  • RUN, DO NOT WALK AWAY AND FIND YOURSELF A DIFFERENT JUICER!!!!!
Less than 30 minutes, and less than 10 pounds of lemons later, I can’t return this juicer fast enough. I had high hopes for this juicer, I really did. Two years ago we bough Breville’s Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, and fell in LOVE with it. The only time we use our big oven is if I’m cooking something that won’t fit in the Breville. So when I decided I needed a new juicer I didn’t hesitate one bit before dropping $230 plus tax on Breville’s Citrus Press Pro Electric Juicer. It took five days to get to me and my excited was hard to contain. Amazon delivered it at 6:49pm, and by 7 I was unboxing and washing parts. I was so excited I decided not to wait until morning to try it out. After one lemon I was ready to juice everything that night. Normally I’d tell you about all the things Liked about the juicer, but that won’t be necessary this time. A bit of back story on my old juicer, because I will be comparing the Breville juicer to it. It was a Vinci $100 juicer, and I loved it, until I didn’t. Eight months after I got it a small rubber piece in it deteriorated. A call to Vinci yielded no help. According to them the juicer would run just fine without that piece (then why bother putting it in). And yes, it DID run, except it didn’t juice as well. It would take longer, and more cycles to get the same amount of juice as before. And when I first got it, I wasn’t a heavy juicer. I’d do about ten pounds at a time, every 2-4 weeks. The longer I had it, the lower the juice output got. Contacting Vinci did no good. It wasn’t until I had the unit nearly a year, and got so fed up with it that I decided to leave a review for it. Needless to say, it wasn’t glowing. The very NEXT DAY after it went live Vinci contacted me and offered me the replacement they’d refuse to give me months earlier. Hoping the early deterioration of the rubber piece was a one time thing, I started using the new one. Around this time my juicing went up, as my health declined more. Eventually I started doing 40 pounds at a time and freezing it, so I wasn’t having to juice as often. The Vinci handled 40 pounds of lemons like a dream, and it did it without ever overheating once. NOT ONE SINGLE TIME. Unfortunately, the early deterioration of the rubber piece wasn’t a one time deal. Six months after getting the new one it too deteriorated, and once again the output dropped. It got to the point that I’d juice as much as I could with the Vinci, and my son would finish off the lemon by hand. When I finally decided I’d had enough I started researching juicers. I quickly ran across the Breville and decided to buy it. I told you about the Vinci so I can offer the comparison to the Breville. Like I said, after one lemon I was in love with the Breville. While my son cut lemons, I juiced. Less than 30 minutes after I started the Breville came to stop. I didn’t even consider overheating, because the unit didn’t feel hot to the touch. So while my son checked for answers online, I started checking things like was the outlet still working, or did the breaker trip. When my son let me know that it had probably overheated I was taken aback. You HAD to be kidding me. After maybe 25 minutes of juicing, and not quite ten pounds of lemons? For a juicer that cost close to $250 with tax? So per the manual we unplugged the unit and I set a timer to wait out the 15 minutes the manual said to wait. I fumed the entire 15 minutes. Remember, the $100 Vinci would do FORTY POUNDS of lemons without ever once overheating. Fifteen minutes passed and I plugged the unit back in, turned it on, and nothing. So we less than patiently wait ANOTHER 15 minutes. And nothing. Round three…nothing. After round three I had no intention of keeping the juicer. I just wanted to finish the 30+ pounds of lemons I had, then I could research other juicers. After round four of waiting 15 minutes, I walked out of the kitchen in disgust. Not quite ten pounds of lemons and less than half an hour of juicing, then a ONE HOUR wait, and NOTHING. I now have to send my son out tomorrow to find something we can use to juice the 30+ pounds of cut lemons I have bagged up in the back of my fridge, because the Vinci is already on its way to the extended warranty company who required it shipped to them in order to pay on my warranty claim. I’m furious! I simply cannot reconcile what I paid for this juicer with its performance. And to add further insult to injury, because of Amazon’s new return policy it could take me a month before I see my refund for what turned out to be an expensive paperweight. So, just in case you actually need me to say it, NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. Not in a million years would I say you should buy it. RUN, do not walk, to the next in line juicer of your choice. If you don’t have a backup in mind, then keep researching. Just do NOT buy this! ... show more

  • Quiet, fast, easy to use and sturdy
UPDATE 7/5/2021: I upgraded my rating from 4 to 5 stars based on over a year of use since I wrote the original review. My wife and I love this citrus press. None of my early concerns (listed below) turned out to be issues at all. I love the little flap that allows you to stop the flow of juice between glasses. Since we usually make 2 glasses of juice, this has been handy. It doesn't leak or drip at all. Original review: The unit is solid, nice looking on the counter, easy to use, very quiet, and really fast. This thing gets all the juice out of an orange half in seconds. I feel like I'm cheating. I am able to make juice in a fraction of the time and with much less mess than the plastic juice attachment for our Kitchen-aid. I can put an empty glass under the spout and fill it with juice without anything spilling or splattering, unlike the Kitchen-aid which makes a mess. You can make many glasses of juice before you need to clean the strainer. This was a very worth while upgrade. So why 4 stars instead of 5? The juice tray and strainer are both made of thin (but solid) stamped stainless steel with a safety issue: the thin outer rims are sharp, as are the inner rims that go over the shaft. If you were cleaning them and slid your finger quickly along this rim with much force, you could get the metal equivalent of a paper cut. I took the tray and strainer to my shop and sanded the edges a little. This helped, but the problem is that these rims are so thin, like a knife, that there is only so much I could do. If you normally wash with latex gloves, this is no issue. If you are aware and wash gently, you won't have an issue, but you will notice the sharp edge so be careful. The specific model I got was the 800CPXLBSS. I received the unit from Amazon on Feb 25, 2020. One tip for assembly: the strainer has a little bump in the bottom with an arrow on it. When installed, this should point to the back of the unit, aligning with the bump in the juice tray. Because the spout on the juice tray is in the front, my first inclination was to align the bump in the strainer with the spout but I quickly saw this was incorrect. The unit comes with well written instructions, although you can figure it out without them. There are 4 spare white split O-rings for the top of the fruit dome. The fruit dome is the piece which snaps into the handle and keeps the top of the fruit from spinning. It is held in place by friction, and my guess is that these must wear out over time for Breville to include 4 spares. The ring is what keeps the fruit dome from falling out of the handle. This ring is not what keeps the fruit dome from spinning. The fruit dome is solidly keyed and has no chance of spinning. There is only one strainer, which is perfect. I like a little small pulp in my juice and this is exactly what the Breville 800CPXLBSS delivers. I found an on-line video that showed two strainers with the unit - one fine and one coarse. This must be an older video, or for a different model. The power cord has a nice finger hole in it to pull out of the socket (U.S. model). I am happy with the unit and would buy it again. This is our second Breville appliance. We have a Breville toaster that is incredible - a work of art in ease-of-use, features, and quality, which is why we decided to try this Breville Citrus Press. The Citrus Press is pretty nice and I'll give it an A. The toaster gets and A+++. ... show more

  • The best!!
Use it every morning. Have had other electric citrus juicers and this is the BEST. Worth the money.

  • Great, Easy to use, Easy to clean.
We got this specifically to make orange juice only. It works fast, efficient, and takes out a good portion of pulp (but not all) for a quality drink. It's easy to disassemble and clean, and easy to reassemble. I've had a lot of clunky juicers that I hate to clean, but this one is much easier. 4 pieces that lift right off, clean and rinse, and put back. Also, it's powerful without making me feel like I'll lose a finger making a mistake. Well made. Worth the money. Would buy as a gift. ... show more
