Okay, changed my awning for much thicker and durable fabric. Standard strap was to short, so this is much better. A bit longer than I'd like, but meh. Only complaint is that it tends to slide off the tube in mild breezes, so make sure to secure it when awning is deployed. Other than that, zero complaints. ... show more

The advertisement said to remove the end of the awning roll and insert the new strap end in the slot. That proved somewhat difficult because the end of my awning roll is assembled firstly with square-headed screws and two rivets indicating that it is not meant to be taken apart possibly. It did seem dangerously like taking that thing apart might be like opening a Jack in the box . Finally I researched it on YouTube and everybody on YouTube has a clever way of installing this by not removing the end but drilling a diagonal hole in the slot down on the end and tapping it in a tight hole and then sliding it to its destination in the center of the awning. It seems to have worked quite well! I couldn't find a single person on YouTube that installed one by disassembling the awning end to assess the other course. I chose the Youtube plan as the safer more sure bet. Diagonal whole had to be a bit bigger than the insert to manage it in- as the insertion is a bit cornerish. ... show more

UPDATE:After leaving the review below the company reached out to me and offered me a refund. That’s good customer service and would therefore recommend this company for other items. This thing sticks out about 3/4 inch from the trough it slides in. This protrusion leaves a lump in the fabric as it rolls up and will eventually wear a hole. ... show more
