Description

Bosch 100% New Alternators benefit from more than 100 years of alternator manufacturing experience, ensuring years of reliable charging performance, even under the most extreme operating conditions imaginable, from the sub zero temps of the northern plains to the blazing southwest desert heat. All Bosch 100% New Alternators are engineered, manufactured, and 100% tested to the highest industry standards Bosch is famous for, using all new, not remanufactured, components for superior reliability and performance. Bosch 100% New Alternators incorporate only original equipment quality components to withstand the rigors of high heat environments and high electrical demand. Bosch 100% New Alternators are identical in fit and function to the OE parts they replace, yet benefit from the latest enhancements in engineering and charging technology for superior performance. Bosch 100% New Alternators are the perfect solution for certain problematic late-model applications that place an extreme burden on unit components in a high-heat environment. Bosch 100% New Alternators feature longer lasting bearings constructed using the latest advances in precision grinding, polishing and lubrication technologies for up to 30% longer life compared to conventional bearings. Critical electrical connections feature rigid welded construction to ensure reliability and durability, even in the hottest conditions, versus soldered connections. 55 amp rating. NOTE: Always ensure battery is fully charged before installing a new alternator. Alternators are engineered to keep batteries topped off, not to fully charge a dead battery. Using a new alternator to charge a dead battery can damage internal components, shortening the life of the alternator.

  • Great replacement for my 1974 Ghia
Although it was a pig to remove and install, that's no fault of Bosch! This one purrs along and puts out a healthy voltage to charge my battery. It's been in a few weeks so far, time will tell. The only niggle was the terminal bolt sticking out the top was a wider diameter than my original ALN82X, and the wire hoop terminals would not fit back on. Finding larger terminal was another exercise in frustration which took me down another rathole of crimping tools and trial and error shopping on Amazon. As yet, I have not been able to find a suitable substitute for the thin wire which is bolted to the post - its an impossible-to-find combination of a ring terminal with a 6mm opening suitable for 24 gauge wire... ... show more

  • Now my battery doesn't die!
Just got done replacing my old Bosh alternator with this new AL82N one today on my 1970 VW Campmobile. I only drive it on weekends so it spends a lot of time sitting. My battery was having a hard time holding a charge & I thought that it was because of the fact that I just didn't drive it much. I finally decided to run a couple tests. I tried polarizing it & that didn't work. Then I decided to disconnect the positive cable while the engine was running & it died right away, which told me that my bus was running off of the battery. I was able to install this without dropping the engine! I didn't even have to remove the oil filler. All I did was remove the throttle linkage from my dual carbs, removed the alternator strap, & removed the 4 bolts that hold the backplate to the fan housing. Then I just had to barely push the fan housing back, just a hair, & I was able to tilt the alternator, with the fan attached, forward enough to just slip it out. I then took it to a local mechanic one mine & within just 5 minutes, they zipped off the bolt holding the fan on & swapped over the parts to the new alternator. They didn't even charge me to do it because the owner loved VW's. I had my battery fully charged & ready. I hadn't driven my bus in months because I had been putting it off. I put the new alternator in & the bus turned over with no problem. I disconnected the positive battery cable & the motor kept on running! Hopefully this one will last me another 10 years like the last one & I saved myself quite a bit of money! ... show more

  • NEW-what a joke
Should be ashamed to peddle your junk as NEW. Bought this for my trike to replace a used Bosch alternator that was probably 20 years old, still going strong but baring was slipping causing fan to hit shroud. Bought trike in 2011, and idiot that manufactured it had put some cheap China made thing on it that had burnt up my battery, Wasn't going to put another cheap piece of garbage on it. Mechanic couldn't get just a new housing for alternator. He bought one made in China and I said no. Wanted another Bosch. Well you have managed to take a good name and soil it. First, mechanic said if he had started it on the trike it would have immediately failed. 2nd there were burrs on the slip ring from assembly, 3rd, regulator wires were dragging on center shaft. 4th, main power lead was dragging on rotor and had already drug thru insulation. 5th, shaft was scooted to end, not settled properly, and final rotor did not look new, was dirty. Paid mechanic for his time to fix your piece of junk instead of returning it and fighting to get my money back, having to wait for another one and probably receiving another one in the same condition. The lack of pride in one's work anymore is appalling. It's all about screwing the consumer, whether it's a $200.00 alternator or a $20,000 trike. Send out the cheapest garbage you can get by with and steal everyone's money. ... show more

  • dont buy this garbage
Don't buy this alternator, mine died after 3 months of use. Bearings destroyed after barely 3 months of use, and no warranty to cover it.

  • The alternator seems to be doing it's job, but ...
The alternator seems to be doing it's job, but it certainly wasn't the "New Alternator" that is promised in the description. The alternator is very clearly rebuilt. One of the bolts was nearly stripped and almost impossible to remove. This isn't problematic in terms of it's function, but it is frustrating that I could have purchased an alternator marketed as rebuilt for a substantially less expensive sticker price. Instead, I paid for what I believed to be a "new" alternator and received a refurbished one. ... show more

Installed this on a 74 VW super beetle today because of the old externally regulated alternator going bad. This is a great upgrade for a internally regulated alternator.
