This is a substantial lock that you just would not find in a big box store. This lock is suitable for any application. The Amazon description notes that it is primarily a shipping container lock, but it can be applied to garage doors, trucks, chains, basically anything. Note that the pin (or hasp) is about 3/8" in diameter, so your application would need to be able to accommodate this large pin. You cannot cut it off, so I understand why 4 keys are provided, because if you lose the key to this lock, it is not one that you can cut off. I'm a former truck driver, and this would have been ideal for protecting cargo. As mentioned, it comes with 4 keys. The "D" shaped shackle design makes it almost impossible to cut off. I plan to do some travelling, so I am using this lock on a chain securing my outdoor equipment. This is an amazing lock. ... show more

Description did not state that even though there are multi-packs, they are not keyed the same. 6 locks = 6 different keys. Other than that, great locks - used on Connex integrated lock provisions and these are very substantial.

    • This ain't your daddy's padlock

These are very strong, heavy duty, stainless steel container locks. Two come in a package with a separate set of keys for each. (The keys don't work on both locks, each lock has it's own keys.) They are very easy to use. Turn the key halfway around, 180 degrees, and slide off the round bolt. Unlike a padlock with rounded bolts, you can see from the picture that the bolt is straight forming a square opening with the bottom. This make it MUCH easier to thread the bolt through the clasps on whatever you are locking. If you have ever struggled trying to thread a round, u-shaped padlock though two openings and then twist it enough to get it to lock, especially if it has a metal box around it so you can't see what you're doing, you will appreciate these. Simply line up the bottom of the lock and slide the bolt through the locking holes on the container... much easier. You could use these on practically anything. You could lock two ends of a heavy chain together, whatever. It's probably overkill to use these on a bike or a garage door but sometimes that's what you are looking for.
