This safe is not sturdy enough to protect your belongings from would-be burglars, but it will deter small, curious kids and visiting friends. It is very small and lightweight, only big enough for passports and cash, but not handguns of any size or more jewelry than what will fit in a sandwich baggie. I ordered this little safe because I needed something to keep papers secure in my RV. There's plenty of room in there for small items and folded papers. The instructions were simple and easy to follow to set the code and operate the safe, and having 2 keys for it is also nice. I used 4 AA rechargeable batteries in mine and they fit fine. I didn't use the included mounting hardware, I instead used double sided acrylic tape to secure it to the inside of a cabinet. Since this safe is not advertised as being fireproof, I took the added step of putting my papers in fireproof envelopes - the kind designed to hold cash fit perfectly in the safe.

I had bought my daughter a similar safe last year. I like this one so much better. It’s a bit larger and also seems safer. It has a usb charging back up should your keys be lost and the batteries are dead. The combination was easy to set, and the back up key works perfect. They sent two, just in case. Included is a felt bottom and screws so it can be attached to a shelf in a dresser or closet from the bottom. The heads of the screws will wind up being locked in the safe, and under the felt when the door is closed. I wish it was fire proof. But it is better than what I had!

I received this safe a few days ago and was planning to use it to store cash I keep on hand some computer backup drives. However, I feel that it would most certainly not do its job if I were to get robbed. Here's my breakdown of why: - It's extremely light. This is great for mounting but also means a burglar could just pick up and walk out with it to break it open later. - The door is incredibly thin. It's the thickness of a couple pieces of cardstock and has enough of gap that you could definitely pry it open with a screwdriver or something similar. - The lock is cheap. This feels like it could be jimmied open with a knife or other small, flat object very easily. Overall, it's not a bad looking safe, but it definitely shouldn't be used for actual valuables. It could probably be used as a deterrent for kids if you have something they shouldn't (not a weapon or anything harmful because I'm confident they could get in if they wanted to). I feel that the other version of this safe with the keypad would be a much better option for only $5 more as it hypothetically fixes all the problems this one has.

This is very small and not lined. It is strong but the metal material is not thick. It is not fire or waterproof, but it comes with screws to mount it on a wall. I got the key version and the lock is easy to use and functions as it should. So if you just need to lock away small items that don’t need protection from the elements, this could be a good choice for you.

This is a great small safe for stashing a few important things you might need to access more frequently. It's small, but that makes it easy to stash in a closet or tucked under your desk. It's not waterproof or fireproof (at least as far as I know - there's no indication of either, so I'll err on the side of caution). But it's very sturdy, and the key lock works flawlessly - I'm giving this to my son's fiance to keep in their apartment to stash important stuff they don't want anyone accessing if they need to have maintenance or any strangers in while they're not there. I think this is a great deal for the price. The safe is small but a pretty decent size. I added the water bottles in my pic for size reference. It’s not going to hold a TON but will hold smaller items like socials, birth certificates, etc. Comes with two keys. Seems sturdy. Absolutely no complaints. Worth the price! **I realize now that I am using it the wrong way - I have it standing taller rather than shorter but longer. I think either way can work!**
