Description

The Bosch JS260 Top-Handle Jig Saw provides a sturdy footplate for accuracy in the cut, as well as a 6.0 Amp motor and variable- speed control. The sturdy motor produces up to 3,100 strokes per minute, with a 3/4 In. stroke length. The variable-speed dial controls the maximum speed, while the accelerator trigger regulates the operating speed. This jig saw is engineered with a low-vibration plunging design for cutting accuracy and smooth operation. It has a large heavy-gauge steel footplate. The JS260's multidirectional blade clamp delivers the superior grip of T-shank blades (but it does not accept U-shank blades). The toolless T-shank blade-change system makes blade insertion and removal quick. The tool has an always-on dust blower for max cut-line visibility and an ambidextrous lock-on button. After over 20 years my Bosch model #1587AVS finally quit working. Since I am now retired from the construction industry I no longer need a professional grade saw. My old saw built was like a tank and made in the USA. This saw has replaced metal components with plastic. I do not mind that as it is less than half the price. The problem is that this Chinese made saw has a defect in the angle settings. If you use the preset 90 degree setting ( or any preset angle setting) it will be off by a couple of degrees. After a close look at the markings on the shoe I noticed that the notches were not in the correct place. I am exchanging this saw for another of the same model. I will update my review should the new one prove to be accurate. Update: I was able to send this saw back and exchange it for the same model number. The new one is much better. So much stronger than my old one. I cut curves into 2" treated lumber and shapes out of 3/4 treated plywood, and this thing has made it so much easier and faster. I have has this jigsaw for a couple months now and it is easily the best purchase I've made in my woodworking pursuits. I used to cut everything with hand saws or borrow my friends power tools for cutting, but this makes it so I never have to do that again. The saw is accurate, easy to use, and gets the job done. A recommendation I have is always watch the actual blade for accuracy and not the metal cutting guide on the front. This will ensure the best cut and will keep your cuts consistent with the warps that may arise on your blades (although you should definitely replace any warped blades). As for the blade it comes with, that will get most jobs done but consider getting a blade expansion pack for only a couple more dollars. Its worth it. ... show more
