I have several or actually 100's of pedals. Many vintage, boutique, and custom made. I have quite a few BOSS pedals that I use regularly depending on what sound/tone i need to cover the sound found on a album for performing live. The pedal is good, but i notice my vintage Japanese OD-1 and Blues driver have a more open sound than this SD-1. Sounds more compressed for some reason. Boss pedals are Roland and have high end engineering and are reliable even if beat on daily. Good product but be aware of the sound character given as an example. ... show more

This Boss overdrive gives the classic vintage overdrive sound in a compact package. Yes, you lose the battery option, but you gain room on your pedal board. Totally worth it in my case as I already use a power supply. Matches well with other Boss pedals. Sturdy and well made for gigs, practice, etc.
