OK the reason for the 5 vs 4 stars is you have to admit that you know what you are getting and for the price they are worth the money. In the past I would have not even looked at BOSS Audio stuff it was what they used to sell at the flea market and was cheaply made to be honest. HOWEVER I needed some new door speakers for my truck and I read ALOT of articles on speakers and for the price everyone said they could not beat these there were in the top 10 list on most reviews for a good low priced speaker that surprised the reviewers. So I took and a chance and got a pair and I have to say I have been really impressed with these little speakers you can hear the words in the lyrics in songs very clearly and have great highs and midrange. The bass end is not very endearing there is some but its more mid than deep, pair these with something like a powered under seat sub and I think you would have a very well rounded system that doesn't sound like you got a bag of tin cans in the trunk. I tried a cd with Sinatra to Die Antwoord with a little old school in there and they seemed to handle them all well. I would recommend turning down your treble some if your ride came with the extra factory tweeters like mine did or else it can be a little on the sharp side. Would I buy them again: Yes What kind of music: all types even talk radio like NPR or Savage the clarity of the voices is sooo much better. Cons: Could use a little more on the lower end. Pros: price and build ~ compared to what they used to sell these are 100 times better than what they used to market. Note on the 2002 Silverado I got the snap in rings to mount these and the rings were too small on the inside diameter and pressed on the rubber surround, I was able to take the factory clips and re use them and they fit perfect with these speakers so save some money and don't get the rings.Metra 82-3002 GM Full Size P/U SUV Speaker Adaptors 1995-2005 ... show more

I bought these speakers for my 1990 Honda Accord LX. I know a thing or two about audio, but I'm no master and I can't for sure root out the problem I'm having, so I won't actually blame the speakers for my problems. Especially because I wasn't thinking and bought 4 of these. Almost as soon as I placed the order I thought to myself, "Oh crap, I just bought 4 tweeter speakers, I'm not going to have any base." And I don't. They are 6.5" speakers and the website says they fit if your car is made for 6.5" speakers. Mine, however, did not go in without serious modification. I should have given up and returned them, but I didn't care because my car was only $450. I highly suggest using a better gauge wire than they come with, that might be part of my problem, but I can't be sure because... I have a 10-year-old Sony Xplod radio and I don't know what it's out putting. I also have a 23-year-old stock amplifier in my car and I don't know what it's outputting, or if it's only to the rear speakers or all 4. I have a problem where the sound doesn't get very loud, the speakers start clipping and what not. READ THIS! THE SPEAKERS ARE INTENDED FOR THE FRONT ONLY, GET YOURSELF DIFFERENT SPEAKERS THAT DON'T HAVE TWEETERS FOR THE REAR! If they don't fit your car, send them back. It's not worth it to modify your car to get the speakers in just to find out they don't sound very good with what you have. You get what you pay for, so if you're the farthest thing from a sound technician, ask someone who does know something on what to get (that goes for speakers, radio, amplifier, wires, etc.) I'm probably going to redo the wires running through my car soon. That's going to be a lot of work, stripping out the interior and all, so seriously know what you're doing when you buy speakers; I know I do, but I get lazy sometimes and buy the wrong stuff. Is this a good product? Yes, I think so. Would I recommend it to anyone? No, simply because there's stuff out there that's much better. Instead of spending $17 on two speakers, spend $40-50+, after all, you're gong to be listening to them all the time for a very long time. ... show more

This was listed as a fit for my Chevy HHR, and I guess it is, technically. Unfortunately it requires you to either drill mounting holes through the steel frame of the door, craft a mounting rig or buy an adapter for about $10/pair. I wish Amazon had suggested the adapter. Hopefully it is suggesting it for others. For the first replacement, this came as a bit of a surprise. I made do by connecting it to a thin support that could reach the one HHR mounting hole. This, combined with putting screws and backing clips into three of the four holes that lie just inside the speaker cut-out kept it from falling out. Not ideal as this could certainly introduce some extra rattle, but it's not like I'll be pushing these speakers very hard. For the next speaker I came in better prepared. I cut the frame off the stock speaker and used it as the mount (see photos). The bonus was that I could turn the wiring connector from the old speaker into an adapter, making the install process a flash (at least for the in-garage portion). My only real complaints about this speaker is that the grill is hideous in person, and they went with very long, extremely thin wires that nobody should use. ... show more

They’re not the best speakers in my opinion. However, you can’t expect much for the price. That’s why I give them 3 stars. The bass and the volume are not very good and the sound gets heavily distorted at higher volumes (which you have to use them at higher volumes because they don’t broadcast sound very well).
