  • See if you don't buy another one shortly after... ;)
Don't hesitate to get one of these SoundTouch 10s. They're excellent. I bought two. I own the new SoundTouch 130, and decided to get the SoundTouch 10 to add extra audio capability in my apartment. A week later I bought another one, these things are awesome! After hearing such awesome audio in my living room I needed to get the same in my kitchen and bedroom. The SoundTouch 130 had impressed me with its simplicity and versatility - and removed the need to install surround sound speakers, something I wanted to avoid this time around. I was in a bind between the lower priced (and excellent) Sonos sound bar, and the Bose. As far as audio quality is concerned, they were close. But the ease of use was the kicker that made me want to try the Bose 130 and 10, and Sonos lacks Bluetooth connectivity. Once I had it running at home I wanted more of the same sound throughout. So I went and listened to the 10 once more and ordered it online right after. Of course could have just picked it up at the Bose store, but I'm loyal to Amazon, who have taken good care of me over the years. I did get the second one (in white) at the Bose store though, I couldn't wait ;) I stream music from my PC via Windows Media Player, from Pandora stations, from Amazon Prime, various Internet radio stations and Audible audio books from my phone or Fire tablet. Sometimes I link the speakers together for whole house audio, sometimes the systems each play different things. Either way, it's a pleasure to have this system working so easily and seamlessly. Setup is quick, though I do feel the Bose app is slower to respond than it needs to be when configuring a new device. My main gripe is it takes a while each time it starts to find and display the Bose devices on the network. I don't know why it can't just remember them and display them right away. Other than that the app is quick and the speakers respond very quickly with the requested content. I love the way I can stream audio via BT to any speakers and then replicate that sound across the rest. Bose did a great job on these. The 10 can be controlled via your i) phone, ii) tablet iii) PC, iv) via the menu buttons on the speaker itself or v) the handy remote. The remote is a very useful addition. Bose gets extra credit for that, though the app is usually open on my devices when I'm home for quick access. Audio quality is of course at Bose standards, which are high. If you hate Bose, then why are you reading this? I have never had to crank these up, I probably only used them at maximum 30% volume to get clear, crisp audio in the open plan kitchen or bedroom. The audio carries well, just angle the speakers for the cone of sound to propagate across your living space correctly and the difference in audio fidelity is clearly apparent. These are elegant and stylish; they're small units, but with a heft and solid feel that speaks of quality. I only turned them up loud once to get a feeling for them, but only play them at lower volumes as indicated above. No need to turn them up to get great audio. Make sure the source is of high quality however, as bad audio will sound terrible. The speakers reproduce quality audio amazingly well, but poor quality streaming sources (typically internet radio) are faithfully reproduced and will ruin the listening experience. Mornings, evenings, quiet times, bedroom, kitchen, living room, holidays etc. will never be the same once you have these. Once you've had the benefit of these you will want to fill your house with them and use them all the time. They are that good. You will find reasons to upgrade your music and build a collection of good audio - I listen to a ton of Audible books now because of these things too. ... show more

  • ... sound and Bose is - hands down - the best sounding speaker out of any of the wireless speakers ...
I have bought six (6) Bose Sound Touch 10 speakers for my home to fill my house with synchronized sound and Bose is - hands down - the best sounding speaker out of any of the wireless speakers out there. I have tested Sonos speaker before for sound quality, volume, tenor and bass and there is a tremendous amount of difference between other products and Bose. There is a reason that Bose has been an industry leader in sound science and it's because they have it down to a science. No, I'm not a paid writer of reviews but a true and tried consumer and sound afficionado. In fact, I'm a director of a healthcare operation for a living by practice, but I also appreciate great sound. To come home to synchronized sound like this - out of such a small speaker pair - is truly remarkable. Yes, I make sure to create a stereo pair in each room, by combining two speakers into a stereo pair (easily) via Bose's customized app, but doing so creates a sound like you wouldn't believe - often coming out of speakers costing (literally) thousands more. To say I am happy is an undertatement. Bose has got sound down to a science. My only complaint is that the initial setup and update of the speakers - to connect to each speaker via the app and then to your local network - is rather complicated and is certainly not for the non-technology-savvy. Knowing Bose and their commitment to excellence in sound science and technology, I am certain this will be resolved soon. To rate this purchase as anything less than 5 stars would do a disservice to sound aficionados around the world, so I won't... Bose, you have beautiful, beautiful sound. If you fix your app, you will dominate yet another sound space in the technology world (but I'm guessing you knew that already). Bottom line, I'm a fan. A huge one. Bose is my team and always will be. As my father always taught me, "you cannot ever go wrong by buying the best." I did, Dad. I made you proud. -Brian Bequette ... show more

  • Totally awesome!!! Totally awesome!!!
This is probably the single best item that I have ever purchased! I have spent time comparing this to the Sonos System and went with Bose because:. 1) Bluetooth capability (in addition to the Network). 2) Wireless remote included. 3) it sounded like the Bose speaker would work with my wireless network extender (and it does!) Where the Sonos System seemed to require an additional purchase. (Although i cannot confirm/deny if this is a problem for Sonos) Now for the sound off, it is simply amazing. Low bass and full sound. This is the main reason for the speaker, right? Check mark. This little speaker can kick. Next the wireless.. Very simple setup. I connected to my Amazon Prime Music Account, which took me a minute to figure out. Now I have a hot button connected to my Amazon Classic Rock Station. Priceless!! Control of the device:. I have tried 3 ways (phone, remote, and on the speaker), and I think you can use your desktop as well. I paused the music on the remote, and started it again on the phone. Now THAT is cool! I love the hot buttons. They are assigned in the app. I don't know what else to say other than Bose Rocks! Perfect rating. Update:. A week later and still awesome. I walk in, press # 1, and boom, Classic Rock music fills the area. Lovin life! ... show more

  • Nice!! Glad I bought it.
This is the upgrade for me from iPod and boom box speaker. I just got it yesterday. These are my notes (aka don't remember reading a review like this when I was reviewing reviews!!) Notes: fairly easy install with app on iPad. But then when it comes time to add your iTunes library with/on/for wi-fi you will need a working properly computer that has your iTunes library on it --my laptop is dying but all is not lost..If you are SOL like me in the computer dept. you can at least listen to Pandora (with your paid subscription.) I've saved the best for last - Bluetooth duh! In order for you to hear the iTunes music stored on your iPad...All you need to do is the Bluetooth thing. I'm 46 and this is my very first Bluetooth usage. It's perfect for this... Though every once in awhile, interference happens and sound goes out for a few seconds (only Bluetooth) .... Overall sound quality is excellent in my opinion. Perfect amount of bass. I've wanted a Bose speaker (of any kind) for years. This is the first. So far so good. Perfect size for a smallish 1 bd apartment. Only gave 4 stars because...I'm really happy I spent this kind of money but it should let you use wifi with your tablet iTunes library (maybe via the cloud?) Oh, one last thing...I love that there is a remote AND with the app, the phone and iPad are remotes too!! ... show more

  • Bose is ALWAYS a great choice!
This speaker is crisp, clear and has great bass. I love that this system grows with me since I can buy more speakers in the SoundTouch family to add to each room. Although this one speaker is plenty sound for all the rooms of an apartment. It's built very well, extremely sturdy and appears to be able to take a few drops! Is light weight & easy to move room to room or place to place if you choose to. Also, has rubber grips at the bottom to ensure no sliding around! The sound quality is simply unbelievable for such a compact, small speaker. I love that it takes up practically no space at all, until the music plays, then it fills the entire space surrounding it and then some. Setup was very easy, especially with the downloadable app. Very easy to follow directions, if you can connect your cell to a wifi connection, you can handle the setup of this device. The few buttons on the device are also made of a good rubber, soft to the touch, firm and should last indefinitely. Bose has gained another loyal customer in me thanks to this device! ... show more

  • Small but Mighty!
I bought one of these 10 years ago use it non stop! Bluetooth capable, can stream pandora and you can even hard wire it with a 3.5 mm cable. I have to look into it’s capability with Alexa since I have 2 Dots and a Show 5. I was looking at studio speakers because I am a dj that produces music but since I already had one, I purchased another one recently for an amazing set! Crisp sound with perfect bass. I’ve always loved Bose so this speaker does not disappoint! It has to be plugged in- not battery operated- but for me that’s no problem! Worth it! ... show more

  • Great Internet/remote speaker and good price.
I reviewed this product and gave it 5 stars. Since that review I have tried to contact Bose about purchasing a Bluetooth adapter for my other Bose product (Wave Touchtone lll system). Oh we're trying to contact Bose is a ridiculous experience. I've called twice only to be put on hold for over 20 mins, the first time and for over a half hour the second time. I've emailed them 3 times. There customer support is terrible. It seems once you buy a product they no longer think of you as important. I am totally frustrated with them. I previously purchased the Bose Radio/CD/Internet and loved it. I wanted to add a speaker to my upstairs study but didn't want to spend a lot of money for a remote speaker. Well I found the Bose Sound Touch 10 Wireless System for $200. It works as a remote speaker or a Bluetooth devise. The sound is great. It is easy to install. It takes up a minimum of space. I am well pleased with this product and it's performance. ... show more

  • Not great as a stand alone
October 20 2017 UPDATE. I now have 2 SoundTouch 30's, 8 SoundTouch 20's, 1 SoundTouch 10 pair and a SoundTouch 130 Home Theater System. I purchased the first of them on July 28 2016. The 30 and the 20 are good quality MONO speakers (it's absurd you still can't turn the 20's and 30's into stereo pairs). I would give the 30 and 20 both 5 stars and the 10 2 stars as a stand alone speaker. This update is regarding the SoundTouch software. After using it for over a year and updating it with each new update I am beyond frustrated. The current version is 16.0.9 and it's the worst yet. With each new update they add some nice features but fail to make the speakers sync reliably. Most often I play together 1 30, 2 20's and my 10 stereo pair. Sometimes it will work well for 1-3 hours and then it's chaos - with speakers dropping out and the music speeding up and slowing down. The 10 is the biggest problem - sometimes I can turn off the 10 pair and it will work but other times it still won't work. Sometimes turning them all off and disconnecting/reconnecting bluetooth will solve the issue but other times it will not. This has always been a problem with the software but it's probably worse it's ever been with version 16.0.9. I have called Bose support many times. I called today and they told me their engineers are aware of the problem and are working on it. They have always been aware and working on it. If you're only playing one of the speakers it works pretty reliably. As a stand alone the sound is not very sharp/clear and the bass is poor. This speaker would be decent for a bathroom. I purchased the SoundTouch 10 for a little up close and personal music right by my computer and I'm getting a SoundTouch 30 for a different location in the same room. I'm hoping the two will work well together to provide very good sound in my Great Room and kitchen. I'll have the SoundTouch 30 soon and I will update this review then. By comparison for $50 more the Companion 20 computer speakers sound much better and with better bass but I want SoundTouch to use with Alexa and to have the same music playing in multiple rooms. Bose make it better. If it needs to be a little larger and $50 more no problem. Update: I added the SoundTouch 30 along with the 10. The music syncs well between 2 SoundTouch speakers with no delay or echo. I have bluetooth connected from the Echo Dot to the SoundTouch 10 and then it's via wifi to the SoundTouch 30. The sound does drop out for a second on the SoundTouch 30 about once every other song. I have very fast internet and my router is in the same room as the 10 and the 30. I will update this review if I have any other issues or thoughts. 2nd Update: Major connection issues with the 10 when connected via bluetooth. I'm now connected via bluetooth to a SoundTouch 30 but still my 10's stereo pair drops out frequently using wifi. ... show more
