Multifunctional in a compact space!

I still have a collection of CDs even though they are all uploaded to my iTunes, the original track is not always available that way. I missed having a stereo system that I can use or that can be left playing music, even if I get a call or if I want music playing while I am away. Our Pup gets nervous with the sound of people walking by or especially the delivery trucks, but if we have ambient noise or are watching TV, she is not as jumpy. I came across a few cassette tapes with voice recordings of my grandparents who have passed on and decided that was the tipping-point to finally get a system that could also play my CDs after 15 years without one. I wanted to spend enough so that the quality of sound was apparent, but also not too much as to be pulling from any savings or other budgeted items. Though I no longer live in a severe weather prone area, I do have a peace-of-mind being able to tune into the local radio station here at home as opposed to only in the car. The extendable antennae is nice, but was able to pick up many stations without it being pulled out. There are features that I had not even considered when I decided to look for a music system that have been a great bonus: Rechargeable battery, lightweight systems with a carrying handle, and the option to play from a USB or micro SD card! So far it has played for many hours on multiple occasions and has not needed a recharge. I do keep it plugged in when it's in the living room, but left it unplugged for a week to test the charge. The sound quality is perfect for my use. I have it in our living room with high ceilings and have also carried into the garage when doing laundry. I love the size in that not only is it compact, it is lightweight and the handle lays back to leave a low profile. The function buttons are all on the front, or front/top for the cassette feature which I really like as opposed to when the power button is on the side or back and hard to see. A long press powers on the player and once on, the same button selects the desired feature. I like that if I have been using the CD feature, for example, then power the player off, it remains in the CD selection when I power it on again. The headphone jack is on the back which is not ideal, but honestly, I only tried it out for this review and will use the suit-in speakers mostly. The bluetooth feature is nice for connecting with satellite/streaming radio. I was able to raise and lower the volume from my phone where the streaming service originated but the remote control is also a great bonus. I found that the added touch of the 4 corner rubberized grips on the bottom are helpful as well. When I inadvertently bumped the boombox, it stayed put on the table. One note: there is a sticker that indicates the following, but something I had to remind myself; when removing a CD, just lift up the CD from the side as opposed to pushing the center disk that hold the CD in place. My Gen X mind is used to the center being a button/eject feature. I did push lightly once, forgetting this instruction, but it did not do any damage that I see. The outer casing and handle have a durable feel and the cassette tray opens smoothly which lends to the quality of the system. **Note, in my video, the display appears to flicker, but it is just due to the recording. It does not flicker at all in person.

Versatile and Convenient, With Plenty of Listening Options (and I LOVE the remote control!)

I’m very pleased with this Sunoony boombox. It offers an impressive number of features in a relatively compact package, including CD playback, FM radio, Bluetooth, USB/TF card support, AUX input, a headphone jack, and a rechargeable battery. The Bluetooth connection has been reliable, and I like having the option of using either the built-in stereo speakers or headphones. The CD player has performed very well for me, and the sound quality from the dual speakers is clear and enjoyable for everyday listening. I also appreciate the rechargeable 5000mAh battery, which makes the unit much more convenient to move around without having to keep it plugged into an outlet. The remote control is another great convenience (not usually available in this price range), particularly when using the unit from across a room. The controls and display are reasonably straightforward once you become familiar with the different functions. With so many features packed into one unit, there is a bit of a learning curve at first, and the compact controls can take some getting used to. One important note: I have not tested the cassette player or cassette recording functions because I don't own any cassette tapes, so I cannot give an honest assessment of how well those features perform. Overall, this is a versatile little boombox that gives you a lot of ways to enjoy your music without requiring several separate devices. My experience with the functions I have actually used has been positive, while I’m intentionally leaving the cassette-related features unrated.

Simple to use multi-function audio player 😊

This a great little unit! ❤️ It takes up very little room and it sounds very good. It has an equalizer function so depending on what you are listening to, you can switch EG modes for ideal sound. I was able to play some of my old cassettes and they sounded as good as the CDs. It gets very good FM radio reception too! I really like that is rechargeable. It also will play mp3 CDs and that's a big plus for me because I listen to audio Bibles on mp3 discs. I also like the Bluetooth feature. I tried using the speaker via Bluetooth with my laptop and it works great. When you switch functions, a pleasant voice tells you what function you are on and the Bluetooth pairs flawlessly with a pleasant voice saying "connected". It comes with a thorough, easy to understand manual. All the features are exceedingly easy to use, and they all work very well. The buttons are all easy to use and having the remote control is wonderful and such a big plus. The remote uses two AAA batteries (not included). It has a sleep function that goes 10 minutes all the way up to 2 hours. You can even program track to play in different order (20 tracks on CD and 99 on an mp3 disc), which is a neat little feature. And it works with my Bluetooth earbuds so I can listen and not disturb anyone. It also has a headphone jack and TF/SD card slot in the back. This a great little unit and it looks great too! I'm really happy to have it! 😊 It is so versatile and it's super easy to use!

Almost perfect!

I was initially leery of buying a "no-name" Chinese mini boombox, but I was tempted by a low price offer to give it a try. I'm glad I did! I was so impressed that I came back and bought a second identical unit (at full price). This handy little boombox is almost perfect -- and a great value at its current price of around sixty bucks. THE GOOD: Terrific versatility in a small footprint with an intelligent, attractive, functional design. I wanted something to play my CDs, tapes, and occasionally the radio in our cramped kitchen where counter space is at a premium. The form factor of this mini boombox is ideal. It is smartly designed and looks good! I like the clear lid that gives full view of the CD while playing, though some may find the visual of a rapidly-spinning disc to be distracting. CD playback has been flawless for me. The tape player has a true stereo head and plays tapes in stereo. (A lot of today's cheap cassette players have only a mono head.) Sound quality with the built-in speakers is generally better than other comparable units and quite acceptable. (I even compared it with another similarly-priced "Sunoony" CD mini boombox, and this unit sounded noticeably better.) Before buying this, I picked up a similarly-sized "Magnavox" CD boombox, and that thing sounded so terrible I had to return it. This "Sunoony" sounds much, much better. It's good for the size and price, but be realistic and don't expect high-end audiophile "blow-you-away" quality. The non-removable built-in battery has good life. On a single full charge, I played about five or six CDs and five or six 90-minute tapes (about 10-12 hours of total playback). 10-12 hours of mixed media playback on a single charge seems good to me. The unit is easy to operate, and within a minute, I was able to connect it with a Bose Bluetooth speaker and play cassette tapes through the Bluetooth speaker. (YES, this unit both transmits and receives Bluetooth signals!) Sound quality when sending Bluetooth to an external speaker is pretty good, but not amazing. I think I will stick to using the built-in speakers for simplicity's sake. THE BAD: The sound, while quite good for a small unit like this, has a subtle "raspiness" to it, almost like there is a thin piece of paper inside the unit that vibrates along with the sound. (Looking through the speaker grille, I don't see anything, and I suspect that the raspiness is electronic in origin and entering the signal at the amplifier stage.) I bought two of these units, and the raspiness is present in both; it's not a fluke. The raspiness is not overbearing, and in normal use (while bustling around the kitchen), I don't really notice it. But if I were to sit and listen intently to this device, it might be bothersome. And while the cassette player works, the mechanism makes a noticeable grinding sound during playback and there is a bit of audible wow and flutter. For casual listening while cooking in the kitchen, the tape playback is acceptable, but I wouldn't choose this if your goal is to connect it to a computer and digitize your cassette collection. Also, note that this unit uses USB-C for its power input. They provide a USB 2.0-to-USB-C cable in the box, but no power adapter. Unless you have a USB outlet handy, you'll have to bring your own adapter to plug it into most standard household power outlets. SUMMARY: For its price, this is a delightful little unit. It is packed with features, looks great, has good battery life, and is wonderfully portable. Among comparably-sized players, its built-in speakers deliver better-than-average sound quality. I have had my two units for two weeks and love them. While it's still available, I may even buy a third to keep in the workshop! I'm deducting one star for the slightly "raspy" sound and fluttery cassette playback that keep it from being a truly 5-star machine. Still, in 2024, I think this is about as good as it gets for a small all-in-one machine (CD/tape/radio) and I'm very happy with mine.

Fun little box with lots of features and decient sound

This thing is a hoot! Have to admit that I haven't recorded a cassette tape yet, which is actually why I bought it in the first place. Kind n involved story. We have a classic car ( 98 JAG XK-8) that has a CD player in the trunk and a cassette deck in the dash. We have a fairly large collection of vinyl from years ago, so we are starting to put them onto CDE with a player we got long ago. That's fine, but it doesn't record to tape. So I was looking for something to go from CD to tape. Everything was either pretty cheesy or meant for an audio deck of some sort that we don't have. I fell upon the concept of a boombox and selected this one. I liked that it has rechargeable battery instead of throw-away cells. So far it has just been fun messing with it. /it doesn't take up much space; I have it on my desk at home. The sound is actually pretty good and it is loud enough. Surprised that it is bluetooth and I easily paired with my iPhone and play Apple Music through it. It is supposed to record from the Bluetooth input, although it might not if Apple has somehow protect their stream. The goal here its to record the CDs to tape so we can listen to them in the cab of the car. I travel in a RV and will be using this to set outside and play some tunes a I grill something. It has a jack to hook up external speakers if you want bigger sound. IT also has AM/FM radio. That can come3 into play if we are traveling and a storm comes up- able to listen to local weather channels. The remote control works well, also.

Practical design, OK for the price, but a few flaws worth noting.

This review is revised from the original version to point out that the tape player does not play at an accurate speed. It moves the tape too quickly, resulting in a half-step increase in tone (i.e. a B note plays back as a C note). This is barely acceptable for spoken word, and useless for music. Original review follows. = = = = = = Note that this player came with a USB-C charging cable but did not include a USB charge module. This isn't a concern if the user has USB charge ports available. But the lack of charger might matter when this player is given as a gift. It's a "Charger not included" situation (rather than "Batteries not included) as back in the good old days when CDs and Cassettes were in style. Now for a rundown of my experience after a few days: I used this player for about 12 hours to covert a stash if spoken word audio cassettes to digital format. I connected the headphone output into a Presonus Studio 192 and Studio One version 7 to capture each recording and clean up the sound. Some of the tapes were from the 1970s, so I didn't expect pristine audio from the tapes themselves. But I was hoping the player wouldn't introduce audio problems of its own. I immediately noticed a very audible hum at 120Hz, and a smaller hum at 240Hz. I initially suspected it was typical (but unusually loud) noise from the 60Hz power supply, but the hum is the same when running on battery. The hum only occurs in the cassette mode, so it maybe it's the cassette read head picking up AC power interference. However, the hum was the same level regardless of where the player was positioned in the room. So I think it's just an aspect of the cassette circuitry on this player. I used notch filters in Studio One to minimize the hum at 120 and 240, and also all audio below 80. The results were acceptable for spoken word recordings, but I don't think they would be suitable for music recordings. Note: The cassette player in my unit did not play back tapes at the correct speed. The cassette player is old-school mechanical, with physical buttons rather than electrical switches. The player does auto-stop when playing a tape that reaches the end of one side. The player doesn't auto-reverse, but I didn't expect it to. However, the player does not stop trying to move the reels at the end when fast forward and reverse are used. The tape movement noise isn't much different when the end is reached, so I had to pay attention to the tape reels when using fast forward and reverse to avoid letting the reel winding mechanism to get worn out with a stalled tape. Which brings up another aspect worth noting: the cassette compartment is unlighted, and is recessed behind a small window. This setup makes it difficult to see if the reels are turning, or to see how much tape remains to be played. I kept a flashlight handy to help me see what was going on during playback. After creating WAV files of many recorded tracks I put them onto CDs and had no problems with the CD mode of this player. The sound was acceptable for spoken word, but don't expect hi-fi sound from this little box. It's adequate for my purposes, but the mostly mid-range audio may not be suitable for serious music listening. I also tried putting the WAV files onto a USB stick but that didn't work out very well. I think the player only handles MP3 format on the USB. That is disappointing because the WAV format is the same as what is on a CD, and the player can handle CD just fine. I'll experiment with MP3 on USB in the future, but for now the USB mode on this player isn't working well for me. I tried the radio and it worked as expected. Locating a specific station takes a bit of time due to the simple user interface. But it's good enough for casual radio use. I also tested the EQ modes but stuck with the basic Flat setting. Would I buy this again? Probably not, but for the price I can't complain too loudly.

Great purchase

First of all, this little CD player is ADORABLE. It has great sound and is very portable. The remote is really functional and useful. I also love that it has a rechargeable battery, so it doesn't have to be plugged in all the time. I've been using it to listen to audiobooks with my fiance, and the boombox even remembers which track we left off on after being turned off for a few days! I had to reach out to the company's customer service once after purchasing the item, and they were really kind and helpful! I spent a lot of time researching CD players before settling on this one, and I can say I definitely picked the right one!
