"WOW!" I have caught myself saying "wow" to myself at least THREE separate times now since purchasing this headlight last July. Let me explain. 1.) The first "wow" came when the light arrived. After charging the battery per manufacturer's recommendations, I plugged it in and tested it out in my living room - it felt like a car had pulled into my house!! Unbelievably bright for such a small light. Yes, the external battery pack is a bit clunky (I would have preferred it all to be one unit), but now that I see the light output, I can see why it needs a dedicated battery. This thing is BRIGHT!!! I bike to work every day (as well as biking to run errands around town), and cars *consistently* hesitate to pull out in front of me - I think most of them think I am a motorcycle at first glance, due to the surprisingly bright light. For $40, I consider this a great value. Over the past 6 months, I have biked in cold weather (down to the teens in degF), hot weather, pouring rain, driving wind, heavy fog, you name it - this light has handled it all like a champ. I always use the high setting (to be ultra conservative), and I've never had any trouble seeing what's in front of me on the road or feeling like others can see me. Compared to the old "two AA's" puny headlight I used to have, this thing provides WAY more light and makes me feel much safer. I love it. 2.) The second "wow" came when I first emailed customer support. Unfortunately, I was hit by a truck *the day before* this light arrived in the mail (if only I had bought it sooner! Might have helped prevent the accident, who knows). Thus I didn't get around to really using it until 4 months later, after Thanksgiving, once I healed from the wreck. At that time, I saw that a new battery holder had been developed, so I emailed Don asking if there was any way I could get the new one. He emailed me back 17 minutes later confirming that he would ship me a new battery holder that very day - for free! Sure enough, it arrived promptly and was an improvement over the previous version. Wow! 3.) The third "wow" came today, and is what prompted me to finally write this review. I have been using this light daily since Thanksgiving (so right at 6 months), and have been VERY happy with it. The only disappointment is that sometimes the battery would die sooner than I expected (i.e., after about 1.5 hours on high versus the advertised 3 hours). I charge the battery religiously every night when I park my bike, so I was certain that the battery was dying prematurely (I wasn't just forgetting to charge it). I emailed Don about it and he emailed me back 16 MINUTES LATER apologizing for the inconvenience, promising to send me a brand new battery for free right away (said I can keep the old one as a backup), and clarifying a few details about the battery performance. He pointed out that all of their advertising is careful to list the battery life as "up to" 3 hours, since there is some variation in battery manufacturing; anything from 2 to 3 hours on high is normal. But since mine was lasting less than 2 hours, it was considered a defect and covered by the 1-year warranty. Keep in mind that this is after 6 months of daily use, so who knows whether the battery decrease is really a defect or just normal wear and tear. Either way, Don didn't hesitate to send me a new one for free - all I had to do was send him one email asking nicely! :) Now, I realize that with such a glowing review, you may wonder about my motives. For the record, I paid full price for this light (after doing much research) and have not received any compensation beyond the replacement parts that I described above (and access to a really great headlight!). My only motivation for writing this is out of gratitude for the excellent product and excellent customer service provided by Don. I tend to be someone who reads lots of reviews but never takes the time to write them; Don has gone out of his way to earn a positive review from me, so here it is. :) While I'm writing, let me also mention that the red blinky taillight that comes with this headlight is also very good (I use it as my primary taillight). It uses *two* CR 2032 Lithium 3V coin batteries stacked on top of each other. To replace these batteries, you just wrangle the white plastic LED housing out of the red silicone band, and then pop off the back plastic cap (doesn't require any tools, just a fingernail). Replace the two batteries, then put everything back together. Very easy. In my experience, the blinky light gets dim after a couple months of consistent use, so I replace the batteries every month or two to keep them bright. One final note: at first I had trouble with the headlight slipping down when I went over bumps. At Don's suggestion, I wrapped some electrical tape around the handlebars and turned the last strip over (so the sticky side faced outward), then reattached the light. This has helped the light stay firmly in place for a few months now. TLDR: This light is awesome. The company is legit. Customer service is unparalleled. Rugged and powerful!
I have had a number of bike lights over my 60 years of riding. None have been anywhere near perfect, but this light comes very close. Retired in Florida, during the summer I tend to go out for long rides, late at night. The sun is just to hot and oppressive here during summer days. I'm a retired electrical engineer and have “home brewed,” a number of lights to solve the problem of never having enough light. Lately I've been experimenting with LED MR11C bulbs, using a 12 volt battery. The battery is a sealed lead-acid affair and on the heavy side. Until recently, this was my best solution. Then came the Bright Eyes Bike Light. This light is amazing! I mounted it on my helmet, keeping my MR11C light on the handlebars for comparison. The MR11C uses about 4 watts of power, which is much better than the quartz halogen lights that preceded it, they used 10 and 20 watts. The Bright Eyes, data (my unit, with replacement battery): Setting Power Volts/Amps Time High 7.6 watts 8.18 @ 0.93 2 Hr 31 min. Medium 2.37 watts 8.18 @ 0.29 7 Hr 41 min. Low Not tested N/A N/A The Bright Eyes, when first turned on, is in the high power setting. Hitting the power button a second time puts it in the medium setting. Hitting it a third time puts it in the flashing setting. If one holds the power button down for a few seconds, there are two other modes: Low power and then S.O.S. I didn't bother with either of these. The promotional information states that the unit will operate “almost three hours,” on high. When I first received my unit, I tested it on high and it only went one hour and thirty-one minutes, hardly “three hours.” I wrote the vendor and they immediately offered to send me a replacement 8.4 V battery, suspecting that was the problem. Two days later, the replacement did arrive, and it was somewhat different from the original. It was encased in a rubber jacket and appeared more hardy. The original battery, once charged, measured 8.42 volts after a charge and a rest period. The newer unit measured 8.18 after a charge and rest. I was skeptical the newer battery would perform as well as the original, but the above data shows good performance. As tested, my unit does indeed run almost three hours, two hours and thirty-one minutes is closer to three hours than two, but it is a stretch. I would prefer it were promoted as a 2.5 hour light on high, that would be closer to the truth. However, the “almost” eight hours on medium is quite good. Medium still makes for a VERY bight light. The amazing thing is how much light this unit has on high. It is blinding! I can easily read signs 1000 feet (333 meters) away. This light qualifies as a Darth Vader light saber. I use caution when looking towards oncoming traffic, for fear of blinding them. Almost every night that I go out I have surprises. The first night, I had some folks in a pickup truck, stopped at an oncoming traffic light yelling questions about where I got such a light. The second night, I had an oncoming bicyclist pull over, he thought I was some sort of emergency vehicle or police vehicle. High beam, truly is. I've found that for normal riding, the medium setting is perfect. It has long battery life and is nearly as bright as the high setting. Things I would like to see changed: The light runs until the sensing unit in the battery shuts it down. In other words, there is no warning when the battery is finished, it just turns the light off. If the rider knows how long the battery can run before this happens, no problem, but if the state of charge isn't known, it could be a surprise. It would be especially dangerous if one were mountain biking and careening down a hill and the light decided it was finished. I've spent years racing mountain bikes and would be concerned this could be an issue in a 24 hour race, where racers go all night. I would have liked to have it at least go into flash mode for a few minutes before just shutting off. The charger has a quirk. Normally, it charges just fine. However, if one lets the battery run until it shuts down the charger will fail to sense when the charge cycle is complete. Usually, the battery recharges quickly enough, but doesn't seem to know when it has finished IF the battery was allowed to shut down. When this happens, I unplug the charger from the wall and the battery and then reconnect it and, shortly, it shows the charging cycle has finished. I don't believe there is any harm, the charger stays cool and it seems to be just an indicator problem, but it is a bit odd. Summary. Would I purchase another Bright Eyes? Yes, absolutely. In fact, I plan to, for my wife's bike. It is a fantastic light, certainly one of the brightest in it's price class. It gives off an impressive light and is far better than anything I've used in all my years of cycling. The vendor support is also without compare. THE Light for cycling & running.
Updated: it is 2021 now and I've been using my 1200 Lumen headlight since 2015. My rides are shorter now and mostly in daylight, but I know my batteries are toast -- they do have a limited lifespan. But I am buying replacement batteries and a 1600 lumen light for my (long distance use) road bike keeping my original unit on my cross trainer. The light has held up well, the manufacturer exchanged my 1200 Lumen light where the status LED does turn red from green when power is waning. My original light reflects off of windows 1/2 mi away (4+ Chicago city blocks) and illuminates street/stop signs -- I have consciously made the effort to NOT point the lights into drivers' eyes. Reviewers can say I would buy again -- I am buying again, just now! Original: I just bought another two of these as a gift since I am so happy with mine. The only downside, the only reason for withholding a 5th star, is that I have found is that there is no warning on when the battery is going to be exhausted. This "problem" has two components: (1) battery life is so long, on medium & low, that it's possible to loose track of how much time is left & (2) the light stays at its top brightness right until the very end. And, still, I bought two more with heavy recommendations all around. I have used a number of different lights and I am fanatical about NOT riding after dark without lights, more to be seen than to see -- I live in Chicago and while it's relatively easy to see, being seen is another story. What I liked going in was the level of detail in the sales material on brightness levels and battery life. I found detailed information up front and in my usage over the past month, true. This is a new purchase (a month with this update), I've only charged the battery four times so far: The First charging cycle I used it in medium (800lm) and Blinking (high) and it is unbelieveably bright -- honestly I can say that it's almost too bright. Riding down the lake front bicycle path with it blinking, it lights up exit signs on Lake Shore Drive from over a quarter mile away. The 2nd charging went over twenty hours on low and I recharged it for a century ride. Light brightness, being measured in lumens (lm) and I do not have the equipment to validate the lumen levels, but the lights seem comparible to various household lights that are rated at equivilent lumen levels. At low, this light (at 350 lm) is noticeably brighter than another headlight marketed as 300 lmt. This light, on the LOW setting (350 lm) is bright enough that I recommend the diffuser; additionally, it is bright enough to be noticeable in daylight after 20+ hrs of use (without recharging). The light does not dim as the battery wears down. It is bright enough to use on the dark spots of the bike path and at this level, I have used 16 days, 1-1/2 to 2 hrs/day, without re-charging. Without the diffuser, and on medium (800 lm) this lights up the street & reflects off of traffic signs even after the sun comes up -- stop signs are lit up & it reflects from 3/8 mile away, in the city. With the diffuser, the light is much more social, kinder to oncoming traffic as well as lighting up more of the ground in front of me, as you would expect. It easily charges overnight. I've used it on two separate 50-mile rides, on the first charge cycle with the medium power, 4 hours for me. And for my daily, 2 hour workout rides during the week and on a 2nd 50-mile ride and it's still going. I really have no use for the "bright", steady, setting, it's too bright but if you are going off road, this is something that I suggest that might be bright enough for you. My one complaint is that the battery life on medium or high still seems to be much shorter than the charging cycle. On daily use, there's no problem, if you are looking to use the high setting on an all-night ride and would want to swap out batteries, you may need more than one spare because the battery is going to take longer to charge than you will discharge it. It has a great form factor, size/weight, and would seem to be good for running as well as biking. Shipping weight comes in at just over a 16 oz. The battery attaches to the bike via two velcro straps that I also use to anchor excess wiring so nothing hanging loose. There is new updated packaging with more straps to anchor loose wiring as well as a different wiring combination. The wiring out of each component has been shortened and there is an extension that can be put aside if not needed. The light attaches via O-ring bands (several extras are provided) that securely keep the light attached and aimed properly. We have an unlimited supply of potholes on my 50 mile route and I think that I've hit the vast majority of them without any effect on the light or the battery pack. The new light was mounted "sideways" on the steering column, due to auxiliary brake handles -- this light can be mounted beyond the handlebars. ... show more

Amazing light. Even more amazing seller.
NOV 2015 EDIT: I've been using this light just about every single day since June of 2014, both day and night, on my commutes and nighttime rides. It hasn't failed me yet. Zero problems. I don't often write reviews. But I feel this seller deserves a little support. The customer service and the product fly far above the rest. I was hesitant to buy these seeing that there are some on the market that sell for 100+ dollars and claim to have the same brightness, so I was weary of cheap Chinese knock-offs and put off getting one. That was until I injured myself crashing into a "yard sale" sign somebody kindly left in the bike lane one night. My then current light was too dim to pick it up until I was right on top of it, and it was on a section of road devoid of street lights. One big bump and a steaming mad cyclist later, I jumped on Amazon for the brightest light I could find. Here I am. The light itself feels of high quality, heavy metal housing and crystal clear glass lens. Surprising for something around 40 bucks. It lives up to its 1200 lumen designation. Now, I have no way of measuring if this light actually pushes 1200 lumen but I am also not that picky. All you need to know is that this light is BRIGHT. So bright in fact that it reflects off street lights a quarter of a mile away in the bright Las Vegas summer sun. At night, heck even during the day, I fear I am blinding on coming road users. I tend to tilt it down or hit the dim selection when approaching peds or at a stop light out of respect for other road users. It's MORE than enough light to see far in front of you at night. Sometimes I am caught off guard when the green light turns red to indicate a low battery, but I can usually get another hour out of it once I click it to a lower setting and the light turns green again. Even on low, it's brighter than most lights. 3 modes. Bright, dim, and flashing. Hold the button down 5 secs or so and you get 5 modes. Bright, dim, dimmer, flashing, and flashing S.O.S. (great for when stranded on a desert island) The flashing mode is a little too overwhelming and distracting especially when it reflects off my brake cables and other handlebar furniture and I only use it in emergency's when I absolutely MUST be seen, or during the day when the bright sun slightly dims it down, I flip it on for an added bit of safety and piece of mind. Why not use it at all times when I can plug the battery in and charge while I work? As a bonus, you get a head strap and a rear dual led light. Not the brightest light in the pack, but quite handy if you accidentally stay out past your bed time and just need something to be seen with (and to avoid a ticket from the cops) to get home. I sometimes use these cheap lights as give always for ninja or phantom cyclists who are out in all black without even a single reflector asking to get rear ended. The seller is what sets this light apart from everybody else. Great correspondence and numerous follow ups. Not follow ups that beg for a good review and that you buy more of their products, follow ups that radiate genuine interest and concern if you are enjoying what you bought and if there is any concerns or questions regarding the light or if I may need additional parts etc. They also listen to the customer, and offer to replace anything that people have said broke or wore out like rubber bands and seals or Velcro straps if need be. True customer service. What every store should strive for. Brick and mortar or online. The original battery mount fell apart rather quickly, and the seller sent me another more robust one, within a couple days of emailing him about the issue. This seller deserves your service. Pretty impressive so far......
Gonna start with 4 stars and go from there. This light is for a new bike i have not recieved yet. So far here is what i think. BRIGHT. Even on low its bright. Of course thats seeing it shine in the daytime and looking into it. I will report back on how it performs in actual use. It is a LOT smaller than i was expecting which is actually nice. The rubber bands seem pretty durable and the battery and the light arent that heavy. I could have done without the tactical presentation box with magnetic closure, its nice, but hell that alone probably would knock 3 dollars or so off the price. Not bad for less than 30 delivered in just over a week. The tail light had gotten jostled and activated, so it was a little less than fully bright, but it came with 4 replacement batteries, which is a nice touch. It came with primary and replacement bands for the main light also which is more than the description offered. The battery case seems almost bullet proof and the nylon bag seems pretty nice as well. The tail ligh seems like more of an after thought , i might get a second one of these as a tail light with the red filter and diffuser set and use the diffuser on the front. Hell i might get a second one for the front as well. The head light assy is kind of clunky, not the band really but the interface with the light is wonky, the power cord is awkward and the mount needs to stick out more so the light can have a better range of motion. I dont plan on using it that way, its a bit heavy, and big and from what i understand, it gets a bit hot. I have a good head lamp by coast that works really well so not a big deal for me but in case someone was looking for that feature, keep that in mind. Comes with an extension cable, so thats also a nive touch. Seems well made and durable over all. I am charging the battery right now and will give a battery life review whenits charged. The strobe is freaking crazy fast. So what would i change? Well pretty much the only things would be a medium setting and to sell an option for a battery pack that accepts standard off the shelf c or d cell alkaline and nimh batts. That way you have some versatility. I realize with the voltages we are talking about it would require additional circuitry and probably cost as much as the light set itself. Ok make it i will buy it. Also a addo on lens that allows focusing or spreading. Will review battery life, install, usability and performance later. 4 stars for now. Ok, so its been 4 months and ive used the hell out of this thing. Its a great light, the only three things i would mention is that the head gear needs to be redesigned to allow for more ergonomic aiming of the light, the mount doesnt allow for a level setting of the light when you are looking straight ahead, its canted a little down. Also, it might be necessary to add a wrap of high friction tape or something where you plan to mount it. The light has a slight tendency to shift up or down over time. I have mine mounted on a motorized bicycle, so that might not be an issue on a standard bike. A word on the seller, long after i got out of the return period, the light malfed on me, the wires broke pff the driver board and its toast. The battery still works well and i contacted the seller and asked if they would replace the light. They responded the same day and told me they would send me a new light asap. Good seller, good light, not perfect, but damn near and for the money, its hard to beat. Update, recieved the replacement fast. It was a much better unit, the switch is much more responsive and seems like its gonna be a great replacement. Upgrading for great service after the sale. So well over a year now and the replacement light is still going strong. The original battery is still going stong. I use it almost every day for about 20 to 30 minutes and i charge once a week or less. The charger however is crap. It still works, but it came out of the box all janky needing to be bent a certain way to keep charging or it will show a green light when its not charged, so you have to check it frequently to make sure you are really getting a charge. What would i change? Well there is a hidden mode that does have a medium setting as well as strobe and sos mode. You turn it on then turn it off and hold the button i think for a few seconds and the light blinks and then goes out. Turn the light on and cycle through the new modes. But if you unplug it, it goes back to the default three mode setting. I would like to see this be persistent and not lost when depowering. Also i would like a resume mode to where if you say put the light in medium or low or strobe and you press and hold, it turns off but turns back on to the last mode when you turn it on. This would also allow you to turn the light off without having to cycle through the modes. Would like to see a lens that narrows the beam out into sort of a fan shaped cone of light on the road. Would be more useful than the spot is now. But for the average commuter or occasional rider, this is a great light. But have a backup incase you forget to charge or the battery dies. ... show more

Light up the night!
This is hands down the best bike light I have ever owned. It comes with the head lamp which is machined very nicely and feels extremely sturdy and is quite compact when resting on your handlebars. The headlamp is held down by O rings, which the seller provides 4 of (2 large and 2 smalls). They seem to hold it down really well if you are able to get the precise fit from one of the two O ring sizes. If not you can easily put some kind of tape (electrical or grip) under it and It will stay snug. I have it on my cyclocross bike and I take it out on some really rocky and rough trails and it stays exactly where I want it too. The best part is I can even tilt it up or down to see further or avoid blinding pedestrians/traffic (it doesn't however pan side to side). The headlamp again is very well made, super sturdy and feels very high quality. It has a single press button on the back that turns green when the lamp unit is plugged into the battery pack. The button also turns red if your battery is low (this is so much appreciated). It has three modes: High, Low, and Strobe. I find that high is very bright and can light up the entire trail easily, I actually have to be wary and tilt it further down when I'm in traffic or on a shared path because I feel like it is blinding everybody. Low is really good as well, it seems to be about half the brightness and is perfectly acceptable for biking at night. It is pretty much the brightness that most AA/AAA battery lights are. Strobe on the other hand, I only use during the day because at night the HIGH intensity strobe literally blinds you. It hurts my eyes just looking at it, I wish there was a low intensity strobe as well. Apparently you can also choose to use a 5 mode setting, which gives you: High, medium, low, strobe, and SOS. I've switched to this setting once and found that I don't need it, although it is really awesome for those that do want those options. Now to review the battery: As you guys should know by reading the description, this light unit requires an external battery, that is quite large. It comes with a rechargable 4400 mAh battery that sits in a nylon/fabric type holder that attaches to any tubes on your bicycle through two velcros. The holder seems very sturdy and seems like it would hold up very well to everyday uses, however the velcro themselves seem very flimsy and I wouldn't be surprised if they fall off after a while (but this can be easily remedied by sewing them back on or some kind of reusable zip ties). The battery itself is covered in a one piece silicone (rubber?) sleeve that prevents it from getting water damaged, and thus I think makes this battery extremely durable. The battery life is quite good as well, from a full charge I can get anywhere from 2.5-3 hours on High and I've gotten about 5 hours on low. I think this is pretty good considering the insane amount of light this thing puts out. Now if you don't want this light from the glowing reviews alone, here is why you should buy it: The seller provides an unprecedented level of customer service. I have never had such great customer service from a seller before in my life. I've had some really good customer service before, from companies like Logitech and what not, but I have to say that this seller outdid any previous customer service rep I've ever dealt with. I sent in a very late off hour email and it was responded to very promptly. We conversed so quickly through email, it might as well have been instant messages. The seller stood behind his product and ensured that the product was in 100% working order before everything was said and done. So if you are on the fence about this product, just buy it. You'll never find a better light or a better person to deal with. Now for a quick pros and cons: PROS: VERY bright SOLID construction GREAT run time AMAZING customer service CONS: -Cables are little too long, have to wrap them around the tube quite a bit (perfect for those who wants to place their battery anywhere they want I suppose. -Battery holder is a little flimsy, it stays on pretty well but kind of shifts side to side, will have to put some grip under it. Ok, so I must first start by saying..
WOW! I am definitely impressed with this light, as well as the FREE tail light it comes with. When I compared it side by side with the lights I already have, there literally is NO competition. Not even CLOSE! 1200 Lumens is almost embarrassingly bright; I feel like I will be offending people with this light lol that's how bright it is. My eyes still have those blinky things you get when you see flash from a camera. It has several settings too; my old light has only 2: constant and flash. This new light has like 5 different settings if you push and hold the power button for 3 seconds and then you can just push it once to get through each setting. It is also water proof, which is awesome. It also comes with a headband that you can attach the light to, if you like to ride that way, or if you like taking early-morning/late-night jogs or hikes. I have no idea how I'd wear it on my head since I have an afro lol, but I guess if I were wearing a hat, I could wear it around that. Be kind of weird to see an afro split into 4 sections from the band lol. I should also mention that if you ride vintage French (I ride a Peugeot Vitus 181 Course road bike, circa 1981) this light will fit your bike too (as you know, older Peugeot models before the mid-80s tend to have weird measurements). With my old light, I had to tweak it to make it fit. The back light will fit around my seat post as well, nice and snug with no issue, although I attach it to my panniers since I use those instead of my back pack much of the time. But it's nice to know since I did test it. It has an external battery pack, but it is completely necessary to get a light this bright in this price range. There are other lights out there that are probably this bright, but it won't be this inexpensive; you will be looking at around $100-$200 for one. I love that it's rechargeable, I love that it's easy to install and remove, and most importantly, I love that it's so bright that I don't feel I need to worry as much about whether other cars will see me or not. I feel very confident now. There are parts of the streets that I ride where there is no bike lane, and so I'm forced to ride along with traffic. This light makes me feel more comfortable doing that, coupled with the reflectors on my panniers as well as my reflector vest. I'm even more visible than before. But now, I can also see better too. If you are parking your bike outside for any reason, definitely remove this light and any other removable accessories that don't require tools. This one would definitely be a hot item that will go missing if you don't. As far as overnight storage, I store mine in my apartment, so no worries there. Consider doing so if you can. As for the back light, it is also very bright, you can remove the red silicone cover and the little white seal on the back if you ever end up needing to change out the battery, which it takes a clock type of battery. These can be found on Amazon as well as at your local Wal-Mart for cheap. Slide the red cover back on once you're done. I also decided to go ahead and grab the extra battery pack for $15.99, also here on Amazon. It's worth it if you want to make sure you're never out and tend to ride longer and don't want to come up short. This one will stay on for up to 6 hours on medium brightness, 3 hours on the brightest setting. So it's good to have. Anyway, I highly, HIGHLY recommend this light, if you ride at night, whether it's occasionally or on the regular, whether you ride on the streets or on dark trails. This light will get the job done and then some. Whenever I get a gas scooter, I plan to figure out away to put this one on it as well lol. The flash mode can also help with making street lights change faster too, there are some laggy street lights near my house and I always use the flash to make it change faster. Completely worth the money, you won't find a better one for this price. There are cheaper ones that claim to be like this light, but they are imitations, always better to buy straight from the source, spend the extra $10-$20 for something that works and is actually reliable. ... show more

Never even got a chance to use it.
After receiving this item in the mail I read the pamphlet which instructs you to charge this item before using it. I did just that and noticed a red light on the charger and the back of the actual light (the button to press to turn it on) turned a soft green. I let it be and went about my day. Within about five hours I decided to turn it on to see how it looked. It was very bright and I was impressed. I then put it aside to use for later. I unexpectedly went out of town for a few days. So I decided to go for a bike ride and tested the light and to my disappointment it no longer worked. I plugged into the charger and the charger didn't work nor did the soft green light behind the actual light illuminate any longer. I guess I got a lemon but I was irritated and was left unimpressed so I printed up the return label and off it went to the seller. I might have kept it, had it worked, but there were also a few things I didn't like about the light fixture. I knew that it had a separate battery which needed to be attached to the bike. What concerned me was having to remove not only the light but to have to go through the trouble of removing the battery as well every time I locked up my bike somewhere. This light fixture is best suited for people who ride bikes without having to lock up their bike in public areas. At least that is how I feel on the matter. On a typical day I use my bike to run errands and lock it up three to five or even more times daily. I live in an urban area and anything left on your bike that can be easily taken will be gone if you leave your bicycle for extended periods locked somewhere. To have to go through the trouble of having to remove the light along with the battery every time I do this seems too tedious. I live in the Seattle area so if I leave the cable connected to the bike with zip ties I would run the risk of moisture getting into either end of where the cable connects to the battery and/or light fixture. I would imagine this would cause problems. The other thing that irritated me was that this light fixture is supplied with "O" rings to connect to your handlebars. This isn't a very secure and convenient way to fasten a light fixture. Anyone here can see from prior reviews that this is one of the biggest annoyances with the light fixture and people complain about it failing when riding bumpy roads. What didn't set well with me were the suggestions provided in the manual to rectify the situation. One of them was to use gray tape to create some extra bulk and traction where the "O" rings would hold the light in place. Another suggestion was to buy some type of spray on material from your local hardware store to help create grit and texture on your handlebars. I'm not interested in applying either one of these techniques to my bicycle. It's not aesthetic nor do I want to permanently alter my handlebars with some sort of spray. Who is going to do this with a brand new bike? Another suggestion somewhere was to "sand" the "O" rings to help create more grit. I'm sorry but these options sound a bit too ghetto fab for me and I want things clean and simple and professional looking. The only thing I enjoyed about this product was the free red rear light that was provided in the box. Since it didn't need charging I immediately fastened it to the back of my helmet and ran some errands while the front headlight was charging at home. I almost thought of contacting the vendor to offer to buy it. But I declined to do so in the end. I'm grateful the return process didn't cost me anything.
