Description

The Bosch JS260 Top-Handle Jig Saw provides a sturdy footplate for accuracy in the cut, as well as a 6.0 Amp motor and variable- speed control. The sturdy motor produces up to 3,100 strokes per minute, with a 3/4 In. stroke length. The variable-speed dial controls the maximum speed, while the accelerator trigger regulates the operating speed. This jig saw is engineered with a low-vibration plunging design for cutting accuracy and smooth operation. It has a large heavy-gauge steel footplate. The JS260's multidirectional blade clamp delivers the superior grip of T-shank blades (but it does not accept U-shank blades). The toolless T-shank blade-change system makes blade insertion and removal quick. The tool has an always-on dust blower for max cut-line visibility and an ambidextrous lock-on button. I use the jigsaw for cuts that cannot be done on a bandsaw and for quick cuts. All of my projects involve hardwoods -- mostly mesquite which is harder than pecan, hickory, and oak. The Bosch jigsaw is comfortable to hold. I have been able to cut through every hardwood piece so far. I have two complaints about this jigsaw. First, the notch used for targeting the cut line is far enough from the blade that as the saw is turned, you are no longer tracking on the line. It's fine for nearly straight lines, but it's very difficult to know where the blade is in relation to the notch once the cut curves. It can be very difficult to make fine cuts without frequently stopping and lining up the blade. I only use this saw for rough cuts because of this problem. My second complaint is that the jigsaw vibrates a lot. I gave it 4/5 stars because the vibration is less likely to be a brand issue. I'm guessing most jigsaws would vibrate with the workload I put it through. I don't know if longer skids would add stability. It's a decent jigsaw, but it's difficult to use with finer cuts. ... show more

So much stronger than my old one. I cut curves into 2" treated lumber and shapes out of 3/4 treated plywood, and this thing has made it so much easier and faster.
