I've never owned a ratcheting belt before. Only the nylon type with the slide through buckle with the slide. So, I was a bit unprepared. Have you ever owned a belt that has the typical hole and bar? You alive the belt through the buckle and try to line up a hole with the bar that's closest to holding your pants where you need them. Problem is, one is too tight, one is too loose. So you want a middle hole, but that would weaken the belt, do you're stuck. Not with these belts! Adjust perfectly to your current size within the belt's range. It's great! Need a half inch? Release the lever and give a little slack. Added something into your pocket and need a little more hold? Simply push the belt in an extra click or two. So simple. Is it durable? Well, I can tell you this: After all the holes in previous belts wore out and end up breaking belts, I don't have to worry with this belt. There aren't any holes! Just ridges in the back of the belt made of solid material. Worried about style? Worry no more! They have a lot of styles to choose from. Business, formal, casual, you're all set. This is definitely the belt for you, unless you like belts that don't fit right, wear out quickly, and don't match all your styles of dress.

I’ve had and used this belt for about a month, wearing it about 3 out of 5 work days a week. I really like it so far, surprisingly so. I did have a panic moment when I first put on the belt without knowing how to undo the ratchet part... I was stuck in the belt! Once you figure it out (it’s not hard), it really pretty nice. Seems like a quality belt, there is some weight to it unlike faux leather belts. The buckle is solid too and seems built to last. If they had a lighter brown color I’d get a second, but for now I’m happy with the black one. Good choice.

Once I figured out how to assemble this belt, I was pleased by the way it works. It has an adjustable, sliding latching mechanism so I can find just the right length to keep my pants from slipping down! However, the accompanying directions I found to be very confusing. In the first place the diagrams didn't seem to match the belt I was looking at. I finally figured out that the squared-off end is held in place in the buckle by a row of little spikes on a lever that has to be pressed down into the leather (that end can also be trimmed if the belt is too long). If you do decide to cut off some of the belt, I assume that means it cannot be returned, so you must be very careful. But, once the square end is secured to the buckle, the other end slides through the opening on the other side very satisfactorily.

I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the build. It seems like this will last me for a very long time. I will probablybuy a couple more styles and colors. I have become a big fan of the bucling mechanism and how it works. The fact that there is no pinching around the belly for a heavier guy like me, makes this my top choice for belts. I haven't worn any of my old belts since I got this one.
