Alternator went bad in my 2000 F-250 w/ 7.3L. I could have bought a reman unit from the local auto parts store, but I wanted a little extra output for better charging and powering acessories. This unit required some slight reprofiling of the alternator mount, but once that was done it fit and works great.     • I wanted more juice than the factory 7.3 diesel alternator.
I put this in a 2000 Excursion diesel. I had to grind a little space in the alt bracket to fit it. The bolt locations and the connections are the same. The power wire is on top an inch away from the original place, it fits with no length, angle issues or contacting the hood. If you’re unsure about doing this upgrade fit it nick on YouTube has a really good video on how to do this very easy and worth while upgrade. I’ve been running this for several months and many hours, only improvement no down side. If you have the smaller pulley on you old original alt use the small pulley for diesels it spins the alternator faster and is better for higher load lower rpm charging. ... show more

    • Great Alternator, 2004 Ford F250 6.0
Purchased this alternator for my 2004 Ford F250 with the 6.0 after the OEM unit went out at approximately 75K miles. When originally purchased 5 years ago it stated it fit my vehicle but for some reason that is no longer the case. Still fit with no issues and took less then 10 minutes to install with no special tools. Voltage has been as expected and never had a issue. 5 years later, to the day of purchase, the alternator failed on the way to work. Battery light came on the dash and voltage noted on SCT gauge to be at around 11.5-11.7 during remainder of drive. Alternator did give me 50K worry free miles. Now, for the good part. It has a lifetime warranty. Initially made phone calls to Bosch and was transferred a few times, no big deal. Got a call back from a Bosch rep stating the alternator did have a Lifetime warranty, but warranty would need to be handled through seller. Rep gave me customer service number for Amazon, (who was the seller) and another Bosch number for any other questions. Called Amazon, customer service was great, ended up having to talk to a supervisor but the New replacement was shipped and arrived 2 days later, no out of pocket costs. Shipped old alternator in the box new alternator came into complete return/ replacement. Shipping label provided. Could not ask for more, especially for the price of a new alternator. I plan on owning this truck for another 15 years, so I'll replace as needed. ... show more

Even though Amazon states it does not fit my truck, this Alternator fit my 2004 Ford Excursion 6.0 Diesel perfectly. Increased amps and brand new, not remanufactured. I replaced the pulley with the smaller overdrive one. It charges at over 14 volts at idle consistently.

    • Can a New Alternator be Defective?
Having an alternator installed on my 2005 6.0 diesel was quoted at just less than $800. Being retired I just couldn’t afford that price so I decided to do it myself after watching a few u-tube videos. I ordered this Bosch alternator from Amazon after looking at a few reviews and reading the write up about it. I’m sure this company makes some good alternators but after receiving mine, going thru the problem of installing, putting belt back on, and hooking up all cables my reading was 11.5 volts output with my battery light on on the dash. My batteries were about a month old and tested great so I then questioned my wiring and after checking all of them found no issues. I couldn’t believe that a new, not rebuilt, alternator could be bad. I then went back online and read the 1 and 2 rated reviews which confirmed I had a bad one. I called Amazon customer service and they (being very considerate) offered to send another one or issue credit. I did not want to risk going thru the labor of installing another bad one so took the credit, went thru the pain of taking it off and shipped it back. Ordered a DB this time, put it on reading 13.7 volts and the battery light is now off! I noticed with the DB it had a certificate of testing whereas the Bosch did not. Evidently that makes a difference! If you like to gamble order this Bosch, if not stay away from it!! ... show more

    • Works on 2003 Ford Superduty Powerstroke 6.0L (edited)
The Amazon "works with your vehicle" said that this unit was not compatible with my truck. However, after reading several posts from Ford truck and powerstroke-specific comment boards, it looked like it was good to go. Start to finish took about an hour to install, and that time included cleaning up all of the positive and negative contacts I could find between battery/body/alternator. Edge monitor shows between 13.9 and 14.1 going down the highway. Before the install, the monitor was showing low 12's and the battery light had come on intermittently the previous few days. Keeping the old alternator as a backup. [Edit] 2019-06-05 Burnt smell thru the vents today, so pulled over to look under the hood. Small black broken plastic pieces inside interfering with the rotor spinning, melting on the stator coils, Edge monitor no longer showing 13.9 to 14.1 volts, but rather 11.6 to 12.1 -ish. Pulling it tomorrow for return. Got 101 miles out of it. I'll keep the 5 stars for now, but will edit again after I pull it and figure out what black plastic thing "broke" ... show more
