  • Not As Good As Reviewers Claimed BUT I like It 😎
Style: Speaker only
Bose build quality. Its comfortable to wear even laying down which I'm doing right now as I write this. Sound is good not great but good. It's missing the deep booming bass that Bose is known for. It's more thumpy on this one and highs and mids sound a tiny bit muffled depending on what you're listening to. Many reviewers said it has a deep rich bass and that the sound was immersive like you're in a bubble that the sound surrounds you. It is not it does not. Get some good mini speakers and stick them under your ear. That's what it sounds like. There is no surround sound effect. I don't even think its true stereo. It's the form factor that is unique. You can have that louder sound without having to be loud because the speakers are right under your ears. You don't have the isolation like headphones or the wear on your head. The person next to you will be able to hear noise coming out of it. I heard a couple reviewers on YouTube say that the person next to you can't even hear it. That is not true. There is no way they can't. πŸ˜„ When connected to TV there is lag but if you get a good aptx you can cut the latency significantly to where it's not bothersome. Bose does state it's not ment for use with video that there is lag. I think they dropped the ball here. I'm watching a movie and it sounds like I have the volume up but I don't. It's great for when you need to be quieter but you want the full volume effect. Like I said though get a BTT with aptx and it cuts it down a lot. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ I'm a little disappointed in the overall sound quality I was expecting more at this price and from Bose. But you gotta give it to them for the comfy form factor and the flexibility of this device. You can bend it stretch it fits easily around your neck. Battery life is good its water resistant comes with a cover which is already on it and packaging that can be used for storage. There is a firmware update for this. I have no idea what it does. The app is simple it has a few adjustments. But it's another invasive app that wants your location your contacts phone status etc. πŸ™„ Why do they need my contacts. 🀨 I'm a Bose fan I have several products and I like them all. Including this! 😁 I like it because it's unique and it's good despite some things that I wish were better. Oh and phone calls are good. Person on the other end had no problem hearing me. They have something here that's an alternative to headphones and earbuds. They just need to improve on it. πŸ‘ UPDATE: I use this all the time especially at night in bed. Gotta bump it up to 5 stars. It connects so easily and remembers several devices. I can have it connected to my TV and phone. If I receive a call I hit the BT button and instantly can take the call. When I'm done i can switch back just as easily. It's been a couple of years I hope they release a new version but not for $300. $150 is the most i would want to pay. Notice how they are selling better now at this price Bose? Or better yet just give us another firmware update with surround sound and booming Bose bass. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ ... show more

  • Buy it with the proper expectations...
Style: Speaker only
PROS: o impressive battery life o Nice sound, just remember what it is o Very well thought out and implemented IMHO o I have always been pleased with Bose, and these are another "win" AFAIAC CONS: o buttons aren't as tactile as I would like o cover is difficult to get on and off OK, before you dive in to my review, please consider that how something "sounds" is a VERY subjective matter. This is why, back in the day (and even today) the best advice is to go somewhere that you can audition the product with a "reference" music source (typically a CD of music that you like) before you buy it. Music is modified SO MANY TIMES before you hear it that it is a very personal thing as to what is "good" and what is "bad". The person that mixes the sound for the initial recording has their own preferences. Even at a live performance, what you hear is affected by where you are sitting. Then there is the equipment (microphones, acoustics of the studio, monitors that are used by the person doing the mixing, recording medium, format, etc.). Not to mention our own personal hearing capabilities (or lack thereof). Then there is the capabilities on the reproduction end... speakers, acoustics, amps, preamps, listening environment, etc.. So if are reproducing music using whatever equipment and settings and it sounds good to you and somebody tells you that you are "doing it wrong" then avoid that person's advice. If you like bass that kicks the windows out, these aren't for you. I did an A/B comparison of a fairly bass heavy song between my Klipsch THX certified computer speakers and these, and the Klipsch sounded better to me, hands down. However, the role that these are filling is entirely different. I wanted something that did NOT cover my ears and block ambient sound, did not fit INTO my ears (i.e., earbuds) which don't stay in place for me, and wasn't something that was in my pocket with limited fidelity (pocket radio with monophonic and limited frequency reproduction). I went searching and found these. OK, I will concede that they lose out to a full blown stereo system (the bass isn't as "punchy"), but they *are* crisp and clear and well balanced (at least to my subjective ear). I wear them while cleaning (my occupation, commercial cleaning) and even though some of the activities are quite vigorous, they stay in place quite well. If I reach for something on a high shelf, I have to be careful not to dump them backwards off my shoulders, but otherwise they stay on nicely. Jogging would definitely NOT work with these. Sound is much better than the pocket radio I was using. When I first saw them at $300, I took a pass, but when the price cut in half, I took the plunge. I am very pleased so far. UPDATE 10/13/19 - OK, I fixed the brain fart in my review referring to them as "Sony"... doh!!! BOSE!!! Also, I bumped my rating from 4 starts to 5 stars. I have owned a Bose Wave radio, other Bose speakers, have bought such for others in my family, and have always been extremely pleased with their products. OK, so what do I have to add now? Basically, that I began using it with my cell phone (which I did not think that I would do), and the audio quality is excellent. I like that the phone overrides the MP3/FM player. And that these pair with multiple devices. Still extremely pleased with them and highly recommend them. ... show more
