a year ago which started out fairly firm, but softened up quite a bit after about 6 or 7 months. Looking at reviews online for firm mattresses, this Brooklyn Bedding Plank mattress seemed to always be at the top of every list. The price was quite reasonable and so I thought I'd give it a try, and I am so glad that I did. I have had it for one month now, and it is perfect. This is one dang firm mattress! And it feels so good. It might be too firm for some, but for me it is just right. It actually has two firmness levels depending on which side you use. There is firm side and a ultra firm side. The firm side wasn't quite firm enough for me, but the ultra firm side does the trick and my back feels so much better now! I am really very grateful for this mattress!! ... show more

I bought this mattress for my dad, who is 82 w/sciatica and other back & health issues. He loves this bed and says it's helped him! He says it's very comfortable & was worth the money. If you don't have health issues though there's beds on amazon for less than $200 delivered (fine for me).

I not totally satisfied with it . But for the price I can't ask for more the extra firm is not really firm and the firm if kind of sift. I will use for some time and them, I will look for the right one. It us very hard to buy the right one online if you not test personally. But sometimes what you chose in a store is not the same what you get on delivery.Even I didn't notice where the cooling side is. I am not recommend for back pain . I have no idea what to, because return it will be a nightmare . ... show more

I’ve had this mattress for about 18 months now and it’s sagging a whole lot on both sides, regardless of which side you have on top. I purchased this due to it (supposedly) having 2 different firm sides. Both sides have absolutely no support. Regardless of the fact it states it can be for “larger” people, that is laughable.
