This rating is for my MKII, which is GREAT! I see the same listing has now been changed to the newer version, so note that these reviews are for both models/versions. I played guitar 20 years ago and back then I had a 10W Marshall and a 100W Kustom. I am happy that I "upgraded" to something more modern. Very cool! I was worried that it would be hard to get used to this amp and all the settings/controls, but that has not been the case. I picked it up easily. Great tones. Nice settings and various options. I love the 5W setting for home practice. This amp is surprisingly small and light (in a good way). The handle is sturdy. Construction is fantastic. Mine came with a very high quality cable, too. I highly recommend this over other popular amp brands.

This Katana is a great instrument, whether you use it as a preamp for recording, as I do or live performance. Power, clarity, are great. Effects are fantastic. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. I just hope it lasts forever. And, it gives lots of options for input/output.

I’ve only played it through headphones but this thing is very versatile. I recently had my gear stolen and bought this in the meantime instead of having to buy an amp and a bunch of pedals, most of which were boss anyway. I haven’t even scratched the surface on what this can do yet.

Great value for the money, but getting your guitar hooked up to the computer software is a NIGHTMARE. If you’re buying this, screenshot this review to make setting it up MUCH easier since the directions were not 100% clear. When you go to the Boss website looking for software and firmware updates, make sure to SEARCH FOR YOUR EXACT MODEL and don’t stray away from that section. The page it brought me to had stuff for the Mk-II which will NOT work with this Gen-3 model. I had to redownload firmware, software, and drivers. The sound on this thing is awesome- only reason it’s not 5-star is because of how much a hassle it was to set up the software which you HAVE to use to use this to its fullest capacity. Once it’s set up, it’s awesome.
