You are getting what you've paid for. Can they do better, there's always room for improvements. The earbuds fit very well, and the various noise cancellation options are fantastic. One downside is how you can control your music, volume and noise cancellation options, as they are all with a touch and it takes a bit of practice and still not perfect. For example, you might wish to turn the volume up or down, but instead it might change the noise cancellation option or skip to another song. I found using the Bose app helpful when picking your noise cancellation options, but it's not always optimal to get to your phone especially if you're performing an activity (Cycling, running etc.). Overall, the buds are fantastic purchase and quite comfortable, but not for prolonged usage as you might experience discomfort and that's true with most earbuds I've ever tried. I can't speak to the battery life, give me a month or so and I will tell you how long it really lasts and how often you'll need to charge it, but like most rechargeables, after sometime you will see a decrease in capacity to hold a full charge. Will see if this holds true with these. Again, overall, a great purchase, not much to complain about. 10/4/2026 - I've now had them for a few months and one of the problems I'm having is the bluetooth disconnecting all of a sudden and or cutting on and off. This never happened with my AirPros. Also, it is still very hard to change modes from Ambient to Quite etc. Receiving calls hard to pickup and hang up after. Maybe its just me but these are the annoying aspects of the product, but sound quality is excellent. ... show more

Perfect Earbuds (but not for tiny ears) and Terrible, Just Barely Tolerable App

I have a Samsung S23 and I got the white color Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds 2nd Gen on a whim. I already have a Bose speaker that was gifted to me and Bose Headphones that I bought for myself, both of which are a godsend. The Bose app, which lets you adjust the Modes and EQ, SUCKS for trying to register any and all devices. It was hard trying to register my headphones, which I got Nov 2025, and it was near impossible to register these earbuds. Someone commented that you need to upgrade the firmware of these earbuds through the Bose app, while the earbuds are connected, because the version 8.4.8 has better connectivity than the version you get out of the box, which is 4.9.30. So, thanks to that person, I'm doing that right away! But it's only possible if you can get the dang Bose app to even detect your earbuds in the first place!! I went to their Bose website and registered the device. Did nothing for the app. Cleared its cache, enabled all permissions, tried pressing and holding the button on the case with the buds inside to connect and even tried taking the buds out to try and connect. My phone's bluetooth detected the buds just fine. But the app? Nothing. But weirdly, when I'd exit the app, I'd get a pop-up saying to connect my buds to my device and when I'd press it, it would then ask for me to "set up" the buds. But when I pressed that, it took me back to the Bose app where I would just be met with a loading screen that wouldn't budge. I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the Bose app, which ACTUALLY worked, and was able to get the app to detect the buds, and went to the firmware and began installing the update, which it said could take upwards of an hour, but you can have it running in the background so long as you keep the app open!! With that finally out of the way, I was finally able to fully experience the buds. My ears are very small, so I immediately switched the little earpieces for the smallest sizes, and twisted and turned the buds in my ear to get a secure fit. Which was...ouchie...:( And WOW. I have a noisy fan that makes me have to turn up the volume on whatever I'm watching just to drown it out, but when I put these earbuds in, that fan disappeared. It was like it was Thanos snapped from existence!! The audio automatically pauses when you remove one earbud (which you can change in the settings on the Bose app for the earbuds) and adjusts the noise canceling of your other earbud to be on the lowest setting (which is also changeable). I don't like touch control settings, so I turned that off, because I'm prone to touching and adjusting my earbuds constantly (due to my small ears and typically having buds be a poor fit for them) and I hate when that triggers the touch sensitive controls and messes with my music. Firstly, I LOVE the customization level of this product. I feel like you can really make it your own! You have some basic EQ controls (I don't know much of anything about sound or audio, but I love Bass, so I'm satisfied with being able to boost that), immersive mode which is really cool dynamic sound that works best when you're moving, still mode that's best for when you're sitting, aware mode to hear what's going on around you, and...I think that's it. It's all super cool!! The volume is LOUD, which I love!! I only turned my volume up two clicks from mute, and already, the music was at a decent volume. I love when you don't have to nearly give yourself hearing damage by putting the music on max volume just to really "feel" the song, so that's a huge plus for me. The sound is crisper and clearer than even the Bose headphones that I have?!?! Which I didn't even think was possible! They are not the most comfortable earbuds in the world. I could never forget that I'm wearing them. They're a bit clunky and funny looking when you take them out of the case (which is a struggle, because that case's design and the way the buds fit into it was definitely not made for easy removal), and they have a teensy bit of weight to them. Note: I have very sensitive hearing, very sensitive ears, and very tiny ears. This may be unnoticeable to other people. They kind of hurt my ears a bit, because it feels like they go pretty deep into my ear canal, but if that's what it takes to get that perfect seal that cancels out all sound around me, than I am happy to tolerate it! I have sensory issues, and as mentioned before, I have a stupidly loud fan that I always have to keep running because I live in an apt with no AC. And the heating system is clunky and the heater will either cook my room or let me freeze, so I often keep the heater on, the fan on, and the window open, just to keep my room temp regulated. But I have loud neighbors with loud toddlers running around, and that stimulus is always making me irritable and b#$%tchy, because I'm overstimulated ALL the time. So, I have invested lots of money into noise canceling gear. I have my Bose headphones, and 3 other headphones I bought prior to when I could afford Bose that all have varying levels of noise cancelation. Bose is the best, of course! But these Bose earbuds are even better than the headphones!!! And they actually fit my ears!!! Albeit uncomfortably, but they are secure and won't fall out with all my head bopping and headbanging shenanigans! These are a godsend. They were charged 50% right outta the box, and I charged them up to 100% before using them. I have a whole earbud cleaning kit to keep these in tip top condition, and purchased the 3 year Asurion Warranty because I tend to destroy electronics without trying (this has decreased MASSIVELY since cordless technology has become more accessible, but I am still a bit clumsy), so I have peace of mind knowing that this $250 pair of tiny little earbuds the size of my thumb won't just go down the drain if (and when) I accidentally sit on them... But yeah. The bass is good. The noise canceling is the best I've ever experienced. The fit is tight and uncomfy for my tiny baby ears, even with the smallest ear pieces, but I accept that small sacrifice for superior stimulus deprivation! The volume is excellent, the audio is crisp and clear, and I have no real complaints outside of the fit and that dang Bose app! No wonder it has 3.5 stars, despite 10 MILLION downloads, it is a hot load of ---- Anywho, hopefully these last a long time and no new complaints crop up! So far, despite these being an impulse buy, I'm hopeful that I won't regret it! ... show more

Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Gen 2 - A Short Summary of My Experience So Far

I owned a pair of the earlier Bose earbuds that came out in 2020. The bluetooth on the right one quit working, although the noise cancellation still works, and so it was time to get another pair for music listening. I considered Apple and Sony in addition to the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Gen 2. I read reviews of the different devices. Even though Sony got good reviews for music quality, they come with foam tips. Some years ago, I purchased multiple pairs of wire ear buds, many of which came with foam tips for noise isolation. The foam always got so it itched in my ears after a short period, and so I did not want the Sony. The reviews said that Apple was good for its features, but not as good as Bose for music quality or for noise cancellation. So I purchased the Bose. It would have been nice to have been able to try the different buds prior to purchase, but with earbuds that is not possible. Some people touted the Bose as having a bass heavy sound. I do not find them that way at all. In fact I turned the bass up slightly in the equalizer (in the Bose app on my phone). The sound quality is very good and I would have compared it directly to my old Bose, but the right bud doesn't work anymore. I think for music sound quality is great and is similar to what I was used to in the old ear buds, which I thought was very good. The noise cancellation still works in my old earbuds and so I was able to do a side by side comparison of the noise cancellation and to be honest, I could not tell a difference. Both sets appeared to work about the same, which is very well. The QCUG2 have different levels of noise cancellation and I use it mostly on the "Quiet" mode. I use them while I mow my lawn, and even in quiet mode, I still hear my (gasoline powered) lawn mower, but the sound is quite a bit muted. I use them when I go on walks and listen to music and use the "Aware" mode. I have tried the "Immersion" mode but don't see much difference in the way the music sounds. I liked the fit of the original earbuds better, even though Bose has supposed to have improved for the QCUG2. The fit on the QCUG2 is okay and I used them recently for a 1.5 hour phone conversation and that worked very well. The feeling was more like the person was in the room with me, than being on a phone call. I personally probably like the fit of the original buds better, but that could be caused by the uniqueness of my ears. Yes, I would buy them again. FYI, I had Amazon alert when their price was reduced and bought them a couple days later when I received the alert. I have a couple of iPod Touch 2 music players which I still use rather than my phone (they are much smaller in size than the iPhone). I could not put the current version of the Bose app on my Touch because it doesn't accept the current version of the Apple operating system. I put an earlier app version on my Touch, but so far I cannot get it to link with the QCUG2. It plays the music just find, and while it shows the QCUG2 in its list of Bluetooth devices, it continually says the QCUG2 are not available. This is probably a problem most people would not have--the Bose app on my iPhone finds and links with the QCUG2 just fine. I hope this was somewhat helpful to the reader. My bottom line is that I think they are fine earbuds and I disagree on the thought that they sound boomy. They fit fine and the polymer earbud tips don't cause my ears to itch like foam has. ... show more

Comfortable and sound awesome

These are awesome. Yes on the expensive side for earbuds, but, so worth it. For what these do and how they fit so comfortably. I've always had a problem with earbuds sliding out of my ear no matter what fitting I used and they tend to hurt these do not they stay in they're comfortable they are powerful it's like having over the year a headphones on in fact the quiet mode which cancels everything out the noise cancel complete for everything around you to where it's just silence is even better than the Sony over the ear headphones that I have if you like Bose and you like noise cancellation and you like a feel to your music or your shows or movies that you watch these are definitely worth it. ... show more

Excellent product from Bose!

I wrestled with purchasing these Bose earbuds as many of the social media reviewers gave unsatisfactory reviews in my opinion. I have tried all the competitors earbuds; at least the Crown Jewels of that particular company. As these reviews are subjective I will save you the hassle. I have several Bose products and find them very, very good. Although I wouldn’t say that I’m a Bose fanboy. I have several Sony products, I have several Apple products, Technics, JBL, and many other “brands” and find them useful and usually fairly good. As for these ear buds, it may be helpful to consider what you expect to use them for and what your expectations are. At the time of purchase, these were excellent value for money as they were cheaper than the major competitors at this “premium” level. The noise canceling is superior to Apple and Sony IMO. I was 5ft from a barking husky and could barely hear it. 5 star. As for comfort, I have worn these for various times during the day, during walks, around the house and for taking calls. My ears never have hurt or get “sore” after long use (more than 5 hours). I realize that this is subjective, but I have smaller ear holes and the ear tips are soft and associated supports that go around the driver fit my ear very well and provide lasting light comfort. These earbuds are not overly heavy at all. I have an Apple iPhone, and have found connectivity to be very little problem at all. It connects without issue and plays all my apps very seamlessly, Spotify, YouTube, Audible phone calls all the rest no issues whatsoever. I have not tested water resistance in that sense however walking in the rain no issues, with sweat doesn’t seem to be any issue. I’m anal about keeping them clean and I would encourage you to do the same. They seem durable and not flimsy or cheap. Finally, we get to the most important part for me at least and that is the quality of the sound coming through them for music. I am not an audiophile, at least not in the sense that I think about other sounds snobbery, but I do love my music and I know what it should sound like if you like the U curve or the typical rock curve you will love these earbuds. The base is rich, but not distorted, the mids are very good, and the highest trebles are not hissy, but crisp. Equalizer in the app only has three settings, but I still think it’s useful and helpful. However, you’ll have to use other settings if you have an iPhone to get it dialed in to your liking. Fortunately, I was able to do that to get better volume and better control in concert with Apple iPhone settings turning off Spotify equalizer and sticking to the Bose app for controlling the quality of the sound and it did work well. iPhone has a setting in which it limits the volume, adjust that setting and your volume will increase by I would say 20% maybe a little more, I have them dialed in now. And having them dialed in I think the sound is excellent and very enjoyable. I think these are well worth the purchase and have enjoyed them for the time. I’ve owned them with no issues with charging or any other issues. Highly recommended. Give them 5 stars. ... show more

Better than the galaxy pro 4

First off I am a Samsung guy... I was replacing my 3yr old galaxy FE buds so I read reviews and settled on the galaxy pro4 earbuds. The fit was terrible and just eating lunch they kept wanting to fall out. Yes I changed the tips.. the sound quality was worse than my previous buds and the controls were awkward. I returned them and ordered these. The fit is snug but very comfortable. The sound quality is way better than the Samsung and the controls are customizable and easy to use. I like that there are different levels of noise canceling with 1 long press of either bud.. these were the same price as the galaxy pro4 ... show more

Great sound, bass, and noise cancellation. I like the app and the ability to easily switch from phone to computer when I get a Teams call. I’ve had some interference a couple times and when it occasionally comes loose in my ear and I go to push back in, it will switch modes which is annoying. But overall I’d say these are the best I’ve had, better than Air pods for sure. I would order a case for them, they are cheap protection as these are easy to drop the case while handling. Update: after using these for 5 months I’m having issues with them not connecting for Teams calls on the pc and then I have to turn off Bluetooth on my phone or a call will interfere with a Teams meeting. So switching between iPhone and Teams calls on pc is not seamless. You have to disconnect your iPhone while on a Teams call. Also, the Bose app is not great. It does not display the correct battery level so I never really know the battery level and I often run them dead by mid-day. For the money I paid I’m not too pleased. I think over ear dedicated headphones are the way to go for Teams and the Bose earbuds are fine for iPhone use. As I stated before, when I go to adjust them in my ear they switch modes or sometimes will end a call. Not a good feature in my opinion ... show more

Decent competitor against the AirPods Pro, but be aware of what you're getting.

I previously owned the 2020 Bose QC Earbuds. Those earbuds came with a very nice, premium charging case. The earbuds also had a different design for the rubber "wings" which helped keep the buds in the ear. So when I took these new earbuds out of the box, I was slightly disappointed. The charging case feels pretty cheap and flimsy. The lid feels like it can be easily ripped off. These do technically have wings, they're just very small. So far I haven't had these fall out of my ears, so right now I would say it's a non-issue. What I have had problems with however, is the wing ring slipping and rotating. I discovered that when this happens, I don't really notice BUT they will prevent your earbuds from charging. This is because when they rotate, they lift the earbuds slightly when you put them back into the case which means the metal contacts don't touch with the contacts in the case. Another disappointment was the Bose app for Android. If you have an older or low end Android device, it might not work. I'm guessing it's fine for newer Android devices. But luckily I also have an iPad, and that worked immediately. Normally this wouldn't matter but there are features I wanted to use that are only available if you use the Bose app. For example, EQ and noise cancellation profiles. It's a little annoying that if I want to change those things I have to switch to my iPad. If you have an older or lower end Android device this might be a risk for you. On the bright side, the sound quality is decent. These won't give you an audiophile, perfectly flat frequency response. They're Bose earbuds, which means they're what I think of as fun earbuds. Plenty of bass and decently clear treble. These are earbuds you listen to if you want to have fun and jam out, *not* to appreciate the technical wonder of flawless sound reproduction. Another department these shine in is the noise cancellation. Right now, Bose and Apple are the best in the industry. I also have AirPods Pro 2, and the ANC in both are very very close. I would say the Bose QC Ultra are very slightly better in situations where you have varied noise, like someone's watching a movie in the same room or you're in a room with a lot of people talking. But again, to my ears they're almost the same - the best ANC on the market right now. Another department these shine in is comfort. With the stock silicone ear tips, out of the box these feel great and I don't really have issues with them falling out. I absolutely do have issues with my AirPods Pro 2 falling out of my ears with the stock tips. In conclusion...these are a fairly solid competitor against the AirPods Pro. I wish the case were of better quality, and that they would bring back the old wing design. The jury is out on how long these will last. My 2020 QC Earbuds literally died a month after the warranty expired. The left earbud stopped charging, which is apparently a common problem if you do an internet search. Hopefully they figured out how to manufacture these things. If they die right after the warranty ends I'll probably never buy another Bose product again lol. ... show more
