I've broken down before and didn't have a paddle, used a ski or wakeboard (not with current boat or ski). This fits super easy in the front compartment on the ski and out of the way. Nice to know it is there in the event of emergency. Easy to use and store.

Some reviewers noted they had a difficult time getting it to fully extend or collapse. I bought 2 of these, 1 worked fine out of the box and the other would not fully extend. Without the other working part it would have been difficult for me to determine which part to twist to get it to fully extend. Almost took a pair of vice grips to the wrong end without the working unit to look at! It is not the ring closest to the paddle, but the one closest to the handle (in my case), or the middle ring (possibly in your case). Righty tighty lefty loosy applies to these. If you like to tube this was perfect. I tethered a pool noodle ring to our and attached it to our tube. When needed expanded and came in handy. Also fit in a waterproof pack, depending on pack size. Easy to store and tote around.
