  • My favorite yard tool!
Style: w/ 12V Battery
I have a variety of a lot of palm trees and other prickly plants on my Southern Californian property. I use this thing ALL THE TIME with Milwaukee sawzall pruning blades. My first one, several years old, seems to have disappeared out of my garage near the door where it was setting. Hmmm. Finally gave up looking for it so just bought a new one and it seems as hardy and identical to my first. Hefty but not heavy. I’ve been happily sawing away and it, plus the battery it came with, are performing very well. I also use it to saw wood and pvc irrigation pipes with other blades. I’ve accidentally sawed off nail heads so I know it works well on metal too. The size makes it great to maneuver into tight spaces like my huge bird of paradise plants, hibiscus trees and acacia trees and bushes. FYI my dad bought the Ryobi version and it’s great too but slightly bigger. I prefer as small as possible without losing sawing power and this Bosch accomplishes that. But it all depends whether you’re already committed to another brand’s batteries. If not, I’d choose this one at least for yard work. ... show more

  • Just right
Style: Tool Only
Not something I needed, but couldn’t pass it up. Fits perfectly with my growing number of 12v tools. Not heavy duty, but great for light tasks around the house. Need to find more reasons to use this device.

  • Works great, but registering with Bosch is a pain
Style: w/ 12V Battery
The unit itself is easy to use, from inserting/removing the blade and then actually using it. Nice weight for someone like me who is not accustomed to power tools. The case it comes in is overkill, in terms of size. Registering with Bosch is a major pain. The web site in their documentation is gone. Found it by looking around. But you need to register the saw, battery, and charger separately. The charger is not listed in their dropdown options, so forget trying to register it online. ... show more

  • SOOO HANDY! I love it.
Style: w/ 12V Battery
I only have the use of one hand due to stroke. I'm 81 years old & a DIY guy. I love this thing because, for me, It's something I can easily handle. I have a Milwaukee Saws All. But It's so heavy to try & use one-handed. This little guy is SO HANDY, but it does have it's limitations. So far, I've tried using it with Saws All blades (I thought they might be better quality & maybe cut faster). But actually, for tree branch cutting, the blade that comes with it cuts better. I've found that experimenting with angle of attack & blade speed makes a BIG difference in how quickly it cuts. Faster doesn't really get the job done faster. A necessity of design dictates a pretty short stroke. Tree trimming one handed wasn't working very well because the branch just wiggled with the blade. This is where blade speed, angle, and pressure came into play. I found light pressure on a flexible branch worked faster. I've used this on wood, aluminum, PVC, steel, (all clamped down, or in a vice, so the work can't jiggle). It's nothing like a Saws-All, but it beats doing it by hand. Battery doesn't last very long. If you have many cuts to make consider a spare battery, or lots of coffee breaks. I had some trouble at 1st, removing the battery for charging, but now that I've done it a few times, it's not a complaint. ... show more

  • Good tool
Style: Tool Only
This is light duty intended mainly for tradesman in plumbing or electrical to cut minor things. So aslong as you use it with reasonable expectations and use it as it was designed you will be happy. This is not a heavy duty demo saw so if you buy it for that you will think the saw is terrible like the uninformed bad reviews which this tool does not deserve. ... show more

  • Perfect for repairs on the farm.
Style: w/ 12V Battery
I live on a 55 acre Almond farm currently and frequently have to repair fences, gates, fallen or overgrown limbs... Really, there are lots of random things I need to address that aren’t within any kind of useful proximity to electrical outlets and usually in remote areas accessible only by foot. This little booger does a phenomenal job for it's size and battery capacity. I can cut thru 5+ T posts no sweat (using a nice blade) on one battery. That's more than enough for a day's work. It cuts most small limbs with ease, 2x4s are even doable. I have a larger reciprocating saw that is more powerful, certainly, but it's big, heavy, and awkward... not something I really liked climbing thru brush, or up into trees with, this tool is much better. Because it's so compact, it’s easy to take anywhere. It fits in gloveboxes, my tool belt pouch, and small toolboxes easily. The batteries are bite-sized too, so extras can be thrown in for bigger jobs. I honestly love the entire line of Bosch 12v stuff. They're powerful enough for most odd jobs, compact, and well made. ... show more

  • Good for very quick small projects but eats batter awfully fast
Style: w/ 12V Battery
It's not bad. Frankly it does come in handy on many small projects. Sadly though it eats through its batteries much much too quickly. You'll get maybe a few min of run time on this if you're really chopping stuff up . It can saw through wood pretty well as long as you take your time and don't push too hard, which again is an issue because you have to go slow to cut but you're also racing the battery life. It's pretty darn frustrating. This saw is by no means quick but it does help. ... show more
