Bose is out with its new QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) and they are a winning continuation of the QuietComfort Earbud line that was first introduced in 2020. The Gen 2 Ultras now come in four colors. In addition to the traditional White Smoke and Black, Bose has added Deep Plum and Midnight Violet colorways. Also new for Gen 2 is wireless charging via the case, in addition to USB-C connectivity, and case battery level reporting in the Bose app. Bose also claims to have improved call quality and its ActiveSense noise cancellation. I have the Gen 1 Ultras (which my wife has been coveting, hence the upgrade) and can attest to almost complete silence on a commercial flight. No jet engine noise or babies crying...just pure bliss. While have not yet flown with the Gen 2s, I have been mowing the lawn, again with almost complete silence except for the deep bass and pure highs of the music playing from my phone. Music reproduction is accurate and rich with a wide soundstage and telephone calls come through clearly and without distortion. The earbuds are very comfortable for prolonged use and fit securely once you find the right size tips and retention bands. There is even an Earbud Seal Test in the app to ensure best performance. With a battery life of up to 6 hours and several recharges available in the case, these earbuds will work for quite a while if used judiciously. Background: I am always on the go. If I'm not traveling for work, I'm roaming around while working or multi-tasking. I mainly use my headphones/earbuds for work calls, YouTube videos, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and music. TLDR: These earbuds are amazing. They fit great and are super comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I have actually forgotten they were in my ears. The noise canceling is some of the best I've ever experienced; even when compared to other leading brands of ANC headphones/earbuds. Design: Small, oblong earbuds that are lightweight. I appreciate that they are sleek looking and don't look like I've put cigarettes in my ears. Setup: Initial setup was very simple. After taking the earbuds out of the box, I downloaded the Bose app on my Android phone. I signed into my Bose account and opened the earbuds case. My phone detected the new earbuds and asked me if I wanted to pair and set them up. After they were connected, the app gave me some tips and a demo of their Immersive mode. After that, I was off to the races. Sound: These earbuds do not disappoint. The bass is rich and the treble is crisp. Voices are clear for all my videos and audiobooks. I can feel the grooves of my bass-heavy music. Action movies are immersive and I can live through every explosion. The ANC is second to none. I can't stress how much noise they actually block while I'm in a busy airport or on a plane or walking down a city street. Battery: These last me more than a day before I need to charge them. The wireless charging case is a great feature. Like: - Comfort - Style - Bass - ANC Don't Like: - Touch controls aren't always reliably - I'd like more control over EQ and ANC settings Overall: I really like these earbuds and they will be my daily driver as I'm constantly reaching into my pocket for my earbuds in various situations. The best birthday gift of my life quickly became the worst. These awkward, clunky 2nd gen earbuds would be forgiven except after just FOUR DAYS they stopped connecting to Android, glitching & pausing the music every 30 seconds. Except when I pulled them from my ears and they played a 70 minute album without me knowing and wore the battery down. A disaster for Bose regulars. BUYER BEWARE! ... show more

I’ve always trusted Bose for sound quality, but I was hesitant to get earbuds because I usually experience ear fatigue within 10 minutes of wearing them. I wore these for 5 hours straight before they even started to bother me. The fit kit they include is a huge win with several variations of ear tips and cushion which are easy to swap, click securely, and make all the difference in comfort! The sound quality is superb. The bass and clarity feel like surround sound , full and powerful without being harsh or headache inducing. Noise cancellation is customizable and blocks out distractions beautifully, with little to no sound leakage which is amazing for phone calls and music. I’ve used them for phone calls, exercise, and downtime, and they always stay in place. Having modes like music, motion, and podcast makes the listening experience even more personal. Battery life is another highlight for me. The buds recharge quickly in the case, and I’ve only had to charge them once while stored. The connectivity range is beyond better than similar products I own, and the Bose app with EQ and customization options is really allows you to prioritize function and personalize your experience. My top highlights are the comfort, secure fit, and ability to tailor the experience to any situation. If I could improve one thing though, it would be adding a locator feature for lost buds or more shortcut control button options. Overall I’d recommend these to anyone who moves. Literally.
