Always Monitor your watering with this soil as it does retain water which many type of Bonsai do not like and are very sensitive to. Be sure to use this with the correct Species of Bonsai to avoid poisoning them with water. With the correct Species of Bonsai this is great Soil!

I've used some of this but I mixed it with lava, pumice, akadama, kiryu, and a little bit of large grained sand. The bottom of the bag (inside) had a mildew smell to it. It is a very high concentration of bark, maybe sphagnum moss and humus with a little fine grained sand mixed in. It is not what I would consider to be a bonsai soil. It is not to be used as-is for plants that need good drainage. This mix could cause root rot. Be careful. ... show more
