This espresso machine has been awesome. We’ve owned it for about 9 months and so far have had no issues with it. My wife always loved to go by Dutch bros and Starbucks for breve lattes and whatever else, but since buying this she has not been back to either of those places, she thinks the espresso drinks out of this machine taste better. I like the occasional latte as well and being able to have a fresh drink in a matter of minutes(especially in the mornings) is pretty cool. Also, if you like iced lattes this thing is great in the summer. I think it’s the only one that does cold shots and it does them well. If you’re trying to decide what kind to get and you care about ease of use, go with this one… I can’t stress enough how user friendly and easy this thing is to operate. Very little work needed for high quality espresso beverages.

We were really excited about this machine. The Oracle Jet makes excellent coffee when it works. Beautiful design, automatic features, and a great milk system. Then it auto-updated. After the update, the machine completely stopped tamping. We tried everything: full reset, multiple grind settings, all drink profiles, deep cleaning, and even holding the portafilter to the left like forums recommend. Nothing worked. The shots were watery, fast, and had zero crema. The pucks were loose no matter what we did. Customer support forums confirmed we’re not alone — the most recent firmware update seems to have broken the tamping logic. The machine grinds, but doesn’t tamp, which defeats the entire purpose of an automated espresso system. We returned it and ordered a replacement. New unit arrives tomorrow, and we will not be connecting it to Wi-Fi to avoid any future firmware failures. This is a beautiful machine and clearly has potential, but the fact that an update can disable core functionality — and there’s no way to roll it back — is a major red flag. If you buy it, disable auto-updates or skip Wi-Fi entirely. Great coffee isn’t worth espresso PTSD.

So, having lost my Breville Touch to my kid, I decided to upgrade. This beast is AWESOME! Worth every penny of the money saved versus buying cafe’ drinks at $5/day x 365=$1,825.00. Including milk and other necessities, you’ll be at a break-even at about 1-1/2 years after buying it. Pros: Ease of setup, ease of use, auto grind/puck compression feature, the best screen interface in the industry by far, excellent cafe-quality of each of the multitude of coffee drinks, great selection of options for milk frothing, water tank is large enough for a bunch of cups and/or drinks Cons: weight of machine (but it has the wonderful move-assist function to offset the weight issue), pucks have a tendency to remain in the PortaFilter even after banging the life out of the thing (requires fine-adjustments of ground courseness and volume), wanted a 2 oz cup of coffee but they limit the machine to 8oz

Yes, it’s expensive. It’s also beautiful. It’s easier to refill the water and clean than my last machine. It’s customizable enough to make real coffee lovers have precise control, while easy enough that a novice like me could use it right away. It’s also made the best coffee out of the machines I’ve had. It’s also the first machine where I actually prefer coffee from this machine over any coffee shop I’ve been to. There are probably other coffee makers that are better values, but if you’re willing to splurge on this one, you won’t be disappointed.

The Breville Oracle Jet makes it incredibly easy to create high-quality espresso drinks without needing to learn all the complicated details of espresso making. Everything feels streamlined and intuitive, which is perfect for someone who wants amazing coffee at home without becoming a full-time barista. It’s also surprisingly fast when making multiple drinks, making mornings or entertaining much easier. The automatic milk frothing is fantastic, and the auto-purging steam wand is such a convenient feature that keeps cleanup simple. Beautiful machine, excellent performance, and very user-friendly.

For the price of this machine I would expect it to work well for at least 5 years without problems. This one lad exactly 12 hours. I received it at around 4pm on Sunday. I assembled it and made 3 expresses, one late and one Americano. At 6 am on Monday it was already not working. The spring of the portafilter got loose and even after I put it back on, the grinder will not work and the machine is pretty much bricked, a very expensive paper weight sitting on my counter top. Very disappointing that such an expensive machine breaks the very first day. This one is going back and not returning here, not worth, will research something else and will not be barista

I ordered this machine twice. I returned the first one because it had been heavily used and was very dirty and the wrong color. I also returned the second one even though it was shipped new in perfect condition. I really like the Jet. It produces very good espresso shots. It was easy to dial in the grind and I never had any problems with the grinder, leveler or built-in tamper. I found the graphic interface screen to be easy to use and helpfully informative. For me, having a visual cue on the screen really made the grinding and tamping process fun and it helped me to obtain repeatable results. You can activate the grinder by touching the grinder icon on the screen or shifting the portafilter to the right once you have it inserted in the filter head. It really was fun to do. While brewing there is a circular progress indicator as well as a numerical prompt that indicates how long your shot is taking. It really is helpful for dialing your shot in. The visual prompts on the (very beautiful and responsive) screen just seem to make the process easier and more understandable. The barista guidance is fun but really isn't "intelligent " as it just keeps telling you to adjust the grind by 3 numbers in whichever direction you need until your shot pulls in an acceptable period of time. Sometimes I accidently "choked" the shot and got no guidance at all so it is very inconsistent. The front load water fill is nice but if you spill any water it runs right down over that big beautiful display. I found that to be worrisome. The auto steaming function does not function as advertised. In auto mode you get lots of big bubbles and almost no microfoam. Although I don't really care about latte art I couldn't bring myself to accept this due to the price of this machine. In manual mode it worked really well for cappuccino foam. However, the wand only moved by swinging the tip towards you and that is what activates manual mode. There is no side to side movement. I found it awkward to use. A big negative for me is that there is so much plastic. The water tank is plastic. The water valve in the tank is plastic. The water lines are plastic( silicon) the shower screen holder is plastic. The steam wand tip is plastic. To clean the tip you have to unscrew it and I can imagine over time the fine plastic threads could get messed up. Essentially, with the exception of the heater almost the entire brew path is plastic. The machine connects to the internet and updates itself. I've read that some owners have machine failures after updates. Also, the machine stores everything you do on its processor. Your cleaning habits are recorded and can be uploaded by Breville to see if you've been following instructions. I know the instructions should be followed but it feels like I'm testifying against myself if I accidently forget a cleaning cycle, although I've read that the machine won't let you proceed if you have missed a cleaning cycle. I haven't attempted to verify this so I don't know if this is in fact true. To wrap up, I really like the Oracle Jet but there is too much plastic and electronic technology. There are many testimonies that state the machine has problems and that it can be hard to get these problems rectified and that customer service is hit and miss. That combined with the fact that the auto steam doesn't live up to advertising and the exorbitant price led me to return it. I had no faith that this $2175 (with tax) experiment would last 6 months much less outlive it's 2 year warranty. Addenda: The Jet really is attractive. I would like to add that it is easy to change brew and steam temps unlike the barista express which requires playing "button twister" It does have a seductive feature set and appearance but again I think its too risky a purchase for the money. Thanks. Addenda#2: just FYI, i discovered that the bean hopper from my 12 year old barista express worked perfectly in the Jet even though I had read that that wouldn't be the case. Therefore, its possible that some of the single dose hoppers for sale on Amazon that are made for the Barista Express will also work for the Jet. I miss my Jet . It made things simple and quick with a very simple work flow. I'll keep my eye on newer reviews going forward to see if a pattern of reliability develops. Until then....

Absolutely worth it. If you want effortless, no hassle, café quality espresso at home, this machine delivers. The cold brew and cold espresso features are what sold me they produce consistently smooth, flavorful shots with zero bitterness or sour notes. Every cup tastes balanced and reliable. The Milk IQ system is impressive as well. I’m still have some fine tuning as i want just a little creamier texture, but it’s already performing great. Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with how easy it is to use and how consistently excellent the results are.
